“Look no further for faultless accommodation and outstanding hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

Villa la Mirabella is without doubt in the perfect location for visiting Lake Como, but don't stay here just for this reason, come for the warm hospitality and attention to detail. From the moment we arrived Paolo, who speaks perfect English, was always available to offer advice or to have a friendly chat.
The villa is superbly decorated throughout with no detail overlooked, original features have been restored and the new additions such as the conservatory and modern bathrooms blend in perfectly. The garden is a joy to explore and the loggia with views to the lake is very special. I am sure the pool would be wonderful in summer.
Breakfast, served by Paolo in the conservatory is plentiful and the views across the lake are wonderful. We highly recommend dinner, prepared by Paolo's father, a former restaurateur, and served in the intimate dining room.
Although we had terrible weather while staying here the availability of dinner in the evening and the location of Villa la Mirabella even made this bearable. We were able to walk next door to Villa Carlotta and the ferry stop nearby or in the opposite direction to the Cadenabbia stop for trips to Bellagio. An on-site carpark is another bonus in this area.
Don't look any further than Villa la Mirabella for a special place to stay on Lake Como.

Room Tip: The rooms on the roadside have superb views over Lake Como towards Bellagio yet are very quiet for s...

We recently stayed in a suite at the Mirabella with our two sons. We were part of a family group that took over the hotel for wedding celebrations.

The accommodation was immaculate and the daily breakfast was without fault - coffees and teas were served very efficiently and there was a lovely supply of fruit juices. Paolo and his family run the hotel beautifully and they were incredibly gracious about requests for additional items like ice and knives and chopping boards (what is a summer wedding without Pimms?!). We made good use of the small but lovely rooftop pool. A real sun trap and a lovely way to spend a few hours.

There was a painting of a scantily clad lady over the sofa bed which the boys were sharing. There were a good number of laughs at their interest in the 'naked lady'. We shall remember it always.

I had one very unfortunate experience on the night of the wedding. I could not find my keys (I looked through my handbag about 10 times and they were actually in our car at the Tremezzo where the wedding reception was held) and as we only had one set there was an anxious mid morning wait to gain access to the room. My husband and children were not happy with me. Be aware that this is a family run hotel and there is no one on the desk at night. We hadn't thought this scenario through! I can report that despite trying credit cards and bobby pins the locks were frustratingly/reassuringly secure. Luckily we had access to a phone and the internet and managed to rouse Paolo on the hotel reservation line. He was kind about it but could not have been happy to open a room at 3:45am.

The setting is amazing with stunning views across the lake. We only wish we'd had more opportunity to do some local sightseeing. We will have to plan a return visit.

Thank you for your gracious hospitality Paolo and family.

Room Tip: Had we been travelling as a couple and not with our 2&3 year old sons then I would have chosen a...

This is a truly lovely hotel immaculate and peaceful with beautiful softly coloured decor and solicitous unobtrusive service. Impeccable English is spoken by the main host and very helpful for advice on tours and weather. The rooms are very restful with that excellent combinations of shutters, double glazed inward opening windows and inner shutters so useful in the climate of Lake Como. THe ensuite is enormous and very clean and includes a bidet too not always found these days. Breakfast is taken in the conservatory with stunning views of the mountains and Bellagio peninsular. breakfast is simple continental with slices of ham and cheese with a good variety do breads and croissant/savouries plus jams and delicious yoghurt and fruit Joyce's. Dinner is optional but with the best ingredients cooked to perfection and simply served. It is very quiet and grown up truly a wonderful haven for the weary of spirit and for the romantic with so much to do and see so close by with little effort. There is also plenty of shady and quiets spots to read and dream the hours awAy at the front or in the rising garden swimming pool above. The whole place is beautifully laid out in space and decor suited to the climate and solicitous and helpful service.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking lake or garden equally good

We booked the Villa La Mirabella for five nights as our base for our daughter's wedding on June 8th at Balbianello. Both families and the wedding party stayed here. Paolo and his family define service. Every little detail is taken care of. We booked the suite on the first floor and it was spacious, spotless, and so comfortable. Paolo greeted us each morning with a smile and a breakfast that started with wonderful coffee and included croissants, fruit, cheese, ham, yogurt, juice and eggs if you needed some variety. When you walk out the front entrance, Cadenabbia and Tremezzo are steps away. You can walk to restaurants, have a coffee or drink on the water, take a ferry to see the lake, or just stroll on the waterfront and enjoy all the sights of Lake Como. If you want to relax the garden and pool await you.Their are excellent restaurants, wine bars, and shops all minutes from the villa. We have traveled to many corners of the world and Paolo, his family and Villa La Mirabella are in the top rated group of any place we have stayed. If you arrive by car, there is on site parking and you can leave it in the garage as the ferries are the way top see the lake. Enjoy La Mirabella!!

Room Tip: Ask for a superior lake view room or suite to really enjoy the view.

We loved our stay at Villa la Mirabella. The location is perfect, the villa and rooms are beautiful. Paulo is a wonderful host and front man for the family, full of helpful advice and local knowledge. The villa is perfectly located between 2 ferry stops with great access to Bellagio, Varenna and Villa Carlotta. There are great eating places in easy walking distance as well as by ferry. We had a lovely meal at the villa on our final night. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I spent our last night on Lake Como at the beautiful Villa la Mirabella.

We were upgraded to a suite! What a clean and elegant room it was.

Pablo and his family were gracious hosts. This was our best stay in all of Italy.

Booked this hotel based on the reviews on tripadvisor and I can only say that even the best review cannot give enough praise to the hotel and the family that runs it. Paolo and his family are incredible. We had booked a suite and after a long trip arrived at the hotel to find out that the suite we booked did not have a balcony. It was my fault,I thought all suites had a balcony and my wife was upset - she had her heart set on a balcony. They immediately heard my concern and switched our room. Could not have been more accommodating.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the location sublime. We are already planning a trip back - Do yourself a favor and book this little piece of paradise

Room Tip: If you book a suite make sure you ask for the one with a balcony - It iomos like heaven to sit on yo...
