Service is good, the view is nice, but about 80% of rooms have the noise from the harbour, there is free parking and internet. It looks as if this hotel has had its glory days, now some things do not work: there is no swimming pool, no lift to the beach only a minibus shuttle. So if you get a good price and a room not overlooking the harbour the hotel is worth staying at.

Room Tip: rooms at the northern part do not have noise

I had already been in that hotel so I was lucky enough to ask for a room facing away from the industrial pier. If you are given a room facing Salerno's industrial harbor the sight will be anything but pleasant with plenty of noise due to huge trucks bustling 24 hours a day. The rooms were clean but they need refurbishment. The in-room safe did not work so i had to carry my valuables with me all the time. Breakfast was decent , dinner was definitely poor and expensive as the fish was anything but fresh. I would advice having your meals in some nearby restaurant. It will be cheaper and possibly better quality. Staff at reception were helpful and parking was free. Access to the beach via Hotel elevator was closed and therefore I could reach the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing away from the industrial pier

We just got back from our Collette tour of Rome and Amalfi.
If you are into tours, this would be the one to do. It was our first time to Italy, and the tour was very informative, I don't know how we have have seen all that we did, without the tour. Tracy was incredible, and Pepe our driver was death defying.
The Lloyds Hotel in Amalfi was very nice. I would say 4 star, but 3. One bit of advice is to ask for rooms over looking the beach (higher #'s) 338, otherwise you will be overlooking a shipping port and parking lots. Service at the Hotel, during our meals was lacking. No interest in restocking, cold coffee, and the dinners there were just OK, other places to go.
The rooms were seaside style, tile floor, balcony, not bad over all, but no luxury.
The local stores are charming, nice Salumari's, and china shops. Beautiful Church at the end of the road.
The Highlight was the Prince and the Owl Restaurant in town (everything is just a 5 min walk). Anthony the owner was wonderful. He took or order, any special requests, no problem. The place is a little more upscale (NY) looking than one would expect in a little town in Italy. The menu and quality of the food was great. It was a true culinary Highlight.

We traveled with a group of 45 and were all on the 3rd floor...loved all the ceramic tile as this town is where it's made! We had a large bathroom with lovely towels and a heated towel bar! We loved the little terrace which looked out on to the shipping port of Salerno and found it most interesting.
we had breakfast there each morning for 5 days and food was lovely and plentiful, especially the pastries!
We also had a lovely dinner there one night with the group ..food was excellent.
We do wish they could fix their destroyed swimming pool though the terraces were many and very attractive.

Went with Collette Tours, we knew pool was closed, but hotel advertised a shuttle would take us to a nearby beach. When we enquired about shuttle, hotel said it stopped the end of Sept. And for us to take a public bus to beach. When we checked into our room, my bed was one mattress, and concave!! The bathroom had a small bench to sit on, and it had hair on it. The room had a nice patio, but patio floor was very dirty, and lots of ants. Our hotel had lots of tours staying there, so was crowded. The b reakfast buffet was minimal, and coffee in urns was terrible. the location was good, it was a 5 min. walk to city of vietri sul mare. restaurants were good, and ceramic shopping was very good.

We took a tour with Colette and it was wonderful, don't hesitate to do so if you are wondering. I was worried as I had a hard time finding reviews on tours. I got brochures from so many tour companies I was totally confused. I finally decided on Colette.

We were pick up by a limo at our house included in the price. We were met as soon as we got to baggage claim and taken to our hotel. At our hotel , our guide for the week ,Paul was waitng on the sidewalk for us. And let me say, he was wonderful.

For the next 3 days we toured hights of Rome with out a care, everything was taken care of. Dinners were great with wine includedn and the other people on the tour were fun to be with.

Next we were off to Hotel Lloyd's Baia. We had a balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the beach. We did have to take a shuttle to the hotel beach but it was fine. The hotel beach was beautiful.

For the next 5 days we were taken on day trips all over the amalfi coast. All were fun and again, nothing to think about as all the details were taken care of. We can walk to town from Lloys and it's a cute , safe town with great places to eat. We had pizza at 3 places and it was all fantastic. The last nigh we had a good bye dinner in Rome, I was sad it was over.

We are already talking about our next Colette tour. May try the 3 days in London, 3 days in Paris next.
