“Perfect!”

We hired a driver (Romelimousineplus.com) to transport our family of four from Florence to Rome. We made a full day of it and toured the tuscan countryside along the way. When it came time for lunch Pietro, our driver, brought us to this gem of a restaurant near Montalcino. We had the best meal of our entire Italian vacation here. The menu offered the flavors of Tuscany both traditional and with a fine chef's flair. It is absolutely worth discovering this restaurant!

“Truly Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

Without a doubt the best meal we had on our 2 week trip to Tuscany. A huge thank you to Cristian and Giorgia for bringing such quality to Montalcino. The setting is beautiful and the food is unmatched in the region. The complementary tomato soup was delicious. If you are fortunate enough to dine here, please order the risotto alla Brunello which was the best dish of our trip. This is a great stop after visiting Sant Antimo or the wineries of Montalcino. Molto Buono!!!

“BEST meal in Tuscany, but FAR”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

This was BY FAR the best meal we had in Tuscany (and we ate at the best restaurants for lunch and dinner we could find in many towns every day for 10 days). FINALLY we found creative, innovative, gastronomic and beautifully presented cuisine with a respect for the local produce and traditions. A foodies paradise. Great service from the young couple (chef and matre) who run the pace with tremendous passion. Its a short drive from Montlacino but its 1000% worth it. DON NOT miss this gem!

“best restaurant in Montalcino”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

This restaurant you have to visit when you are in the area of Montalcino. The restaurant is located down the hill and has a beautiful garden. We were amazed by all the delicious dishes and the excellent service. The chef himself explained a few of his favorite dishes. And besides pasta (which you find in every other restaurant) you have a huge variety of different dishes. The tuna with sesame was our favorite dish. Make sure to leave some room for desert.

“Nice location, very slow service and terrible food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

After our visit at two fabolous wineries (Col d'Orcia and Castello Banfi) and after a tour in the delighttful town of Montalcino we (two couples) decided to book a table at this restaurant following the suggestions of reviewers and considering its ranking at number 1 in Montalcino area.
It has been a real nightmare !
Location is very nice, nestled close to the vineyards Biondi Santi but gardens were rather in need of urgent care.
A kind waitress welcomed us but she did not remember our name and how many people. We preferred to satay indoor becuase the alternative place suggested was a "gazebo" in a short distance, which looked quite agly.
Wine list and menus looked very nice and inviting and the Montalcino Rosso by Piccolomini Ciacci D'Aragona was excellent and was served appropriately.
Three of us decided to taste the proposed set menu based on famous Tuscan meat flavours.
First disappointment was the bread served promptly with the red wine: despite the fact that the breads were announced as home cooked breads they all tasted gunny and stale.
The cold cuts starter was elegantly presented, but this is not cooking. The two small "coccol" little fried breads tasted a bit better than the served breads, but they were gummy as well and not just right cooked.
After fourty minutes finally we got the penci (home made pici) with wildboar meat sauce: the pasta was of very bad quality and all broken (you could eat with a teaspoon and the sauce was so stinking that neither an added touch of olive oil and abundant parmesan on request could cancel the negative smell and terrible taste: we are lovers of wildboar sauce and we have tasted in hundreds of Italian (Tuscany and Umbria overall) restaurants and this sauce was the worrst ever. One of us decided after the first taste not to eat at all.
Third course was the grilled beef with green sauce and red wine salt. We had to wait longer and we were looking forward for a delicious tagliata, but we were simply disappointed and frustrated.
Despite the fact that the waitress and the chef Christian did not ask about our preferences for a rare or medium or well done (we usually prefer rare/medium) the meat was served in small slices and small quantity (luckily) and was simply tasteless. I think that it's very difficult to get a suh tasteless meat, but they won the day witout salt, without black pepper and neither the awful green sauce and the insipid red wine salt could help.
After such experience and two hours torture we decided to skip any dessert and coffee and we left after we paid a bill of Euro 35,50 per person: this price is ridicolous for a nice meal and it's seriously huge forthis very sad bad experience.
I guess it's the first time in the past thirty years that we leave a restaurant table without dessert and coffee, but we were sure that this was the right choice.
