“Spoilt by excessive charges”
Reviewed August 26, 2010

This is a lovely hotel but the charges are just ridiculous. I presume that because of previous complaints that it was cheaper to book all inclusive at the hotel rather than with Thompson in the UK they have increased the price to €29 per person per day!! They charge for the fridge and safe which are in the room anyway. The prices of the low quality local drinks are higher than a 5* London hotel. This is presumably to make you go onto AI but we did not want lunch in the hotel as we were going out most days so it really spoilt the evenings for us as we could not justify paying the prices for drinks.
The wi-fi was very poor with no signal most days and a patchy one some days. They said they were getting this sorted but this never seemed to happen. Most people gave up trying to use this and had to pay to use the hotel computers!
We also were not impressed with the food. There was a huge choice but the quality was not there. They did only a few Greek dishes on a couple of days and they were quite good and some dishes were ok but "Smash" potato is NOT 5*. Maybe we just don't like a buffet!
Otherwise it is immaculately clean and on a great spot but the village, as previous reviews have said is pretty run down.

Return yet again with friends and we were not dissapointed, more improvements and even greater enjoyment.
The management and ALL of the staff are there to help you enjoy your holiday, the standard of the hotel remains 5 star, the food gets better and better.
The entertainment is poor at times in particular the acts flown in from the UK but we are told this will all change for next year.
A huge thank you to the management and the staff who helped us have yet another great holiday, we will be back again next year!!

This was our 6th visit to this hotel and we weren't disappointed. It is still the best hotel we have ever stayed in. One evening there was anew entertainment on the beach. What a party! It was absolutely superb and all the management joined in. Everybody had an enjoyable night. All the staff are very friendly including bar staff -Janis, Antonis,Manolis and of course the Bar Manager George (Or gorgeous ) as we called him. The Food & Beverage Manager Janis mixed well with all the guests and we enjoyed many laughs with him. antonis (Maitre D') deserves a pat on the back for the way he runs the restaurant. He is so friendly and always goes out of his way to please. All the Management took turns cooking a speciality dish and Damien (Guest Relations) cooked battered fish.. We went back for seconds and it was a huge hit. Restaurant staff should be congratulated for their wonderful service especially Anastasia, Veron, Thomas and Tsambika. Christos, the Hotel Manager is extremely proud of his hotel and staff - quite rightly so. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and are cleaned to a very high standard. We are not sure about the changes that are to happen next year but we were reassured that it will be even better as an Adults Only hotel with different types of entertainment. We just love it here. We thank the staff unreservedly for a super 2 week holiday. See you next year.

My partner and I stayed in the Atlantica Imperial for a week from 4th August 2010. This was the first time we had been to Greece and we were not disappointed. We read many reviews here on trip advisor and decided that the overwhelming excellent/good reviews made it a fairly 'safe' option for a chilled out, kid free holiday.
Before I discuss the hotel I just want to say that our experience of using Thomson was excellent and we made use of the day before check in which really took the hassle and stress out of the outgoing flight. The seats on the plane were generally quite tight for leg room and my partner was slightly squished for the 4hours (He's 6ft). However as a neurotic flyer, I found the flight excellent (and that's saying something!).
I know many people have said this on here but it was a FANTASTIC place and completely delivered on every level.
Plus points for us were: The food - it was really excellent and so much choice you could have eaten like a king at every meal. We expecially liked the picnics for those who were going out on trips - great idea! Some people have complained about the food on here and I can only say that they really must be the pickiest people regarding their food because you could mix and match from various food stations and if you didn't like something then you could replace it with something else. What more could you want??? I would advise getting to breakfast before 9.45am though as the choices become more limited as they start packing it up then. We ate in the A la Carte restaurant on one evening but already knew that we wanted to try the stone grill experience which is not free. However it was written by someone on here that they 'push' the paid part of the menu which in our experience was not true. We were just given our options and you can choose to mix and match from the all inclusive section and the paid section - no one pushed us into paying for anything we didn't want.
Staff/service - the people who run this hotel are exceptionally polite and very happy to help. Nothing it too much trouble and they really are an asset to the resort - especially the restaurant and pool bar staff.
Pool area - nice and big with plenty of loungers. Yes, there are some (strange) people who got up at dawn to 'bag' their lounger but in the whole time we were there we never had a problem in getting loungers in the same general area each day.
The Bed - it was huge and we both slept really well. So much so that we have already bought a new bed as ours was so uncomfortable in comparison!! Take a nectar or boots card with you to keep your air con on all day as they only give you one room key. It makes such a difference in keeping your room cool.

I was a bit skeptical of the 'Butlins' styled entertainment in the beginning but in all honesty it does grow on you and I even enjoyed it by the end. The entertainments team do work hard and they did put on a great beach party even if the chinese lanterns didn't go off properly! and the Managers cocktail party was excellent to introduce the staff. The hotel manager is very proud of his hotel and staff - with good reason.

We went on two days out organised through Thomson - The two and a half cities tour and the Sunshine Cruise. Paul the tour guide for the two and half cities tour was really excellent. We throughly enjoyed both days out but would warn you to take plenty of water to drink and wear good shoes when you go to Lindos as it is SO hot and the walk to the Acropolis is quite hard going and sweaty!

A few european children were there but they were generally very well behaved and we only really saw them at the pool. They certainly didn't infrige on our enjoyment.

I speak for us both when I say that we have had an excellent time and any negative reviews on here must be taken in context of they must be exceptionally picky people, not done their homework or have been looking for something different in their holiday. We got exactly what we wanted and far more. Can't wait to go again very soon!

Just got back from Atlantica Imperial following our second visit in as many years. Hotel still is as good as ever and a great spot for a total "chill out". Staff and service remains a strong feature of this hotel and the food is excellent, with plenty of variety every day. Our only gripe this year would be the poor quality of the entertainment on offer, which usually would force us to another area/bar in the hotel. The `flown in` acts were very average and the Thomson `team` equally as dire. Still, this does not detract from the fact that this remains a great hotel for a relaxing break in wonderful surroundings.

Holiday spoilt by rip off prices e.g. €3.90 for small low quality local beer, €25 for room safe and they even charge €10 to hire the room fridge! We were forced off the hotel site into more reasonably priced local bars and restaurants. Lovely loaction and nice pool lawn area, but would not go back to this hotel.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Atlantica Imperial. We stayed half board which is only feasble if, like us, you are not big drinkers. Book on arrival- the upgrade was 27 euros per person per day. At E3.20 for a coke and 4-5 for a beer, plus 15 pp for a buffet lunch it will be worth it if you like drinks on tap and don't plan on leaving the hotel. Average lunch cost when out and about for a simple lunch and drinks was E15- 20 for both of us - half as much as the hotel. We went to the nearby supermarket and bought cheap drinks, food and had picnic lunches. We even smuggled down the odd drink in the evening! Both HB and AI are charged E60 (two weeks) for safe and fridge. I felt that was penny pinching for a 5*! The room was huge, well furnished, with a vast bed and nice bathroom (double superior with sea view). The hotel is immaculately clean and staff are excellent and friendly. Beautiful pool, sun terrace bar, and nice beach, but as mentioned by others- pebbly (most of them are in Rhodes) so you need shoes to walk to the waters edge. Sand is too hot to stand on! Food was wonderful, varied and luscious! Entertainment was average- too much of the 4 main crew, too much of '24 below'- solo female plus guitarist who play twice a night at 8.30 and 11.00. (Guitarist was very good though!) The 4 'entertainers' were a mixed bag, sometimes funny, sometimes not. It is aimed at the 50 plus crowd with their quizzes and laughably named 'disco music'. Apparently this hotel will be a platinum couples only place next year so hopefully we will have less Tina Charles and more Plan B (or whatever your current taste is). I think someof the older guests were slightly patronised by Thomson assuming they wouldn't like anything up-to-date, or even from the last 20 years! On the plus side they had an excellent dance act, a lovely romantic beach party and some fun activities. Watch out for the pool aerobics as they aren't properly trained (I am) and were doing some contra-indicated stuff- but not too bad! We hired a car for the whole two weeks and did 750 km, which on a 60 mile long island will give you an idea that we saw pretty much the whole of Rhodes! Anyway, there were no hotels where at least the position and exterior appearance were better than the Atlantica. It was lovely in fact and if returning to Rhodes would definitely come back.
