The food is okay, the restaurant is big, but still very nice. Friendly people, also a good restaurant for having dinner with children.

We were in Montalcino and decided to have our dinner at San Giorgio after looking at a few restaurants. We found the place quite cozy, and the food tasty and reasonably priced. We had the Funghi and Ossobuco Piselli for our main dishes, and were very satisfied with both dishes. Certainly worth a visit when in Montalcino.

the lively ristorante is ran by 7 brothers,(fun part)
Our pizza and wine were quite tasty, (tasty part)
near the end of our meal, one of the brothers sat a full bottle of delicious liquor down on our table..on the house (surprising part)
What a special memory. If you are traveling thru Montalcino, be sure and find San Giorgio

First night in Montalcino and we expected to be able to walk in anywhere as it is late September and the village has lots of places to eat. But proves the point that the good ones are always busy. Thankfully the hotel rang ahead and booked a table. There were two parties of 12 that looked local, families and lots of Italians. The food was excellent, huge plate of wild boar stew, the chicken in Brunello sauce was very thick and tasty and we had excellent fagiolo beans. Wine from across the street at excellent prices and no stupid UK 3 or 4 times mark ups. All in recommended and a huge selection of pizzas that looked good as they canoe out to tables.

It's a small, crowded place and it's crowded because the food is good, the wine fairly price and the service friendly.
The pizza is the reason to go here though. It was recommended to us by a local who teaches cooking classes.
