My wife and I stayed at Casa Cook, Rhodes for 7 nights half board. We hadn’t had a proper holiday in over a year and a half and were in real need for a good break so hopes were high!

We arrived in the late evening (as flights to Greece from the UK tend to be only available at the bookends of each day) and grinned as we left a coach full of envious tourists looking on at our classy hotel with its impressive illuminated mountain backdrop.

We were warmly greeted by Nikos, the night porter, and given a welcome drink made with rose water which was most refreshing. We were checked in with lots of friendly and welcoming banter and were also given some cold-cut sandwiches that the kitchen had made us because we’d missed our first night’s dinner (we were half board) - this was a wonderful touch as we were tired and hungry. Another member of staff (also named Nikos) whisked us off to our room on a shuttle as we caught our first glimpse of this stunning resort. He welcomed us to our room. showed us the basics and took care of our luggage - we didn’t have to lift a finger. We were tired and weary, yet the whole interaction was relaxed, friendly and up-lifting. A great first impression (and they count!) but little did we know that this was a first glimpse into how the rest of our amazing holiday would unfold.

We stayed in Room 504 which was one of the slightly larger rooms in the 5xx block which is set slightly further away from the main pool, bar and restaurant. Our room had an outside area with two sun beds and a hammock and, of course, that magnificent pool! The room was stunning and the morning sunshine showed off its beautiful modern, bohemian interior. Comfy beds, modern TV, a wonderful monsoon shower, fully stocked minibar, plenty of power sockets (many hotels seem to hide these!) and lots of fluffy towels and toiletries. The linen was clean and fresh and the room was spotless which really is a credit to the fantastic cleaning staff and vital for a hotel. FYI: The balcony for the 5xx rooms gets sunshine in the afternoon/evening but not so much in the morning if that is important to you.

Breakfast was sensational and you’d struggle to want for anything else. Fresh juices and smoothies, a great selection of buffet style hot and continental breakfast ingredients, fresh fruit, nuts, greek yoghurt, amazing bread, pastries and much more. Importantly, the coffee was really good too.

We were extremely well looked after by the friendly and attentive staff who were just such genuine, wonderful and kind people. Some of the team we would see more frequently than others and would start to learn their names; Maria, Sotirios, Thomas and Georgia amongst many others. It’s clear the whole team enjoy their jobs (which is vital for hospitality) and they work really hard. We loved their company, conversations, recommendations and helping us learn a bit more of the local language and culture.

During the days we relaxed on our private balcony, swam outside our room, people watched at the main pool, walked into town (just over a mile), explored the beach, had a dip in the sea and picked up lunch each day from the local super market (near the Atlantica Aegean Park) where they do some really great rolls in the fridge at the back. We even treated ourselves to a massage with Katy which was so wonderfully relaxing we couldn’t help but have a siesta afterwards!

We had a letter under our door one morning acknowledging we missed our evening meal on the first night and inviting us to contact the restaurant staff to see if they could offer us a “replacement meal” one of the lunch times. It turns out we didn’t actually take them up on the offer but this level of attention to detail and customer service was hugely appreciated and goes to show how seriously they take your comfort and enjoyment at the resort.

In the late afternoon / early evening, a relax and some people watching by the main pool were in order (like we hadn’t done enough!). There were plenty of loungers and it never felt crowded or overly busy. We read magazines, listened to audio books, did some work and enjoyed the sunshine. We got to know Dimitris and Giannis amongst some of the other staff who brought us fantastic drinks, food and were great to chat and joke with. They play some chilled lounge music poolside which gives an amazing vibe as people start to gather for drinks/dinner and the sunset fills the sky with yellows, pinks and reds.

We were really spoilt with the evening meals. The half board “degustation menus” were a great way to explore the flavours of Greece and for the chefs to showcase their talents. My wife and I are big foodies and the dinners were a real treat as we enjoyed some really tasty soups, stunning sharing dishes, a choice of 2 high quality main courses and some superb desserts all made from local and seasonal ingredients. The fish we had was very fresh and one night I had the best pork I have ever tasted - with compliments going back to the kitchen!.

We’d often have a chat with Vasso (front of house) or Panos (Operations manager) who would take the time to meet/greet people, have a conversation and ensuring the guests were having a first class experience - which we were!

Sadly it was time to leave. Checkout was at 12pm but our coach wasn’t going to pick us up until 6pm. We left our bags with reception and Katholiki was even kind enough to offer us towels and to use the shower facilities if we wished to freshen up just before we travelled. Again, guest comfort and attention to detail shine through at every step.

We boarded the coach with one last “Kalispera” (Good evening!) to another lovely member of staff (who we chatted with but didn’t catch her name) and we set off for our trip home, relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed.

There were high expectations for this hotel based on previous trip advisor reviews (combined with the fact that we desperately needed a break) but I have to say Casa Cook absolutely delivered and I felt compelled to write this mega review.

Casa Cook, Rhodes really is the real deal and sets the bar for how hospitality should be differentiated at a time when choice is abundant. The staff absolutely make the culture of the hotel which, when combined with every other element of the buildings, architecture, surroundings, cleanliness, vibe, food and weather, make you feel like you are actually staying at a large luxurious house with friends rather than a hotel.

Our trip was absolute bliss and we’d certainly come back in the future (when typically we explore new places each time). I can’t recommend Casa Cook, Rhodes any more than that.
