Camping Village Internazionale Firenze
Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

I think that this place would be perfect for those people who like camping without services.
The stalls are not signed and you can choose a place wherever you want.
Also a large part of the stalls are quite inclinated and it is very difficult to put a roulotte or a caravan.
The buildings are old, bad keept and cleaningless.
Do not expect clean toilets here. They have automatic sanitizer but they are not working.
Showers have not lights so if you come back after dusk you have to get a shower in almost darkness.
The laundry was used also as a dish washing room because the where you should wash your dishes there is a warehouse.
I think that some inconvenient are acceptable or if the owners have to complete some restoration works after the season is just beginned is not a problem (this is camping life not a five star hotel) but I think that cleaning of common places must but done every day.
after all this lack of services the fares are very high season.
Absolutely inaceptable.

This is a convenient site to get a bus into Florence but it is right next to a busy motorway and expensive at 35 euro per night for a small camper van in mid-October. To me, the whole set-up was 'mean'. The toilets had no loo paper and the showers were so small that it was really difficult to find a method of hanging up a towel that wouldn't get soaked. The bottled water for sale in the camp shop was prohibitively expensive and the use of wi-fi was also really pricey despite only being available in a small area of the site. Elsewhere, we have had wi-fi available across sites at no additional cost. The young woman at reception on our arrival was kind and helpful but when we left, an older woman (the boss?) was decidedly surly. This isn't a place that I would want to return to and feel certain that there must be alternatives that would offer a better experience.

Room Tip: Make sure that you choose a site up the hill to be as far from the motorway as possible.

The good thing about this site was the pitch - very large. And there was a reasonably sized field to walk the dog (although much of it was submerged under old mattresses etc). But the good ends there. The toilet block was filthy, thick cobwebs and dirt everywhere and the showers failed to drain, shower water poured out into the (dirty) corridor. Most unpleasant - but at the least the water was hot. Wifi was expensive and available only in the bar which entailed a climb down (and up) a steep hill. The worst feature was the toilet blocks, I cannot understand how Acsi approved these, I think they should visit again and actually try having a shower. The site can be noisy and crowded with Kontiki campers - young people having a good time - great stuff but be warned about the noise!

We stayed three nights at this campsite near Florence in the first week of September.
Good things: nice places to pitch your tent, with a lot of shadow under fruit (and other) trees; a swimming pool (notice: obligation is to wear a swimming cap; when do Italians stop with this ridiculous, irrational habit???); acceptable restaurant with tasty, relatively cheap pizzas; bus connection to centre of Firenze with bus stop at about 12 minutes walk from the campsite); ATM near reception; good accessibility. In contrast to the experience of others we were welcomed by a very adequate lady at the reception who was friendly, helpful and to the point.
Not so good things: shop was very expensive; camping is also visited by travel organization Contiki (this implies groups of usually young tourists who stay in cabins; they tend to produce a lot of noise – as we also experienced at other campings !, particularly at night - and do not respect other campers); loud music all day near the restaurant; prices for using internet are much too high – we stopped wondering why this seems the rule at campsites particularly in Italy!); moderate washing and toilet facilities – hygiene should be better!

Have to say that this venue went out of its way to make our stay as difficult as possible. Having intended to stay for three nights we subsequently cut our stay short to find alternative accommodation. On the surface the sight is adequate, though expensive - we paid 37 Euros for the privilege of pitching a tent overnight. Having been told we could leave at our convenience we thought we would take the time to visit Florence locally. When we came to check out we were told that because we did not check out before 2pm we would have to pay for another night. Only after severe arguing and stubbornness did the owners agree not to charge a second night - even after claiming it was 'out of their hands' because the computer wouldn't let them change the invoice. Ridiculous.

Room Tip: You can find better accommodation locally for less.

I stayed here with Contiki and it definitely could have been better. The cabins themselves were decent sized but the bathroom was awfully dirty... I avoided showering for the two nights we stayed here because I felt cleaner that way. There were mosquitoes and bees EVERYWHERE! Obviously the campsite can't control that but still, our room was infested with them. And I hate to say this because people really freak out over it, but I have to add it anyway - I did get bed bugs at this location. That can honestly happen anywhere though so I don't blame the staff or Contiki, it was simply an inconvenience that I had to deal with for at least two weeks afterward. There was a woman working in reception who was terrible; she was so rude and condescending to all of us, it was shocking. We wanted to purchase 24 hours of wifi so we came down to reception at 10:50 (they close at 11). This woman outright said "NO" and informed us that they were already closed. We just felt it was a really an unpleasant way of handling the situation. The actual campsite is beautiful though and I enjoyed the atmosphere quite a bit. As previously stated, it's probably not a great choice if you have kids, because there will be Contiki people wandering around at all hours of the night.

Stayed here as part of a Contiki tour. The cabin that we got was very clean! I shared one with my girlfriend and one other person from our tour and we had loads of space between us. Had two separate bed rooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 twin beds. Had a nice little common area that had a table and a seating area. The bathroom was also very large and had a great shower. The camping area also had a nice like bar that you could just grab a beer and relax. It was also very hot during the day but under the trees it wasn't bad. It also cooled off a lot at night. The location was also very good. I would stay again for sure. Great value for what you got. We stayed in cabins like this in Italy and i would have to say that this place was the best for sure. Reason being the cabin seemed very new and were very clean.
