“Gorgeous villa and grounds; central to some of Toscana's finest red wines.”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Plenty of room and a beautiful view from every angle at this villa. Huge pool and many relaxing ways to spend your day. About 10 km from Montalcino, we found the locals extremely friendly, helpful, and fun.

Recommend getting Nicola out for two nights: once to make personal brick-oven pizzas, and once for his excellent cooking class. He has a great sense of humor, and he speaks very good English.

Only one room is without an in-suite bathroom, and it's the room with two single beds that go together as one loose full-size. This room is in the detached building with a small kitchen, living room, and veranda.

If you are arriving on a Saturday, ensure you pick up groceries before arriving, enough to hold you over until Monday. While there's a lady with a small shop in Montalcino, open on Sunday, her hours are somewhat sporadic. There are COOP stores in a few towns, as you approach either from the north or south of the villa.

The villa is near Castelnuovo Dell Abate, and there, you will find the Sant'Antimo abbey. Stunningly simple and awe inspiring to hear the monks' chant. Stop for a schedule before planning your required longer visit. Most all of the external information was incorrect, and only a pamphlet from the caretaker had the most accurate info.

You can't go wrong with just about any wine tour...we used a local guide, Giovanni, with Alessandro, and they did a wonderful job. Visit the Tornesi vineyard, and have Mauritsio's (sp?) wonderful wife and daughter cook you a traditional Tuscan meal. We didn't leave hungry...and the taste, along with their charm, is etched in our minds. Giovanni arranged it and is well referenced in Trip Advisor.

Our only two issues was a missing toilet seat and a lousy wireless router that needed continued rebooting when overloaded beyond 5-6 users, checking email and posting pictures when arriving back from sightseeing.

Otherwise, we had a blast.

“Peaceful Bliss”

Myself, my husband, and 7 other members of my extended family (ages ranging from mid-20s to 80) spent a week at Villa Brunello in mid-September of this year. Everything was simply perfect from the moment we arrived. The villa is located down a dirt path in the middle of the most breathtaking rolling hills/valley and surrounded by a vineyard that is actively run by the family that manages the property. We were lucky to have been staying right during harvest and were able to experience the workings of a vineyard during that time. The villa is right on the outskirts of Montalcino with convenient access to many Tuscan towns. We made day trips to approximately 10-15 gorgeous towns and it was always the best part of the day to come back to the Villa, take a swim in the gorgeous pool and relax with a glass of the vineyard's own wine before dinner. Highly recommend this property!
