“Great holiday!”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

I was a little apprehensive about a camping holiday as I'm not usually into that sort of thing, but Bella Italia turned out to be a great holiday for us. There are various sizes of mobile home to choose from or you can opt for a bungalow or an actual camp. We chose a mobile home, it was quite small, even though it had 2 bedrooms, but we found it had everything we needed and actually would be bigger than a family room in a hotel anyway. I was surprised the mattresses were so comfy and we had the best sleep for the week we were there! There's also a BBQ supplied with every home if you feel like cooking in every night, a lot of people seem to do that in Bella Italia and with a good supermarket on site it would work out very reasonable to feed your family for a week on holidays. There's a hairdressers, takeaway, souvenir shops, a few restaurants/bars, bike rental, good ice cream shop, doctor, on site so if you didn't want to leave the campsite for the week you wouldn't have to. Bella italia is very well located near Peschiera del Garda, you can get a train, bus, boat from here to all over Lake Garda and it's really worthwhile travelling to see some of the towns as it's a beautiful area. All in all a great experience, if I had to give minus points, our mobile home could have been cleaner when we arrived, but I cleaned it myself anyway. Also the wifi reception in the wifi area is really not good.

Room Tip: It's essential to have air conditioning in the mobile homes. You have to be out of your mobile...

We visited this camping with our caravan car and stayed only two nigths as we were on our Italia trip and were visiting several places. The Bella Italia was one of the best camping places. It's near the lake, there are several pools, restaurants and we all liked it. We were there when weather was just fantastic, every day full sun and +30 at least :) We spent our days by the lake or by the pool. Kids just loved the place and I think we will be back someday!

I had high hopes for Bella Italia, having heard good things about it, but I was bitterly disappointed. The problems started with a 1hr 20min queue to check in: the check-in system is hopelessly inadequate for the numbers they deal with.

We estimated that the campsite has about 1000 units of accommodation and can cater for somewhere in the region of 3 to 4,000. However the facilities are not adequate to cater for these types of numbers- the pool area was thronged and it was impossible to get a sun lounger if you didn't queue before it opened. I did notice the staff removing towels that had been used to reserve seats, which was a positive, but the places filled in seconds. The pool was so full at times it was like human soup.

I ordered coffee and ice cream at a the pool side cafe on one occasion and ended up having to queue 4 times: once to be told I had to pay first, once to pay, once for the ice cream and finally for the coffee and they weren't busy at the time. Inefficiency seems to run to the very core of this place

There are a few basic toddler playgrounds suitable for maybe under 5's, but apart from playing pitches, there was no free. playground for the 5 to 12 age group. There were two small amusement areas: Bel Park and Sun Park where you pay for everything.

We ate in the park twice. On the second night in Corta Riga we found a beetle in our son's meal- that was the end of eating in the park restaurants!

We were in a Mimosa chalet which was not clean- I had to remove handfuls of hair from the shower to get it to drain. Also, there was barely space to park our small hire car outside.

Everywhere in the site is busy and crowded. I could not wait to leave. The last straw came during check out when I queued for 20mins only to be told I was in the wrong queue and had to join another queue! My patience deserted me at that point.

I found this place truly awful.

We stayed here recently for a weekend to spend some time with our family. The site is huge but it is within walking distance of the lake and it does have decent facilities. The grounds themselves are very clean although some of the bins were overflowing. You can hire bikes on site which a lot of people did in order to get from your accommodation to the pools, restaurant etc. There are cars everywhere so it did feel a little unsafe for our 3 and 5 year old children. The supermarket is well stocked, there are a few restaurants to choose from and there are several pools. We booked our mobile home through eurocamp as it was a reputable site with good reviews. Eurocamp do provide good daily entertainment for the children and they are run well. My main problem was our accommodation. We opted for the 2 bed Espirit with a/c which is VERY small and It had not been cleaned prior to our stay. The smell of stale urine was overpowering. My daughter asked to use the toilet but then complained of the smell. When I looked at the toilet and the floor around it, it was covered in urine. The seating area in the kitchen was tatty, falling apart and very uncomfortable. There were only two chairs at the table so you had no choice but to balance yourself on the foam sofa. Sheets and duvets are separate so we brought our own and dressed the beds ourselves. The cutlery, plates, glasses were grubby and needed to be scrubbed and the gas cooker did not work. We did not complain at the time because we were only there for 3 nights and we wanted to enjoy the time with our family. Fortunately, there was so much to do on site and in the surrounding area so we did not spend too much time in the mobile home.

Just back from a week here and we will definitely be back. Our kids were 11 and 5 and they loved it, didnt want to leave. Although the weather wasnt great, we arrived at the end of a heat wave to mostly overcast weather, it didnt ruin the week as there was so much to do. The shops and resteraunts on site were good but we hired a car so we shopped in the local supermarket or lidl which was a five minute drive from the site and much cheaper. The local towns are beautifull and well worth a visit. Trips on the lake are reasonable and would definitely recommend a trip to Gardaland if you have kids, the best theme park we have been too.
Only complaint would be the noise after 11 at night. The no noise policy didnt seem to be enforced and a few nights it was after 2am before it quietened down. We were lucky enough to be in a row with no dutch and I only say this because they seem to travel in groups and the majority of the noise centered around rows of chalets with orange flags draped from them as it was world cup time.
Aside from this I really could not fault the place and as I said we will be back. One bit of advise prepare for a long queue at check in especially if you are checking in on a Saturday. It took over 2 hours which is long time for kids itching to get into the pool!

Room Tip: The chalets closer to reception seem to be quieter

We spent a week here from 28th may till 4th June with Eurocamp. This was our third holiday with them, this being a much larger park then we had visited before. We stayed in a 2 bed classic cabin, which we had stayed it before. It was small as we expected, but older than others we have visited. It was dated and a little bit tatty but everything worked fine. We had hired a car for the holiday as it was cheaper than arranging an airport transfer with eurocamp, but we could have easily managed without it. The supermarket on site is very well stocked and the green grocers was excellent. There was also a shop selling camping gear and another selling pool toys etc. there is also a hairdressers, arcade and an ice cream shop. I think the site has 3 restaurants and a couple of bars. We ate out a few times, but always at the same restaurant nearest our cabin. It was good with lovely pasta and pizza. The meat dishes were more variable in their quality. The children's menu was poor, burgers and chips, sausages and chips etc. we tended to order 1 pasta dish which our girls shared. Didn't get to try any of the bars but the supermarket wine and beer was good and very reasonably priced. We did go to the mini disco every night, which our girls loved. They are 5 years old and stayed up late for it as it didn't start till 8.30pm, an earlier start would have been good given that it was aimed at young children. We went to 'bel park' a couple of time, the on site mini theme park and it was good and reasonably priced. There were trampolines, boats and quad hikes.
The pools were the highlight of our trip. The main complex consisted of 4 pools. One was for swimming lengths and you needed to wear a swim hat for this. I don't understand why, particularly when they made a bald guy put one on! These pools were busy and there were lots of loungers 'reserved' with towels. There was a terrace that was sandy hitch was closed at first but after a couple of days was opened. There were signs that said you needed to pay for the loungers here, but that wasn't enforced. I thought it was a bit cheeky! There was a second complex of smaller pools which were nearer our cabin. These were much less busy as there were no slides. All pools were cool, I didn't feel much in the way of pool heating. It was ok when it was hot, but some days were cooler (about 20degrees) so you wouldn't consider going in then.
The eurocamp kids club was brilliant. I was impressed by how well run it was and how the adult to child ratios were strictly stuck to. Our girls really enjoyed it and we enjoyed a little bit of time to ourselves. We went to nearby Peschiera one morning, which is a pretty little town full of tacky shops. We also took a family trip to Sirmione which was beautiful, but too busy, especially for 5 year olds. We climbed the castle which gave great views, but didn't stay for dinner as we had planned as parking was expensive.
One improvements the site could make would be to give more information about all that they offer. A folder in the cabins detailing the facilities, their costs and opening times would be very useful for all visitors but I would have thought would mean more people use these facilities so would benefit the sit too. One day there was a market that came to the site with around 6-8 stalls. We stumbled across it, but it wasn't advertised anywhere.

NIce for the kids but already in may to crowded - We were living in an a bungalow which was as you could expect.

The surroundings are nice and location at the Garda Lake is very nice.

I think it is very strange that some of the activities for the kids on the camp are only for kids from special travel agencies.

Further we had some problems checking out where we were charged extra fees due to broken keycard - which was broken as we received it
