“Fantastic apartments and stunning setting”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

We stopped in the Cottage for 3 nights and other family members shared one of the apartments. The accommodation was excellent and suited our needs perfectly, Julie and Patrick made us all feel extremely welcome and were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and they made you feel part of the family! Our 2½ year old absolutely loved the play area, exploring the vast grounds, trampoline and especially the walk to the lake. What a stunning setting and perfect if you have children of any age. The hot tub looked very inviting and overlooked the lake too. The Cottage where we stayed was cosy, extremely clean and facilities were good. The bed was so large and comfortable you could easily get lost in it. Just what you need for a relaxing self catering mini break or longer. Superb location and the town of Fenagh was a pleasant and easy 5 minute walk away passed the old Abbey. We will definitely stay again when we return to Ireland. Highly recommended.

This beautiful building, with much history, is situated on a lovely rural site overlooking a small lake with an island. It is well set back from the road and is quiet and peaceful. The owners have done a wonderful job restoring and decorating the building. The views from windows in our large room were stunning. Bed and linen quality was excellent, as were breakfasts. Julie and Parick are helpful and accomodating hosts. There are also well equipped, recently renovated self-catering units. Should we return from Canada, we would look forward to staying at The Old Rectory again!

The Old Rectory was the base for our 4 day motorcycling holiday in Eire. The family run establishment is brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Even for 20 (well behaved) bikers.

It was an ideal base and catered for all our needs. The place has lots of traditional Irish character and charm. The family were warm and welcoming. The morning breakfast was excellent, just what we needed to start us off for a day in the saddle.

If you’re staying as a couple or a larger group, this place is ideal. Some of us even spent a few hours in the outside jacuzzi. It’s only 5 minutes walk to the local deli or the Fenagh Bar, which we sampled :-)

We stopped in one of the apartments for a week in early April, our choice, (as ever), dictated by the Trip Advisor community comments. On arriving we were met by Patrick and given the choice of which apartment to use as we were the only ones staying that week, (it was really very much out of season). The choice was irrelevant really, as all of the s/c accomodation was recently built and of the highest quality. Fair enough to say that no expense had been spared and these really were top of the range apartments having been converted from an old stable block, keeping the original features but matching them up with modern decor. The owners Patrick and Julie could not have done enough for us and we highly recommend The Old Rectory to anyone wishing to stop in this beautiful part of rural Ireland. The views over Fenagh Lough from the property are a bit special also !

I stayed here as part of a group who took part in a murder mystery night in The Old Rectory. It was a really enjoyable night, very well organised and set in the perfect location. We stayed in the self-catering apartments which were beautiful. We spent most of our evening in the main house where we were very well entertained and had a lovely dinner. The owner Julie and her family were very welcoming and accommodating. The location of the house is really beautiful. Would recommend to anyone.

We spent a night in the Old Rectory solving a murder mystery, as a group of friends celebrating a birthday. The accommodation was excellent; there was a problem with the heating in our apartment but the proprietor provided extra heaters for us. There was tea and brack there for us on arrival and the staff were welcoming and accommodating, helping to keep our presence as a surprise for the friend whose birthday it was.

The apartments in which we stayed were spacious, comfortable and spotless. The meals were excellent and the drawing room and dining room in the main house are beautiful. The murder mystery event was very well-run and good fun.
