“Again, a fantastic experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

We did this tour again this year, excited as we were last year (see review below). This year it was a more set route - we visited 2 vineyards before lunch and 2 vineyards after lunch. Surprisingly, we were only 4 people on the tour this day, but that meant that we got to know each other and had a good time together.

Because of vacation period, the two vineyards before lunch were substituted with 2 others - fortunately for us since we had visited these two last year and got the chance to meet the people at these farms again.

After lunch we visited two new vineyards - both very nice.

The good things with the BWB (Brunello Wine Bus) is that you get a chance to meet the people behind the fantastic Brunello produce. You hear the story, see the passion, learn the "secrets" of good wine making.

We will be back next year!

“Wonderful day - wonderful people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2011

We heard about this tour from our hotel Di Capitani. When we contacted Artemisia in Montalcino, they were fantastic, explaining and recommending. Great people!

Based on their recommendation, we picked the Thursday tour:

We started early in the morning at 9.00am and visited the Villa I Cipressi (9.04am): besides producing wines, the estate does also have their own beehives from which they gain not only excellent honey but also other products, for example cosmetics. It was a very pleasant experience and the son of the owner presented the vinery and the products - the Brunello had got 95 points in Winespectator. We ended the visit with complementary half a bottle of Brunello on the terrasse, waiting for the bus to come.

We boarded back on the coach at 11.05am and dropped off at Castello Banfi (11.44am), one of the most renowned wineries of this area, where you have the special entrance with the Brunello Wine Bus ticket at the Glass Museum and at the balsamic vinegar cellars - eventually you can decide to stay here also for lunch, as they have an excellent restaurant called Taverna. This is a large producer, and as we were spoiled by the personal service at Villa Cipressi, we felt a bit lost among large groups of visitors.

We boarded back on the bus after an hour and went off at Querce Bettina (1.05pm): we were really enchanted arriving there.. you pass from a wooden dirt road which suddenly opens up on this estate where the owners are sooo friendly that you will like to spend your whole day there! They do also include a tasting of the grapes jam they produce and besides using their pool you can also ask them to prepare a light lunch with typical products, which they can do very well and at very affordable rates! We went for the lunch with own produced olive oil, jam and of course wine. Roberto showed us the winery and told us the story of this rather "young" vineyard. This is absolutely worth a visit!

Finally, a bit exhausted, we boarded back on the bus at 3.34pm. We considered to return back to Montalcino, but decided for the last winery; Marchesato degli Aleramici. And what a treat! Emile and Emma welcomed us and we got a tour. Then we were showed the special selection of wines in their private wine cellar. Sitting in the cellar, surounded by the winecasks and the old bottles, we tasted the various wines the produce. A fantastic experience and wonderful wines (we bought too many to bring on the plane, but enjoyed them during the rest of the Italy trip :). We ended the day at their pool before returning back with the bus.

This was a fantastic experience and we will do it again!

“Great wine, horrible drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2011

My husband and I recently went on the Brunello tour. The tour started out rocky because we were picked up 30-45 minutes late and then the driver tried to make the time up by driving very fast. The fast driving through the hills caused a lot of motion sickness amongst the group. Once we got the the wineries we had a great time. The 2 wineries were very informational and very fun. We went to Montalcino as well and that was great. Overall we had a good time but the driving was too much to handle.
