We stayed in Bellagio on Lake Coma for three nights. One of our excursions in Lake Como region was to Villa Carlotta a beautiful 17th century historic structure across from Bellagio in the vicinity of the village of Tremezzo. The Villa which is situated on about 17 acres, faces out on to Lake Como. It has nice Italian fountains and gardens on the grounds. The interior has some sculptures from Carnova and others including Mars and Venus by Luigi Acquisti. The villa gets its name from Princess Carlotta, who received the villa as a wedding gift from her mother in the 1800's.. We spent about an hour here and looked around the at the views of the Alps and Dolomites mountain ranges. The Alps were particularly appealing with Lake Como in the foreground.
