“One of my favourite restaurants on the Amalfi coast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

If you like seafood, this is the place for you. The restaurant is run by two brothers who are both fishermen. The quality is great, I have never had a dissapointing meal here, and have been coming here for years. They do local dishes that can be hard to find in the town centers, the price is great, and it is fun to catch their boat from Amalfi to this enchanting little beach. The style of the restaurant is rustic and traditional, and they dont speak much english, but the atmosphere is really nice. They get very busy on the weekends, and in August so if you want a quiet dinner it is best to book mid-week if you can, or arrive a little earlier in the evening.

“a real fisherman cove”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2011

This is a real undiscover gem. I dined at the Ippocampo at the were no turists at all. You can organize a complimentary boat ride from Amalfi (less then 10 min) becouse this small beach is quite down the steep cliff. They will take you back as well when you wish.
This is a simple place, just on the beach where you go for the food. The owner is the fisherman and also the host at the evening. Very informal, friendly even if not too talkative. We did not get any fancy Menu card, but he just asked us how hungry we were. Fish is super fresh. You will not find fancy fishes like Orata, Branzino or Spigola but smaller, less know delicacies. Pasta is great (I am from Italy afterall...).Portion are very generous. House wine is a caraffe with peach inside, fresh and easy to drink. They do not provide eleborate dessert either but lots of fresh fruits. The final touch is the bill...just 30 euro! Already the boat ride is almost worth the price!
Definitly a trattoria not to miss for a memorable evening.
