“Piece of History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

We stopped here for cafe and dolci whilst touring the surrounding area. To know that this cafe was founded by Brunello himself made it worth the visit. Yes, you know it will be relatively expensive, but it wasn't that much and the cakes were delicious. The service was very good too, as one might expect. The interior of the caffe is a throwback to what would appear to be art deco, and is very ornate.

A must to visit if you are in the area.

“Central cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

It's the hallmark cafe and stopping off place in Montalcino - not dissimilar in style to The Poliziano in Montepulciano. A grand old cafe where all and sundry take the time to people watch over a caffe or glass of wine. The people are not particularly friendly nor particularly welcoming but, who cares? It truly is a place of great beauty. Stop by if you can.

“Great Brunello”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

We stopped here for a glass of wine and a light snack. We shared a bread salad and a plate of cheese with three kinds of cheese and 3 kinds of meat and olive pate. It was accompanied by 8 slices of bread and the salad was large. More than enough food to accompany an 04 Brunello which was delicious. Cheerful quick service, even though they were busy. Nice for people watching as it is located in a main thoroughfare. Just down the street is a wonderful bakery which makes fabulous cannolis for dessert!

“Great spot for a glass of Brunello”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

We stopped here for a drink and a snack during the L'Apertura delle Cacce (festival to celebrate the opening of the hunting season). It was a great location to watch the parade of the contrade in medieval costume. We expected to pay a little more because of the location, a glass of 2008 Brunello was about 7-8 Euros. Service was attentive, and my husband felt the Bruschetta one of the best he had tasted.
