“Great location, excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2014

We went to The Tannery with friends who live locally. It is busy, buzzy and friendly. The food is excellent - the crispy egg starter was particularly good. Local fish and shellfish and good pork.
The restaurant has a more informal wine bar downstairs which was also packed. On the Saturday evening we were there it was quite warm but not uncomfortably so. The building has been well converted and retains the character of the original tannery. A short walk from the quay it is well located in an attractive town.
One small criticism - we arrived on time and our table was not ready. There was nowhere to wait that was not in everyone's way in such a busy place.

“'Because they are worth it'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

Had Sunday lunch here two weeks ago, it was really good. Great food, great service and well worth driving down from Dublin for the day. One minor gripe, restaurant very very warm, uncomfortably so. Another diner mentioned this to the manager and was told that the air conditioning was on and all the windows open! The Tannery please note, air conditioning only work when the windows are closed, having them open defeats the purpose of having air conditioning! Otherwise a great meal and will be back!

“Fabulous service, great atmosphere, delicious food”

Went to the Tannery lately to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Really enjoyed our visit...we stayed in their Townhouse that night.( Decor was lovely & the continental breakfast which you have in the room suited us after the huge meal. The accomodation wasn't quite perfect but the location was handy....we walked to a bar on the waterfront after dinner. They also have bikes you can borrow to cycle out to the beach.)The staff are all SO well-trained & v warm. The food was gorgeous...my hubbie's salad starter was a surprise favourite! We couldn't fit dessert :-) The wine was also lovely. For those not looking to eat as much/spend as much, the wine-bar they have downstairs looks fab! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit & will most definitely be back.

“A fine dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

Our group of 4 had dinner on a Saturday night. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated in a welcoming, professional and friendly manner. We ate upstairs. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. A tasty bread and hummus set us up nicely as we studied our menus. We had a variety of starters. I went with the ravioli of lobster for starters and lamb shank as a main course. Both were flawless. My friends were delighted with their varied selections. We shared a very acceptable bottle of red between 3. Our fourth had a beer.We did not have dessert or tea/coffee. The total cost was just over €50 per head and represented good value for the ambiance and quality on offer. I understand that the restaurant offers a different and less expensive option downstairs. I would readily recommend The Tannery.
