Hotel La Darsena
Ranked #1 of 8 Hotels in Tremezzina
Certificate of Excellence

Like others, I'm not sure why this hotel is ranked so highly. I was shocked to see the location right on a very busy road. If your room wasn't on the lake-side you'd be in for a pretty unpleasant experience.

There is no lounge area of any kind, and it is extremely expensive given that it's only a 3-star hotel and is on the "wrong" side of the lake - Tremezzo doesn't have a lot to offer and Bellagio is so much nicer.

There is much emphasis on the restaurant, which is very good but also quite expensive.

The pluses were that service was excellent and our room was large and nicely designed. However, while it overlooked the lake, the view was minimal as the windows were tiny.

I would have ranged this hotel "poor" but for another plus - convenient car parking. That was an advantage for us at the time, compared to Bellagio.

Overall, my advice would be to look for better value elsewhere.

We booked this for six nights on the strength of its reviews in TripAdvisor and it didn't disappoint. The room is spacious with comfortable beds, and with a lovely bathroom which has been fitted very recently. The view was great both from the room and the restaurant. The staff cannot do too much. Had a problem logging on to hotel's wifi, but eventually solved by turning off data roaming. The C10 bus stop is right outside and the ferry is a two minute walk. If you use the bus you have to buy tickets in a shop, takes about an hour from Como. Villa Carlotta is a ten minute walk. Villa Balbianello at Lenno is worth a visit. We also had a day out in Milan. Take the bus to Com Lago station (end point) and the train to Milano Nord. Takes about 2.5 hours, but you end up right in the centre of Milan.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are great.

We stayed 3 nights at La Darsena, with a room overlooking the lake, and I can agree with much of what recent reviews have said. The thing to remember is that it is a 3 star hotel, so the rooms are not luxurious (very firm bed) but the views are. The restaurant appears to be aiming higher than 3 star which is fine, but for service it just misses out. We reserved a table early when we first checked in, but when we were seated for dinner, service was slow despite not being particularly busy. We were eventually offered a menu, but no wine list, - we were just left. In the end I had to request a wine list and ask for some water. From here on it was a case of top up your own glass. The meals came, very nicely presented. My partner's pasta was truly excellent, my sliced beef was tough and chewy, - I guess that can happen. We chose not to eat-in again as for the price, it just wasn't quite good enough. All that being said, the staff were fine and we would stay again. For other restaurant options, we loved the charming pizza place up the hill, and Azalea (about 200m past the ferry terminal).

Room Tip: Overlook the lake

We stayed at Hotel La Darsena for 3 nights. A charming place with modern bathrooms and immaculate rooms. A good value with a helpful staff. Maria was always pointing us in the right direction. Tiziano and Ezio really take pride in their hotel and work hard to make sure you're having a good stay. The rooms are comfortable if a bit sparse, but you can't beat the location being right on the lake and a 5 min. walk to the ferry. There was a bit of a glitch when we dined in their restaurant. We made a reservation and showed up right at the opening and there were maybe 3 or 4 tables seated. They soon got flooded and we ended up waiting 35 min. at our table with no bread or water. I knew they were busy, but all the other tables were getting service. I finally had to say something because it had been so long with no one ever coming over. It was a bit awkward, but once we said something, everything flowed. The food was wonderful and we did go back on another night just to erase the awkward first night. Other than the little glitch, it was a lovely stay and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

This was our first visit to this area. The hotel is in a lovely quiet area with amazing views over the lake. Very nice rooms and excellent service from very friendly staff. We stayed there two nights and ate in the restaurant at the hotel, incredible food!

Room Tip: Choose a room at the from of the hotel to get a good view of the lake

Everything about this hotel is amazing! The rooms are spacious, current, modern, updated, with lots of light. The views are jaw-dropping amazing both in your room and in the restaurant!!!

We had an attic room with gorgeous skylights, and a giant tub for soaking! The bed was very comfortable and the TV offered many services/channels in multiple languages.

If you speak with the reception and request dinner at the restaurant via reservation you will receive VIP treatment, a table with spectacular views, great food, amazing romantic atmosphere!!!

This hotel is spectacular!!!

Room Tip: Attic room w/ a view was spacious with a big tub!!!

Stayed at this hotel in October. Had attic room overlooking lake - lovely views. Hotel very clean and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food in restaurant excellent but a bit expensive. Hotel is very close to ferries to get around the lake. Would go again if we went to Lake Como again.

Room Tip: Ask for a Lake View.
