“Completely satisfied!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2012

My husband and I stayed at le Terrazze the last two weeks of August. We completely enjoyed our stay. The view from our balcony (front view) was simply spectacular, probably one of the best views your will find on the amalfi coast. Our room was very clean, the bathroom newly renovated. There is air conditioning, firm beds. The beach is very accessible: 200 hundred steps down to the public beach. It is a long walk down but this is to be expected on the amalfi coast because the towns are constructed on the cliffs, the pathway down is really charming and again the view is just gorgeous. The hotel only serves breakfast with a variety of items mainly cold (fresh pastries, hard boiled eggs, cheese, fruits, cereal etc..). The coffee is very good. For diner, we found that it was no problem to find a good meal near the hotel: the beach has 3 restaurants were you can find a good, affordable meal. There is a restaurant further up that offers transfer to and from the hotel, the hotel simply calls the restaurant that comes down to pick you up a few minutes later. The hotel offers a bar service which few people know about, you can enjoy a drink on the beautiful terrasse, you simply need to make the request at the reception. Also, it is important to know that the Italian restaurants usually do not serve dinner before 7:30 pm. The owner of the hotel Marcello speaks English and French. The personnel is very helpful in terms of informing you of the different excursions organized on the coast and making reservation for you.
There is a bus stop a few steps from the hotel where you can catch a bus to Amalfi (15 minutes) or towards Positano-Sorrento. A few tips on the SITA bus: be sure to have a reference point when going back to the hotel because the bus does not make all the stops, they only make the stops on request so you must know where to get off. To ask to get off, you ring the bell or call «fermata» (stop). Do not ask for the hotel le Terrazze because the bus driver might not know what you are talking about. The bus stop is at the hotel Belvedere, so to be well understood it is better to ask for the «fermata» Hotel Belvedere. Bare in mind that the drivers do not speak much English and are usually very impatient which is kind of understandable because driving a bus on those roads is absolutely crazy. Those SITA buses will give you quite a ride.

Room Tip: Be sure to choose a room with a frontal view.

Absolutely amazing hotel. Location was unbelievable. Situated on the top of a small village called conca dei Marini, which is between amalfi and positano, it offers a secluded beach that will take your breath away. Very local and authentic without the tourist trap nature of other hotels. The staff was always willing to help and very pleasant. There's even parking! The views from the rooms are incredible. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the amalfi coast at its finest

The hotel is placed between Amalfi and Praiano, outside the town of Conca dei Marini. The road joining these towns, the Costiera Amalfitana, is extremely narrow and full of dangerous curves. The view is stunning but having to drive or ride a bus up and down this road everyday can be pretty stressful. This becomes necessary as the hotel offers very few services. There are no restaurants inside the hotel but 3 small pizzerias down the steep stairs, at the beach. Water sports and boat tours are not available at that beach. Swimming is rather unappealing, as the beach is stony, not too clean and does not receive any sun after 4 pm in July. Chairs, parasols and access to a platform that receives sun until 6 pm are not offered for free but at rather strep prices. Breakfast is poor, the staff extremely unfriendly (telling you to go to Ibiza if you want to go out, or that they won't serve a double espresso with milk because espresso was invented in Italy and foreign variations are unacceptable) and speaks very poor English. The rooms are clean, spacious and have a nice but not spectacular view (mostly a sea view mixed with ceilings).

This hotel was definitely the right choice: an amazing view over the sea, quiet, very helpful and friendly staff and comfortable room. Other great things were
- the little beach down the stairs (which you take directly from the hotel): a charming place with a couple of fishermen and 3 local restaurants. And very few tourists!
- the possibility offered by the hotel to be transferred to local restaurants in the evening
No disappointment, everything was great.

The hotel is clean but the decor is very dated and the view spoiled by the pile up of rubble and rubbish underneath. If you are a fan of the 80's, paper thin doors and walls, magnolia paint, then this is for you.
