We went to this hotel not knowing much about it (was recommeneded by a friend of a friend) but were amazed from the outset! Service was second to none! We arrived at the hotel late and went straight to our room to find that they had laid out a generous cold dinner and champagne on ice for us! Breakfast was buffet style and you could have as much as you liked. The cappuccinos were the best we've ever tasted anywhere. Dinner was spectacular! There is a michelin starred restaurant just down the road, but there's no need to visit it. The food was amazing and we had the same waiter all week who, although he didn't speak any English, got to know our particular tastes and suggested the perfect food for us every day!
Hotel is quirky in its slightly damaged antique look, but very beautiful and well thought out and carefully executed. Facilities are great. A lift down to the beautiful beach where you can lounge out on a sunbed on either a concrete ledge by the lapping water (for those that don't like sand) or on the sandy beach. Staff on the beach are very helpful and will bring over sandwiches or beer or coffee on request.
Views from the hotel are breathtaking. Views of the hotel from the sea are equally amazing. The local area is beautiful. The free shuttle in to Amalfi was great and very useful. The hotel reception sells bus tickets so you can get a bus from directly outside the hotel, although we found it easier to get a seat on a bus if you get it from Amalfi. If going more than a few miles by bus I would recommend getting a boat along the coast from Amalfi or else risk being sick as the busses are more like rollercoasters. We took a day trip to Pompei which I would highly recommend as it is something you won't get to see evert day. Look out for special days where you can get in to the site for free as that's what we did.
Rooms aren't the plush 5 start you would expect in some countries or in a big city, but we found the rooms to be really nice. The bathroom was beautiful and very clean.
All in all a perfect hotel for your honeymoon. A great place to get a mix of relaxing on the private beach, visiting places like Capri or Pompei or mooching around small picturesque towns with great little shops.
