“Exceptional staff location food”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Great location 2 minutes from great beach though sea varied with weather which was fine for adult family as we were in the waves or swimming when calm.

The lower restaurant had stunningly good service and food. As we had inclusive "free" 4 course meals were a must. Inventive, well balanced and particular thanks to Valeria and Giovanni. Front of house were also great and focused on helping customers and serving staff.

September was a good time but we did have one downpour which made us English feel at home.

Room Tip: All seemed good with and without views

Just got back from a great week's stay at this busy hotel. The food and service was excellent. I must stay we preferred the waiter/waitress served restaurant as it was less frenetic than the buffet service. The staff were courteous and helpful at all times. The Wellness centre was quite expensive but well worth the 25 euros for a half day's visit - the warm salt water pool and jacuzzi did it for me and provided an oasis of calm. There is a good restaurant overlooking the beach and an excellent pizzaria in Isola Rossa if you want to dine out. We would definitely consider a return visit. PS - we found the quality of the evening entertainment excellent and thoroughly enjoyable.

Room Tip: We had had a suite and appreciated the extra living space. An upstairs room would be preferable to c...

We stayed in the hotel during September 2013 in our Honeymoon.

We really recomand to stay in this well-kept and beautiful hotel!!!
It was the PERFECT vacation!!!

# The location: The hotel is in Isola Rossa and has BEAUTIFUL view! It's 1:30h drive from Costa Smreralda and Olbia, 0:40m from Santa Teresa di gallura, and 1:40h from Alghero.
# The Food: The breakfast is quite basic but with a lot of choices, good food and great service!
The dinner is AMAZING, especially in the second restaurant (the one that you need to book in the morning).
Launch is basic. We recommend eating in the nice pizzerias in Isola Rossa (10 min' walk or 2-3 min' drive).
# The Rooms: We stayed in the Suite. We arrived around 12:00am and the room was ready for us :) Very clean, big and really papering!
# The Spa: The hotel offers free Honeymoon packages! So we got great wine and olive oil + 3 entrances to the spa. The Sauna and the Hamam are very nice as well as the relax room and the Jacuzzi. I ordered a body wrap treatment that was very nice and relaxing.
# The Pool and the Beach: The beach is 2 minutes walk on a beautiful road. The 2 outdoor pools are very nice and the chairs are great because they have a sun roof! Perfect for relaxing!
# The staff: The most AMAZING thing in the hotel is the staff!!!! From the reception, through the restaurants, the waiters and the spa. Great attitude, very helpful, very professional. They really made our vacation!!

What to Improve:
1. The lunch
2. The armchairs in the suite a bit old
3. Some repainting in the Spa and the Hamam

Take in mind that if you want to travel in the area you need a car. It's a bit drive to some places (as written in Location), but we didn't mind and we think that it's really in the middle if you want to visit Alghero too. It was fun for us to discovre the beautiful island of Sardinia.

Room Tip: The basic roomes are great and no less then the suite!

If you are looking for a base to explore Sardinia then this isn't the place for you - it is on the far side of the island and so a long way from the gorgeous beaches of the Costa Smeralda. However, if you want somewhere to relax, sit back and just enjoy the view and the weather then this is definitely the place for you. We have just returned from a week and thoroughly enjoyed it.

On the first evening I felt as though I had arrived at a very expensive Butlins as there was a buffet where everyone seemed to rush for the food (and I felt it was all a bit unnecessary) and there was also live entertainment. I wondered how I had got it so wrong! However, by sitting in a quieter area of the restaurant then the buffet was a very pleasant experience as it gave the opportunity to sample lots of different Italian dishes. The food was of a very high standard. The live entertainment simply signalled when we went back to our room!

We had a suite which was great. I would recommend paying more for a larger room if you can afford it as it just gave us a bit more space. However, each room was front facing and so offered some view of the sea.

The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They took genuine delight in helping and were a real pleasure to be served by. I haven't seen so many people smiling in quite sometime!

The beach loungers had a cost which is standard for Italy, but I thought it was a really nice touch that everyone was given a sliceof melon towards the end of the day - the beach staff came round and gave a slice out to everyone! It was these small touches which made it a great holiday, I felt that there was a lot of attention to detail and this really paid off.

I saw the manager walking around every day, and this care and concern was reflected by every member of staff. A great trip. Thank you.

The Marinedda is in a fantastic location and has good facilities and excellent food, but while this combination should spell excellence it lets it self down by not knowing what it wants to be.
The location of the hotel and the way the rooms are set out in the hotel grounds suggests intimacy and romance. However, the child friendly nature of the restaurants, bars and open spaces means that this is definitely not a place for couples.
We travelled as a family of four, with two teenage boys, and discovered that while it is family friendly there is not a lot for children over the age of 14.
Based on the Tripadvisor rating, we were also expecting more to do on the beach, but again the hotel seemed to have no strategy to exploit this asset. The beach at Marinedda is a wonderful crescent shape, and only a few hundred yards walk downhill from the hotel reception and rooms. The hotel has its own section of the beech where loungers and parasols can be rented (€15 / full day or €10 / half day for 2 loungers and a parasol), the disappointment is that this seems to be the only thing the hotel has to offer. They have a range of equipment that is probably available to rent, but the beech staff make no effort to promote any activity what so ever. Thankfully there are other outfits on the beech that are a bit more proactive, offering, surfboards, body boards, kayaks and wake boarding.
I just think the hotel is missing a trick.
The rooms were nice, we had a suite and a superior room both with balconies and sea views, which were great. Each had air con which was nice in the heat although we found it a little noisy at night. The only surprise with the rooms were that they didn't have what I'd call conventional beds. The mattresses are thin and hard and the beds metal framed and noisy. (Tip: hairdryers are wall mounted and not that good, ours was broken as well. Normal plug in hairdryers are available by request if required).
The hotels best feature is its food. The main restaurant serves food, buffet style, and we enjoyed every meal we ate. There are also two waitress service restaurants that serve fresh, local produce that are booked at breakfast. One is free, the other on the roof terrace charges €12 per person supplement. We ate in the free restaurant twice, the food was good but was let down by the service. On the first occasion we were shown to our table and then promptly ignored for several minutes. The second occasion they misplaced our reservation and we were made to feel like an inconvenience throughout the sitting even though it was far from being full. We had booked to eat at the roof terrace but after our experience cancelled in favour of the buffet. (Note: all restaurants are child friendly and make no provision for couples, the two restaurants that require a reservation are next to the kids club stage that gets very noisy from about 930pm)
We were on a half board package and on the few occasion we felt like lunch ate at the pool bar, trying several things from the menu all of which were perfectly fine and good value.
We didin’t use the spa so can’t comment but didn’t understand why it was there, the Marinedda never felt like an exclusive spa retreat. We felt it was trying to be too many things to too many different groups and apart from the food could do better in a number of areas.

The location was great for us it felt remote but we the hotel is near a nice beach which has a shuttle, limited times though, we walked because we never made it there at the right times. We went with two children under 9. They enjoyed the fresh water pool more than the salt water.

The family suite was spacious, we coped without the mattress topper but next time would get one.
The families there were predominantly Italian, a few French, some English and a handful of German so we really felt like we escaped. We went on fab boat trip with Pierro.

The food was consistently excellent. Plenty of fish, seafood and meat options every night. The children don't have a separate food offering which mayor may not suit. The service restaurants were also fab. The roof top one was wonderful and we felt all restaurants were excellent value. We were half board. We found the lunch time buffet at €22 per head a bit steep for adults and kids alike so we went to the pool side bar most days which was limited but okay. The beach restaurant is much better but it is independent from the hotel and English is hardly spoken at all there, fun!

Marcella the Thomson rep was so helpful we were glad to have a Sardinian local to welcome us and suggest things. The reception team were helpful too. Even getting us a prescription for our children.

The entertainment was okay but obviously caters for the Italian majority and so you need to learn a few words of Italian. This was not ideal for kids club unless you child has other English friends going.

My only real gripe is lack of English TV station for kids in the rooms at chill out, siesta time. Download films for kids, selves before you go as Wifi here is painfully slow.

Overall an excellent holiday.

We booked this holiday with Thomson and had a fantastic time at the Marinedda hotel (we returned yesterday). We had paid for a sea view room and were given a room right at the top of the resort with an amazing view of the bay. The friendly staff, excellent management and amazing food made our stay perfect. We had chosen half-board and being vegetarian there was a huge variety of delicious food on offer. The standard of the buffet was outstanding at all times, and chef Stefano must be praised as he made Spaghetti pomodoro just for me on request, on the busiest night of the week. What we particularly liked was the quiet location of the hotel and the beautiful beach - o.k., it costs 12 Euros for 2 sun beds and an umbrella, but it's worth it! There are also two swimming pools (one salt and one fresh water) and many trips on offer. We went on the northern Sardinia highlights trip offered by the hotel - we can only recommend it, as it takes you to the Archipelago, which is breathtaking. Thomson also offer this trip but we did not fancy the wine sampling. We also went on the boat trip offered by Thomson, which is another must. Piero takes you on his boat to the most amazing inlets and bays along the coast. We went snorkelling off his boat and from a secluded beach, and Marcella, the most wonderful and charismatic rep we have ever encountered, accompanies you on the trip. Piero even offered home-made flat bread, cheese, salami and wine to us at lunch time. All in all it was a truly unforgettable and amazing holiday with a personal touch.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a sea view room!
