We booked this hotel through secret escapes and were really looking forward to spending our honeymoon at the hotel. We had seen a couple of 'average reviews' that had been left on this site but when we arrived at the hotel we were not disappointed! (personally I think the people who left those reviews are 'very picky' travellers who just spend their time picking out all the bad bits and moaning)

We felt like we were in a private, exclusive hotel - only 22 rooms, but they were not all full at the same time and it felt like there were only half a dozen couples staying in the hotel which was really nice.

Its only 10 minutes from the train station as we travelled by train, the hotel booked us a taxi and when you arrive the hotel looks exclusive. The reception is relaxing colours, marble floors, spacious and inviting.

We found all the staff very helpful, they helped us book a car, gave us directions and generally were very helpful and friendly at all times.

Hotel had a free shuttle to the beach, sister hotel (beautiful spa) and the town several times a day but they will also pick you up or drop you off outside the timetable if you ask.

We stayed in a sea view delux room and it was lovely, we had a balcony and yes there are some conifer trees the other side of the road in front of the hotel blocking some of the views but you can still see the sea and to be honest we didn't spend hardly anytime sitting at our balcony, as we were exploring the amalfi coast by boat which give you all the views you could ask for.

The pool and sunbed area is GORGEOUS - Breath taking views of the coast and mountains which is where we spent our time when at the hotel. Lovely pool surrounded by pretty flowers one side, was always clean and tidy.

Food - breakfast was the same food each day however they had a good selection and something for everyone, such as meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, cereal, scrambled egg, bacon and croissants. Nice small eating area inside hotel with a few tables or you could sit outside in the sun - we never felt crowded by other people dining. We ate dinner and lunch a few times in the hotel and the food was lovely.

Our room was cleaned everyday including hovering, mopping the floors, they even tidied our shoes and things so the room looked tidy when we come back from breakfast. Clean towels everyday and they replaced any complimentary shampoo, body soap etc. that you used everyday.

We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going again. If you are looking for an exclusive hotel that is not full with loads of guests and has a beautiful scenery with easy access all the local towns and amalfi coast then this is the hotel for you!

Room Tip: All the rooms were facing the coast other than two either side of the hotel, there were two levels a...

My wife and i have just returned from a long weekend stay at this hotel. Let me break it down into my thoughts.

==Arrival==
A pleasant greeting with a porter taking our cases to our room, on arrival the room smelt damp.

==Room==
Very clean and tidy on arrival, modern italian contemporary decor, TV with satellite which must be pointing to some middle eastern satellite as nearly every channel was arabic with some italian channels thrown in. TV was hard to operate and i operate a considerable setup in my own living room!
Wet room style bathroom with excellent shower although drains were not able to cope causing frequent floods into bathroom area.
Room continued to smell damp, i noticed the walls were so damp the wallpaper had been peeling off, the skirting had also curled away from the walls, and a large damp patch in the ceiling. I reported this as the power socket nearby wasn't working. Nothing was done to rectify this. I cannot believe for one minute the management were not aware of the state of the room.
We had selected a room with sea view. Now, the hotel itself whilst facing the sea, sits behind some considerable Conifer style tall trees. If they were to be chopped there would be a stunning sea view. But as it stands we had a sea view to the left but not in front. The best sea view is on the upper floor where the pool is.

==Pool==
The Pool is without doubt one of the most beautiful pools ive ever bathed in, Two walls of Jasmine surround this green mosaic pool, which is just about big enough to swim in and not feel too small. It does have a jacuzzi style few jets in one corner, but these are not clearly labelled or indicated. I activated it more out of curiosity of 'whats this button do'. Whilst it's ok it's nothing like a Jacuzzi pool.
The sunbeds are comfortable with towels supplied, the decking and surround area is clean. The surrounding side walls of the hotel facing the pool are in desperate need of painting.
Sitting in the bathing area is still very relaxing with Bose garden speakers playing a selection of low volume relaxing sets from coldplay to electronic ambient styles. Upstairs the roof gardens are closed and lacking any maintenance.

==Food==
We opted for Burger n Fries a few times which didn't dissapoint, portions were generous and food tasted very good. The salads were the same, generous and tasted very good. They do however come at a price, our bill for 4 days was 194 euros! We had BnB included in our tariff and only had dinner once in the Hotel. The day waiter was very unwelcoming, a young lad, who clearly didn't want to be there. We asked for just bread or just icecream but insisted we stuck to the menu, which in turn meant considerably more expensive options we didn't want or like. For instance we were charged 8euros for a bowl of icrecream. Which was more frustrating as they refused to remove these items, or discount even half of the price from the bill, instead offering an alternative. Which after the occasion wasn't really what we wanted, but accepted instead of having to end our holiday arguing.

==Service==
A mixed bag. Nearly all the staff were very friendly and helpful and able to speak English, apart from one younger member of staff mentioned above who consisntently was unhelpful and made it clear he wasn't happy to be there to serve us tourists. The other lad who served or assisted with breakfast and evening meals was exceptional, friendly and helpful.

==Overal impressions==

=The good=
Contemporary style
Large Kingsize bed very comfortable bedding.
Good quality food and portions but limited menu and inflexible on requests.
Cleanliness and hygiene.
Good location 2minutes from A3 Autoroute which enable you to cut up and back to Amalfi/Ravello etc without having to use the coastal road of death!

=The bad=
Poor maintenance of hotel
Damp in room
Inflexible choice on requests for food
Limited menu
Some items overpriced
Refusal to offer refund for poor quality desert.
Location Vietri Sul Mare is a place to avoid, it's a local town and treat as such, unless you want to experience local life. Parking and traffic are challenging!

Regretably i am reluctant to recommend this place due to the lack of maintenance and the fact they were not willing to be flexible and fair on some of the charges we had on our bill. To be told 'i cannot alter your bill im just an operator' in my opinion is a coward response to dealing with a matter.
I cannot deny the pool is the most beautfiul feature, and given some TLC and maintenance this hotel could be something very special, if they just manage to give it some maintenance, paint the place, restore the roof gardens, fix the wobbly stainless posts in the garden, ensure rooms are not full of damp and peeling walls, and cloned our friendly hotel waiter! And chopped the conifers opposite to offer actual sea views.
Shame as whoever designed this place had great vision and style, it just needs to be completed and maintained as such. It would then be without doubt an exceptional hotel to stay at.

Tip. Ask for room 107/108 as these have better sea views. Also ensure you have a small hire car if you wish to drive the coastal roads.
Also ensure you have change 2 euros for toll booths along A3.
Dont think about visiting the Vietri sul Mare beach on a Sunday it's swamped with locals and the road down becomes very busy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room perhaps 107/108 as these overlook the sea properly.

Have been hesitant to write a review of this property because I have mixed feelings. We stayed here two years ago and were so charmed by the staff and the comfort of the rooms that we returned for a second visit. While the staff (particularly Laura and Alberto) indeed does an incredibly welcoming and gracious job, and the rooms are still very comfortable, there are problems due to lack of on site management. Sadly the staff people are given little support, so the customers put up with mediocrity. Unfortunately things are not looking "crisp and fresh" anymore. No one is paying attention to small details in maintenance. Typical Italian "shrug of the shoulders" attitude. (Same management as the nearby Hotel Raito which is a nice but dated property.)
Breakfast is prepared ahead, probably the day before; when we arrived after 9am there was little left to eat, even after we complained to management the night before. Apparently the waiter (handsome and gracious) was on his own and was not able to prepare more food. Breads were inedibly dry. No butter, cheese or meats left. No fresh fruit, just canned peaches and prunes. Cooked eggs and bacon sat untouched and were not replenished (Glad we did not order room service when we saw the waiter make a breakfast tray with old eggs from the buffet. Outrageous for the guests who ordered them and paid extra.) By the way, we were never offered a cooked breakfast, as mentioned by a previous reviewer. This was the only pitiful breakfast we had during 2 weeks in Italy, including much less expensive places.

Needless to say we did not take dinner during our stay, although we had a lovely meal on our previous stay. The chef is quite talented and a darling guy, but it seems he is burned out and not being encouraged. Rarely saw any guests dining at night. Fortunately there are several excellent restaurants in the nearby town, and you can catch a ride with the hotel's shuttle.

A previous post mentioned that the offerings in the minibar were complimentary. We asked about this since there is no price list in the room. No surprise there is a charge for all the items. Glad we asked….

If you want the glitzy "buzz" of the Amalfi coast, Vietri sul Mare and Salerno are certainly NOT for you. Nearby local Italian day trippers do come on Sundays for the day with their families, swamping the roads and restaurants, but it is nothing like the throngs of tourists on the west side of the coast in Positano and Amalfi.

We stayed 4 nights and sadly doubt that we will return. Too bad that Paradiso is not "forever".

Room Tip: The "basic" rooms at the lowest price are quite small or not well located. Avoid rooms to...

Stayed for one night in September 2013. The hotel is absolutely lovely! Would highly recommend for anyone staying in VSM.

Pros:
- Hotel staff is super friendly, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed
- Hotel room is absolutely divine! Beds are super comfy and they have a bath tub with different colour lighting setting
- Breakfast is included, tasty and offers good selection
- Modern décor all throughout the hotel and a very pretty swimming pool
Cons:
- Hotel does offer shuttle into town/beach area but it does not come very often. We took the suggestion of the front desk staff and we walk the stairs to get down to the beach - would not recommend anyone to do it, especially if you are in flip flops. I would suggest walking into town and then to the beach, even though it is a little longer it is a lot easy to walk and less bugs...

I have considered all the towns on Amalfi coast and have settled on VSM due to its proximity to Salerno ( about $20 Euro cab ride from Salerno train station to the hotel). VSM might not be as pretty when compared to Positano and other towns but if you are looking for somewhere quiet and non-touristy(or less touristy I should say) this is the definitely the place to be!

I have just returned from the most dreadful week long break, spent at the Relais Paradiso Hotel. It is isolated and does not offer decent/regular ferry links to the rest of the Amalfi Coast. The standard of driving is atrocious and so, not the best option. Cabs are rather expensive.

This is most certainly not a 5 star hotel. It is barely a 4 star. The menu is both limited and just about edible.

Do not stay here.

We booked hotel relais paradiso last minute due to having an extra week for holidays. We are so glad we found this hotel and we will be back again next year. This is the 2nd time visiting amalfi coast but 1st time staying here. The hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly. Everyone here speaks English well enough to get the assistance you require and advice on the town. The food is the best thing about the hotel and we dined in the hotel 5 nights out of the 7. We found pricing very reasonable as the food is divine. Breakfast is available til 10:30 and you have a choice of continental or cooked. Compliments to the chef on our dinner which you can get served in your room, the honey beef or fish soooooo good.
Our room was divine, if you stay here you must book a room with the outdoor jacuzzi and if you want to splash out the paradiso suite is superb. Well worth the extra. $$.
Being a small hotel with only 22 rooms you get serviced well and nothing is to much to ask for. If you do require something or you have to do is ask. The pool area is beautiful as once again there are not 500 people staying here. There is a free shuttle however to walk into town centre only takes 5minutes so we opted to walk as the exercise felt great.
The town of vietre sul mare is our favourite amalfi coast town yet. It is unspoiled and has many beautiful people. The community of this town is what also made it so special.
You must visit the local bar called bar miramare, the owner is lovely and the view of the ocean is incredible, you can sit the for hours relaxing.
Local food and wine is delicious, you must meet the local store owners and taste their cheese and meats. They make it themselves.
We were lucky enough to see a band called Under the Bridge and had a dance with them. Watching all the young local children dance was also a highlight.
We leave relais paradiso tomorrow and we are sad to leave. We will be back and can't believe how much more relaxed we feel after spending a week here.

Room Tip: You can't go past paradiso suite!

I have recently got married and decided to go away for a mini break for which this hotel seemed perfect.

The hotel is situated on the hills with great views of the sea.

On check in we were greeted by Alberto who simply gave us our room key with no information about the hotel. The hotel seemed fairly quiet so we asked for an upgrade to the jacuzzi room as we were on honeymoon but he said we would need to pay for this. We were not told about the shuttle service, use of the other hotel facilities, that breakfast could be delivered in the room etc. He also did not mention the mini bar was complimentary which we only found out on the last day. The following day we met Simona who was great she gave us some excellent restaurant suggestions, try La Sosta in Vietri for delicious pizza about £5 a portion! She was also more than happy to sort out an upgrade for us and it is definitely worth getting a jacuzzi room. The indoor jacuzzi is also very good!

On the downsides the hotel is quite far up so it is worth using the hotel shuttle or a taxi. Also eating at the hotel is very expensive so definitely worth venturing into Vietri or down to the marina.

Great for a short relaxing break and if you need anything speak to Simona!
