This is a quay side bar and restaurant with very good local produce. The Chowder is excellent with home made soda bread. Steaks are a speciallity and the staff are very polite and helpful. You need to book at weekends but it is well worth it. During the summer there is an excellent outside area to the rear of the bar.

“Charming pub, great service!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

This is definitely one of my favourite places, an authentic family run business.
They have a small area behind the bar called a snug I recommend that you book this if ever going to the Moorings. The friendly staff accommodated us, even though we did not ring ahead to book and we were a large number, in the height of the peak season.
I cannot say enough good things about the Moorings. It's like walking into a family home, friendly warm and a little 'lived in look' about it. The food is also beautiful may I especially recommend the seafood chowder and garlic mushrooms (kindly recommended by the friendly waitress Mary) followed by another of her favourites monkifish served with crab claws and prawns.
The only complaint I could possibly have is the toilets - they need to be replaced.
Although they were incredibly busy the waitress gave me a tour of the facilities the Moorings has to offer including accommodation, large beer garden, beautiful function room upstairs, bar and lounge area as well as seating out the front looking at the boats go by.
The staff are incredibly attentive but not in your face. Upon walking in you instantly notice they are busy looking after their regulars and you can see why they return. Seeing a man walk in and the tall bar man (Think he was called Robbie) chirply asking 'pint of guinness John?' These are the little touches only a true pub can offer.
Constant smiles and charm from the moment you enter until you leave.

“Wonderful local dining”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

My wife's ancestors lived in Dungarvan. Otherwise we wouldn't have gone there on a recent week in Ireland. We were delighted that we made the trip --- and we were especially glad our guide, Derek Smith, took us to The Moorings. The food was delicious and our server had the look of an Irish Maid straight from Central Casting. Fish and chips were well executed. I had a crabmeat sandwich as good as I've had at 5 star seafood places. Absolutely charming place. A great value and perfect atmosphere, right on the water.
