I have just come back from a week here, the last week of the season.
This place is excellent
Food excellent
Clean and lots of things to do for the kids.
The water park is also very very good, the rooms are the best I have ever been too.

The only downside I would say is the pool was a little cold but they do have a heated one as well.
The location is also a bit out of the way.
I would love to go here again

This is not a 5* hotel. We had a good time on our holiday but this was due to the company of the people we went with, not due to the hotel. We went in half term, which was the last week of the season for the hotel and it was literally being dismantled around us.

On the plus side, the rooms were spacious and had plenty of storage, and the food was varied and plentiful and generally of good quality. Our children loved the water park, swimming pools and high ropes. The car hire is unbelievably cheap and the guy is very helpful. The bar staff and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.

Negative points:
Room - rough towels, sheets not changed, TV only tuned to Greek channels, have to pay for safe, no mini bar, no tea or coffee, no water.
Pools - unheated, except for a small children's one, therefore unusable on cold days (except for our brave children!); many missing tiles which had turned black where the tiles were missing; areas not cleaned - chocolate ice-cream stains (which gave the appearance of a crime scene)and litter which wasn't cleared once during the week we were there.
Pool bar - unfriendly staff, poor selection of drinks, very poor quality drinks, cocktail menu ripped, soggy and blurred.
Entertainment - Bingo, kids' games, singing reps, no local or professional entertainment except for in the adult only bar. I imagine Butlins in the 70s would have been better. The entertainment area was outside so when it rained it was held in the very cramped 'cinema' (banqueting chairs and a screen) or the Sports Bar. Most nights we went to our rooms early and watched subtitled Discovery Channel.
Nurse - didn't speak good enough English to help us and was dressed like a nurse in a porn film.
Shop - no stock left and what was left was emptied and sent back to suppliers before the end of our holiday.
Public Areas - bars had no atmosphere and there were no comfortable places to sit with friends when we didn't want to go the the outdoor entertainment, just a few sofas in the lobby.
Spa - fully booked, too few staff, poor treatments, pool was full of children even though it was supposed to be 'tranquil' and relaxing.
Hygiene - there are only 2 toilets in the ladies' loo for all the guests to use in the Sports Bar, restaurant, entertainment area, snack bar, Greek 'restaurant' and lobby. Only one of the sinks for washing hands was working. I pointed this out to one of the reps who was uninterested and said ' the sinks are a bit hit and miss'.
Sports Bar - 2 pools tables, a tatty table tennis and two broken air hockey tables.
Location - on a dirty, dusty road. A small beach is about 10 minutes walk away and would be lovely if it weren't for the rusty, dilapidated concrete buildings. Not the hotel's fault, but you shouldn't go here if you want a beach holiday. There are no facilities at the beach.
Reps - spoke rudely and loudly about guests on the return flight.

I note that some of the hotel's responses to previous reviews have been to complain to them personally at the time. This would have been pointless as so many of my complaints seem petty individually, but they add up to a very poor experience.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for the price and it most certainly is not a 5*.

Room Tip: Do NOT accept a swim up room in block 57_ _ The 'pool' is no more than a trough with no acce...

We just got back from an all-inclusive half-term break at this hotel which we booked last minute as a package. We had a family room in the "relax" section" of the hotel and we thought the layout, appointments, and facilities in the room were great. Everything was exceptionally clean and of good quality. Particularly impressive was the ready availability of plentiful hot water to quickly fill the large, comfortable bath or provide for very satisfying showers. We were all-inclusive and the buffet-style restaurant had a huge selection of high quality of food with a great choice of authentic greek dishes, "british" food and kids' favourites. The grown-ups always enjoyed the food and we were always able to find nutritious options that the pickier kids would eat. The hotel has several swimming areas, we particularly enjoyed the splash park which had inner-tube-style floating and many slides, and the heated pool where less confident swimmers could spend hours playing. The staff are generally extremely friendly, with both the Greek staff of the hotel and the Thomsons reps going out of their way to make sure everyone felt welcome and included. The environment felt very safe, and we were able to let the children enjoy some freedom within the confines of the hotel. It clearly isn't of northern European "5-star" standard, but we were very happy with the value for money it provided. We had 2 minor niggles: our package included the right to dine at the a la carte restaurants twice during the week, but there was limited availability, so that there were no slots left when we tried to book: if you have this entitlement, book for the week ahead at your earliest opportunity. The shower next to the sauna in the spa was not working which really spoilt the sauna / steam-room experience. Finally a tip: we used the locally organised buses (details from the hotel reception staff) for day trips to Rhodes Old Town and Lindos. In each case the bus fares were 7 Euros return per adult and kids were free. This was substantially less than the costs of the organised excursions. We really enjoyed our days out and had no difficulty finding the key attractions despite speaking only a handful of words of Greek.

Room Tip: The "Relax" section of the hotel is away from the main activities and we enjoyed being abl...

After spending two weeks - from October 6th until the 21st - at the Holiday Village Rhodes, we came home wishing we could go right back and stay at the Holiday Village forever! It was the best trip our family has ever taken together. Accompanying us were four of our five children - including our 7 year old twins, our 9 year old daughter, and our 16 year old son. They all had an incredible, incredible time! None of us wanted to leave, quite honestly. From the very beginning of our vacation, to the very end, the staff was amazing. They were so kind to us - there is definitely something special about Greek hospitality (my background is in Tourism Development and Hospitality Management, so I was immediately watching everything and scrutinizing every detail! I must say, though, I was blown away by it all!!).
Here is why it was so fabulous and everyone there deserves a medal and a Golden Pineapple Award for their unending hospitality and graciousness:
Our twins, who are very energetic, wore out both the endlessly talented entertainment team AND the incredible, compassionate and professional child care team. Special mention goes out to Micheala (Mikayla?), Ryan, Barlow, Emma Lee, and Kim, the fabulous entertainers who put on energetic shows for both the kids first, and then for the adults each and every night. I don't know where they got all their energy!! As for the child care staff, I have to say thank you so much to Kylie and also to Scott - my daughter had so much fun with all the activities. One of our twins has Aspergers Syndrome, and I was really touched by their kindness and patience with him. They take their job very seriously, and they are well trained and educated. He couldn't always behave appropriately during every kids' club session, but nevertheless, they always welcomed him back with open arms and a warm smile, and they were very understanding and knowledgeable about the challenges that are presented when there is a child with Asperger's Syndrome. Thank you so much - you all made my trip so much more relaxing, and I never worried when I knew that he was safe under your supervision. Same thing with the entertainment team - I know that Eric provided his own sort of "entertainment" some nights, with his "unexpected comments" and his unpredictablity, and it was a huge weight off my shoulders, knowing that you genuinely cared about him and weren't put off by his quirkiness!
As I mentioned, each night featured wonderful shows - my husband thought they were sometimes over the top, but I really enjoyed them - even when Barlow and Michaela pulled me up on stage for the adult game shows! What a laugh!! But one great thing came out of it..I finally got to discover the wonder of "Take That"!!! LOL (Who's that, again? Says the loud Canadian!!) Also, the bar staff near the mainstage were all so great - there were too many of you for me to remember accurately, but I will say special thanks to Betty and Nikos, as well as the day time staff who made my trip even more fabulous when they called me over and thanked ME for always smiling every day. I mean, who WOULDN'T smile at a place like this? It was heaven!!
Next, I have to say that the food was amazing, as was the hospitality at the main restaurant. Every day, Elena made me feel like a million dollars, and she became like the little sister I never had!! I wanted to take her home with us (by the way, Elena, my Cypriot doctor says you have a job any time you want to come to Norway!!). Even John provided a great laugh, with his very dry sense of humour and his gallantry, as he welcomed us into the restaurant each day, and even put up with our tipsy joking and teasing one night in the adult bar! (he was so afraid to look at my "list"....well, John, this is 'the list'!!) Thanks to the wonderful show cooking and restaurant management by Jordans, the fabulous chef who seemed effortlessly in charge of everything. Kiki, Mike, and George were so kind and wonderful - I couldn't believe that Mike remembered our drinks every time!
Next, I have to give kudos to our housekeeper, Popi. She was so kind and very patient, especially given that we had four messy kids spread over two guest rooms! I really enjoyed talking to her and finding out about life on Rhodes. Our rooms were cleaned very well each day, and she was always happy to help. We stayed in room 5503 (along with an upstairs room - 5515), and 5503 always had sunshine for the entire day. In fact, there were many, many days that we just stayed close to our room, laying on our swim up room's poolside, comfy loungers, soaking up the sun! And then we would just swim or float up to the pool side bar, where the Bartenders were, again, WONDERFUL! Olga was so friendly and professional and thanks also to Marios and Marios - both of you were lots of fun and so kind to us.
We would highly recommend this part of the relax side of the resort - any of the 5500 rooms were amazing. Luckily for us, we also made friends for life at the resort, because our next door neighbours ended up being one of the nicest families we have ever met - they were a young couple with a toddler son, and they also really loved their experience at the resort. It was so nice - by the time we left, we all felt like family. Even our son babysat for the other family on two separate nights, so that they could come out with us and visit the Adult Bar and enjoy the entertainment. My goodness, it was fun. We also made great friends with another couple from the UK - we are, by the way, Canadians, who are living in Norway as expats, so it was lovely to meet so many nice families from the UK. They were all so happy and relaxed - we truly felt at home with all the other families! Thank you to everyone else who was visiting at the same time as us - YOU made our trip special, too! Especially the couples and families who were visiting for various weddings. What fun it was, to share in your joy. My husband and I both said that if we could do it again (with each other, obviously!!), we would definitely bring our families and get married again there!
Anyway, back to the review! Recommendations for the future? We did find the wi-fi a little annoying, but that was mainly because our 16 year old still had to do homework during his two week hiatus from school, and he had to go up to the deluxe or activity reception areas, in order to do his homework and check in with his classes (he was able to Facetime attend his classes in Norway, from the Holiday Village - isn't that cool?). We also would have liked to have at least the option to access wi-fi, as necessary, from our rooms. But then again, as John mentioned to me at one point, "Aren't you on vacation? Why would you want to or need to use wi-fi when you should be relaxing?! And he had a point! But it would probably be nice to have the option, especially when you are on a long, extended holiday, and checking into work or home is sometimes important. Also, laundromat facilities need to be expanded. There was one wayyyy over on the Activity side, but it would be great if there was at least one "do it yourself" laundry room at each side, or even one for every two buildings. When you stay somewhere for two weeks, it's often necessary to do several loads of laundry, and the time I spent trudging back and forth to the activity area, laden down with my dirty and/or wet laundry, was time I would have preferred to spend lounging by the pool!! LOL I was also kind of embarassed to be seen with my bags of laundry, so I tended to walk around the long way. So, that being said, I highly recommend expanding the laundry self serve facilities, and maybe even adding a dryer for these rooms. It was a pain hanging out laundry for a family of 6, every 3-4 days. We would also recommend that there be an outdoor bar open a little later, over on the relax side. It was quiet and relaxing, but sometimes, TOO relaxing, and a little isolated for young families who couldn't really get out or go to the mainstage for evening entertainment, when they had really young ones who had to go to bed at a certain hour. With this in mind, it would also be great to have (or advertise, if it is already available), evening child care services (babysitting), so that young couples could get out and enjoy themselves after their kids are asleep. We were lucky, as we had our "built in babysitter" (our 16 year old), but many families were stuck in their rooms, after their kids went to sleep. Some families just kept their kids up, but I can understand if they have a sleep schedule for their little ones.
Oh, and this is random, but the bathrooms in the Waterpark were very gross. But the Waterpark itself was so much fun for the kids! They had a blast, and the lifeguards were very professional and did their jobs well.
And one more thing about entertainment for older teens - it would have been great if there was a "mocktail hour" for older teenager - maybe for 14-18 year olds. Just some sort of an ice breaker would have been nice, because it was difficult for them to meet each other and hang out. But when they did, it worked out nicely and they all got along well - my 16 year old son made some nice friends during our first week and hung out with them a bit, but it would have been great if there was something organized, since, well, you know how teenagers are...
Simply put, our trip was fantastic, and it was, in large part, thanks to the hospitality shown by everyone who worked at Holiday Village Rhodes. Everyone here in Norway was amazing by the tans we got, during our trip, not to mention how RESTED we all seemed, upon our return! I think you will have many more expat visitors arriving from Stavanger, now that we have visited - everyone at our International School wanted lots of details about Holiday Village Rhodes! So note to staff - don't be surprised if next year, you have a bunch of visitors from Norway, who are actually from all over the world!! It was exactly what we all want in a holiday - rest, relaxation and really nice people! Can't wait to go back again...already trying to convince my husband to book it for October break next year, or even sooner if possible!

Room Tip: Swim up rooms on the Relax Side - 5500 and 5600 Block - are highly recommended!

NOTHING FOR OLDER KIDS AND TEENAGERS TO DO !!!!!!!!!!

Im going to be totally honest and In a realist. Ive been all over the world and stayed in 5 star Hotels and this is not a 5 star Hotel or resort. Now I know you cant please everyone and its a big place so they have their work cut out but really - they sell this place as an al inclusive FAMILY resort and its not - my honest advise dont go if your kids are over 10/11 upwards. Ive stayed in the other Holiday Villages and we have never come across anything like this before.

NOTHING FOR TEENAGERS TO DO

They simply dont have this part sussed. My Husband and I have just returned (yesterday) - we have a 14 year old son. Now we know the drill, teenagers - hard to please and its not cool to fuss over them so - all of that so we dont cause a fuss or a scene. However, you have to speak up if things are just not right. My Son does not ask for much the one and only thing he wanted to do the whole of this holiday was play kickabout - footie with his Dad and his mates. BUT NOOOOOOOO WAY were First Choice allowing that. Health & Safety and all that. So we argued, we asked in fact we pleaded he just wants to play football we said but unless we were prepared to pay them 40 euros they were not allowing him or any of the other lads to play football on their Pitch (Astroturf). The reason - health and safety!!!!!! However, all the kids were told to go and play next door in the basketball court, which was totally water logged and sodden with stagnent vile smelling water, in fact the basketball court was a death trap yet they were prepared to let all the kids play footie on this.!!!!! This was not about health and safety this was about MONEY, - they wanted our money - they wanted us to pay them to teach our son how to play !!!!!! So instead my son and all his friends (now remember its half term!!!!!) - so there were a few kids all ended up having to go over to another Hotel to play football. SHAME ON YOU FIRST CHOICE. Also, on top of this, by this time we had managed to get the support of the other parents whose children were bored, we tried to tell FIRST CHOICE this but they were having none of it. So my advise DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL IF YOU HAVE A CHILD OVER THE AGE OF 10 yrs because quite simply they will be bored, and not just because there is no footie allowed on their Pitch (not all kids play football I know!!), but because they simply dont have anything to do. Half the kids were so upset and dissapointed because unless they were a certain height they could not go on the Superslides, we saw so many of them in tears. Dont get me wrong, in the brochure it all looks fab, in fact when you first arrive you really are impressed by the modern exterior and how clean and fresh the complex is but believe me its not like that when your there.

Im being kind when I tell you its BORING !!!!!! for the older children (not just my son).

FIRST CHOICE REPS

SCOTT, MICHAELA both totally wonderful and in fact I dont know what will happen to that place as they are leaving this week!!! I know that they do work hard, in fact the staff at the Hotel itself were fab with the kids, giving High Fives and taking you to the table at meal times, really kind and smiling at you the whole time, but quite simply if your like us - unless your child is entertained, then your worrying the whole time they are bored and our Son was quite simply bored.

SWIMMING POOLS ARE JUST FREEZING - my son is a waterbaby, in fact every-year because he is in the pools so much he ends up with an ear infection every holiday but this year - because the pools are so cold, he hardly went in it !!!!!!!! We stayed 11 nights and I swear to you I did not touch that pool once. I even had a Rep complaining to me that because the water is soo cold, no-one would do the Aqua-aerobics!!!!

I tried to use the indoor pool and jacuzzi, never in my life have I been in a jacuzzi where the water was so cold.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

The best night we had was a tribute act to the Drifters - these were brilliant, and then the very last night the First Choice Reps did their routine - that was really good but apart from that the evenin entertainment was just awful.

PLENTY TO DO FOR BABIES AND LITTLE ONES

OK so if you have little ones and babies then yes there is plenty to do, but apart from this Im sorry there is nothing else.

If anyone would like to email me personally I can give you honest feedback but my advice is please dont go to this Hotel if your looking for full on family enterainment because you will be dissapointed.

Ive made an official complaint to First Choice and I will let you know the outcome if interested.

Room Tip: Dont have a swim up room as they get no sun and everyone was telling us they are simply not worth th...

We returned from the holiday village on the 3rd of October & this is the first chance i've had to write this review :-(

Firstly if your after a relaxing holiday your in for a treat if you are in the relaxing section although the deluxe area also looked chilled out. The room we stayed in 5601 was top notch with all ground level rooms having a swim up room, patio area & sunbeds.

The advantage however staying in the relax section is it's the only area with the swim up bar which i found strange when you pay a lot more for the deluxe area compared to where we were

The complex itself was vast & very clean with plenty of space for everyone. Two al a carte restaurants were worth a visit when u want to get away from the hussle bussle of the main restaurant although you are escorted to your table with very attentive staff & always with a smile food was outstanding with lots of choice & not the same you get in some restaurants in other so called five star hotels/complex's.

The numerous bars are always well staffed & service with a smile is always a plus, also there was never a time when there was a queue which is always a bonus.

The complex also if well suited for children from new born too early teens our 3 year old was in her element with all the activities available from swimming lessons, kids club & the water park at her disposal.

Although there isn't much outside the complex i think this area will be on the up & up in years to come.if you do venture out on foot the star bar has all you need for the football with 4 premiership games shown a match days. The sports bar on the complex did show football but only had 1 sky sports channel

I've been to many a complex on numerous occasions ie Mexico, Dominican republic & this complex is on par if not better than them.

I would like to take a moment to talk about the Front of house manager Celina. She was very professional from the moment we meet her & throughout our stay. When we first arrived we were given a room on the first floor which we didn't ask for Celina took this in her stride & put us in the room we really loved from the outset room 5601. We will be emailing Celina separately to thank her for assistance. Thank you Celina.

In summary this hotel is one of the finest i've stayed in & will be looking to book this hotel the same time next year.

Well done thomsons

After reading as always some good, bad and a couple of ugly reviews on trip advisor and having already stayed at another First Choice all inclusive resort the Aliathon Holiday Village in Cyprus, this place had some big shoes to fill, well it filled those shoes and then some!
A warm welcome on arrival with drinks, our luggage taken to our rooms all very well organised, we were then sat down for something to eat then of to our rooms.
The buildings had instant kerb appeal this was then matched by the rooms very nice and clean which then lead through the two sliding doors, one big the other small, out onto the veranda, that was then the real Wow factor as we had booked a swim up room, it did not disappoint.
The next day was our opportunity to compare Rhodes with Cyprus, this would start at breakfast, you are greeted again warmly and shown to your table this would happen every time we visited the restaurant and for us we preferred the more relaxed way of Cyprus this was especially after two visits, one when we arrived in our swim wear in t-shirts at lunch time and were told we have to go and change, on the the second visit when leaving we had a couple of cakes, we were stopped and shown a sign that said that food should not be taken out of the restaurant and made to feel it was some kind of hideous crime even after pointing out that these were for our grand children and we could not get any cake anywhere else! again Cyprus wins hands down here.
