“Superb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2010

Charming rooms with a fantastic view.
It's nice not to pay for Air Conditioning.
Sun lounger management was fantastic.
Friendly bar staff who couldn't do more for you whist coping with a breakdown.
Delicious Greek food served with cold chips.
Swimming pool like having a bath with fat people's sun cream.
Dust and hate.
Don't save up for this.
Reception staff = Fawltey Towers on minimal wage.
Cockroach on shoe, lavae with wings nesting in door.
Overall very good, enjoy your holiday!

Well, like most people who stayed here, we booked last minute, then read the reviews.
So when we turned up at the Loutanis i was feeling a little concerned as to what we may find, but still trying to keep an open mind.
The room was clean but cramped with 4 beds in it, also my air-con did not work!
I found the hotel owner (fat controller) very rude while trying to resolve the matter which took up the whole of our first morning there, eventually an engineer was sent out and it was repaired. 2 days later it broke and we had to move rooms!!
Then the sunbed situation, no sunbeds, we were advised when any became free to leave our towels on overnight, which i didn't like doing but you had to if you wanted loungers! Also the pool was filthy and i never saw it get cleaned once!
I could go on, i was pleasant with the staff and found the lads at the bar in the daytime pleasant enough but the lady on an evening was downright rude, yes she worked lots of hours on her own, and i didn't like how the owner spoke to her but she couldn't even give you a smile, so i gave up trying. We ended up going out most evenings due to lack of entertainment, massive queues for the bar and unfriendly bar staff.
The food in the hotel wasn't brilliant but you survived and no one i know of became ill.
All in all i did have a good holiday, because of the weather, and the people we became friends with, so if you are going to be staying here, you can have a good holiday but it's down to you!!!!!

We stayed at the Loutanis from the 18th August for a week and it is not that bad, certainly does not deserve some of the bad reviews that it has got previously.
Overall the food was good. The breakfast was very basic but ok, pizza was available from 11 and was very popular. There was not that much choice for lunch and dinner but what they did have was lovely. They did re-use what was left over from lunch and mix it with rice / potatoes to make a new dish but you didn't have to eat that there was always alternatives that were freshly cooked.
Drinks were served around the pool in 'proper' glasses and not plastic cups as normal practice - there were a couple of occasions where glasses were dropped and smashed and not cleared up very well - obviously this was very dangerous and a major issue if you have children.
The pools were nice and they were cleaned every day - very early morning all sorts of chemicals were added to the water by the handy man; not many people up early so not many saw the cleaning process!! However the downside was that the main pool was just too deep for children, with the deep end being about 10ft - you could not see the bottom of the pool so presented a major hazard for children, even those who are strong swimmers.
All rooms are advertised as being fully 'air conditioned' which they are but you have to pay 4 euros per day to activate it - sneaky!! We had a family room with a double bed and bunk beds for the kids - room was very basic but a nice size and clean. Fridges were a bit hit and miss, some rooms had them others didn't - if travelling with babies make sure you enquire when you check in.
There was a major issue with sunbeds, no way near enough and you did have to leave your towels on them for the duration of the hoilday - felt really bad about doing this as we literally 'hogged' one side of the pool but if we didn't someone else would have.
Very disappointed that there was no entertainment, absolutely nothing throughout the day - not even water polo! There are no entertainers at this hotel so kids have to amuse themselves throughout the day and evening. We had one Greek night and a Karaoke Party but it didn't start until 11pm so not good if you have small children.
We normally book with First Choice / Thompson - however this was late deal and we thought we would see if it is 'really' very different and it proved to be so!! I would say that if you have been all inclusive with a leading travel group you will be very disappointed with the hotel facilities.
The area is lovely with a lively town centre which has many bars and restaurants with buses to many of the local towns. The beach was not far and the hotel do lay on a mini bus but it is not really necessary and the walk is short and it is nice to see the area. The weather was fantastic, with temperatures getting up to around 40 degrees.
Overall the holiday was good, to have made it great the hotel needs to invest in more sunbeds and a couple of entertainers to keep the kids and husbands happy!!

I stayed at the hotel with my mum and dad and my little brother! When we arrived at the Loutanis hotel we were prepared for the worst, after reading some of the reviews but we surprised by the cleanliness as the maids cleaned our rooms every day throughout our stay!!! The food wasn't great but it was good they had a nice selection of food and I very much enjoyed the food, there could be more of a variety but what do you really expect when they have over 200 hundred people to feed??. I will warn you now about the main pool in the deep end it is ridiculously deep you cannot see the floor as it is soo deep!!! The shallow end is averagely shallow!!! The children's pool is not really suitable as it is quite deep and I'm 11 and i could not stand up and i am quite tall for my age!! The pool bar opens at 10 am which is a roughly good time as that is when people start to finish breakfast. The two men that serve you drinks are kind and friendly!!! They have pizza at 11 and at 2.30 til 5.30 you can have a range of ice cream flavours!!! The only thing is that, they serve you glasses and throughout my stay there was several occasions when there were smashed glasses in the pool!!! The number of sunbeds was the biggest problem to be able to have a sunbed you need to keep your towels on your sunbeds 24/7!!! I agree very much that the lady that serves you at night is very grumpy and a smile wouldn't go a miss but with the fat hotel owner sitting there smoking and giving orders out she is probably very stressed out!!! Overall I had a great time at the end of the day its up to you how you make your holiday you could moan or at least give a go of enjoying yourself.

If you like brushing your teeth with warm water
If you don't mind not having a sunbed (not enough for everyone)
If you enjoy swimming in a very dirty pool (with god knows what at the bottom as you can't see it)
If you like to eat tasteless cold slop ( the best slop was cold brussels with ham ad cheese)
If you don't mind eating yesterday's leftovers
If you don't mind skipping breakfast, lunch and dinner
If you want to wait an average of 15 minutes to get served at the bar
If you only want 2 drinks at a time
If you like cold pizza at 11.00am (only snack of the day)
If you like cold coffee
If your kids can wait until 2.30pm for an ice cream and don't want anymore past 5pm
If you don't want snacks served all day
If you want to be served by rude unpleasent bar and reception staff
If you don't mind not having a fridge in your room (can for 3 euros a day in some rooms)
If you don't mind paying 4 euros a day for air con
If you don't mind having a shower that is just a dribble
If you want to be woken a 5.30am by owner shouting at staff
If you don't mind having to leave the hotel to go eat and have a decent drink
If you don't mind basic entertainment being cancelled or not starting until 11pm
if you don't mind paying for drinks past 11pm
if you don't mind getting a bus to a decent beach
I could go on and on

Then this is the holiday for you.

I have had my been to Greece many times before and I have never come across such an horrific place with such rude and unpleasant staff. Evey english family at the hotel had booked a late deal, we were informed by Paul's bar that the place is normally empty, I wonder why!!

Our first impression when we arrived was disapointing to say the least. but after a morning working out how things operated we realised we would have to just get on with life,
Our first task was to secure a sun-bed ( NOT EASY ) There is a stratagy in place at this Hotel you leave you towel on the bed for the duration of your stay !!!!! this does cause some friction poolside.
As for all the rants regarding the food on offer, I could not disagree with them more. You are in Greece for goodness sake. The food is made using Greek Recipes Helloooooooooooo !! If you want Fish and Chips go to Blackpool ? We found the Restaurant staff very friendly and cooperative, if we requested lemon slices for our fish dishes they duly obliged.
I agree the Woman working the Bar during the evening was a miserable cow, she operates on her own plus has to collect glasses whilst her boss sits on his Fat backside chain smoking and giving her a hard time, then she is back in the morning for the Breakfast shift ( I think I would be miserable with that schedule )
We met some great people from all over the place who made our holiday great fun and very enjoyable, who like us made the most of the situation we found ourselves in
Now lets get real !!!!! Three meals a day, Drinks from 10am until 11pm, Snacks ( not that good ) Ice Cream, a room ( ours was clean spacious and very clean with a great view ) Swimming Pool and temeratures around 45c all for 20 quid per person per day.
Tell me where I can get that anywhere else in Europe ?
Would I reccomend this Hotel ? probably not but like most people there we booked three days before,so it was a calculated gamble >

We have just returned from a week in hotel loutanis. It is not as bad a previously stated. We booked this via teletext 4days before we were due to leave. Having read the reviews we were expecting a hell hole and did not hold out much hope. U must remember you get what you pay for as a last minute cheap deal it is as you would expect. 3* greece is not 3* england.....

Our room was very clean and the cleaners came every day and changed beds and replace towels and mopped floors....no complains at all re this. Make sure you get air con, its 28 pounds for the week and well worth it. we would have died other wise and beware of shower...our leaked a little....

The food was ok....there was lots of salad, fruit. The hot buffet was nice everynight had something different.....the lamb is amazing....they had chips, spagetti, potatoes etc. there was a good choice and it was nice. The only issue i could see with the food was if you had children it may be an issue ...no nuggets, sausage etc. Beware they also put cloves in bolognese sauce...strange. We ate out at a restaurant 'Nikos' it was beautiful a must.......it was a lil slow but this was as it was jammed....

As i am pregnant i never had a drink but my partner said it was fine. After 11 you have to pay...i would recomend heading to the two bars at the end of the road or going into kolymbia....its 5mins and the drinks are v cheap.

The sunloungers is a lil bit of an issue there are about 30 for the whole complex and people leave towels on them from the moment they arrive.....so be prepared to fight and get one...!!

Beware of the pool....i dont think it was cleaned all week and you couldnt see the bottom ever......

The staff are lovely and treated v poorly by most on a whole esp the manager who shouts a lot and is a bit of a leech.....not good.....

Over all this holiday wasnt that bad you make your holiday and the sun etc adds to this, dont be down hearted if you have booked this we were and were happy enough. Remember you get what you pay for......if you have paid full rates with thompson or somebody then yes i would complain if like us you paid less than 2oo pounds.....get over it and make the most of the sun and cheap beer.
