Lovely week stayed here from 11th july. Value for money. All inclusive holiday reasonable food fair choice never went hungry. yes been to better all inclusives but you get what you pay for and this was fab for the money. to be honest i cant justify paying extra for the little things that were missing. for example poor deserts, not as many dishes etc.

room was in main building 403. clean and roomy no complaints did have to aask for maid service though after 5 days has no one had been but it was done upon requests. no complaints ...

Pool was fantastic weather great. pool bar basic but reasonable would benifit from more snack foods there i.e chips .... etc rather than having to go to the resturant as kids wanted to eat by the pool

overall fab holiday would definetly return and would recommend the hotel but only at a good price had i paid more i wouldnt have been so pleased,

Room Tip: go for the main building

We (me and partner, 11 year old and 3 year old daughter) have just returned from here after 2 weeks!
Firstly i will be honest and say i took time and researched hotels to find one that would cater for us - i didnt want an all inclusive holiday and four of us sharing one room anymore! The photos and reviews showed the main building that shows the modernised rooms and looked ideal.
When we arrived we were shown to an apartment in the building across the road which when walking into the corridors was slightly worrying! Once shown to our room which was 918 it was great! Sea view, top floor, 2 large rooms with modernised bathroom and little kitchenette and air con! It was ideal for the four of us!
There is a great pool area with swim up bar and plenty of sun loungers - no racing down putting towels on! It stated there was 3 pools but the third is round the back and not in use nor is the childrens playground which was a shame as the childrens pool by the main pool is tiny little square tucked away.
I CANNOT THANK THE ANIMATION/CHILDRENS CLUB GIRLS (JULIE & DORINE) ENOUGH! THEY DID A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH THE CHILDREN! They always had a smile on their faces and were very welcoming! THANKS!!!
Infact most of the staff were very nice! The evening staff in the ABSOLUT BAR though i appreciate the language barrier as mainly from eastern european countries not greek as we expected seemed rude at times and too busy smoking at the end of the bar and hardly ever smiled! They hardly ever smiled?!! CHEER UP GIRLS!
Our air conditioning stopped working and in 39 degrees of heat you need it and they moved us into the main building room 402 - it was fantastic! we had 2 bathrooms - jacuzzi bath in the en-suite! Big thanks To Nadia and Irina for the help!
It really is a great location and lovely hotel but it is 3 star and well worth the money!
Oh if you are wantng a beach holiday rather than a pool then the resort is a pebbly beach and the sea not suitable for young children!
We hired a car but not from the hotel as it was extortionate you can get for 45 euros less (3 days for micra) anywhere else but the hotel car hire!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR BUDGET ALL INCLUSIVE FAMILY HOLIDAY!

Room Tip: Room 916-919 are top floor with sea view and quiet or main building more modern we had room 402 side sea view but great! 2 bathroom and jacuzzi bath!

We stayed in the residence from the 13th till 28th june. We had to pay 1 days Aircon as the free aircon runs from the 15th june until the end of august as this is the countries hottest months.
We had an amazing time on our holidays, a very very high 3 star.

Def got more than we paid for. Room was across the road from the main reception building with two rooms and good sized balcony whish was great for us, meant we could put our 14 month to bed in the first room and then sit on the balcony with a few drinks.

Selection at meal times was good, very good for the size of hotel. We have had a better selection on previous holidays but they were much larger hotels and to be honest the food at the residence was far nicer than most places we have been before.

The staff, bar, reception and restaurant, were all amazing. The manager was brilliant, he made an effort to speak to us at every meal time.

Ilyassos was a great area to stay with the wee one. Really brilliant playparks in the are and a couple of cafes/restaurants with softplay areas too.
Being on the west of the Island was also good as it is breezier and turns out our daughter much preferred the pebble beach to the sandy one in lindos.

Only 14 euros for a taxi from airport which we would recommend over the normal transfers.

day trip to Lindos is a must, and go to ST pauls bay which is the other side of the acropolis - it is stunning. Rhodes old town is also a great day. Faliraki was ok, mostly really for the youngsters.

Room Tip: from what i could tell mosyt of the rooms were the same on the annex. dont know what they were like in the main building.

We just godt back from The Residence Hotel in Ialyssos. We got a good offer and thought "why not". We traveled with the Danish bureau BravoTours.
The hotel is located in the second row from the beach. be advised that the hotel is actually two buildings, one in the main building with the reception and pool and another across the street where the restaurant is located.
Upon arrival we were given a room that we found to be too noisy, we requested a more quiet room, and were told that we'd be contacted. No one did. We chose the "keep calm and carry on" approach to this fact. Also there was very little information from the reception.
The room itself was ok, we'd chosen af two bedroom apartment, but the airconditioning unit (free of charge) was located in the "living room" and was very hard to control. Temperatures did not match what was displayed at the remote. This meant that the bedroom was either too warm to sleep in or cold enough to catch a cold. Also our room's entry was facing a court yard, with some very big fans that ran 24-7. Ialyssos is located on the approach route for aircrafts, so there's airplane noise every 20 mins or so. The decor is rather worn but if you only need a place to sleep it doesn't matter. Another thing that does matter is the fact that there's not warm wather around 6 pm, when the pool closes, not a good thing when you're travelling with children.
The food, was despite good efforts and a generally happy staff poor. We only ate at the hotel because we were travelling with our 4 year old, and we didn't want to go out looking at restaurants all the time.
The pool is average sized and has a integrated poolbar serving drinks and snacks. The child pool is small and rather poorly kept with leaves and dirt in the water. The hotel has an entertainment team that arranges watergym and water polo. The watergym is quite entertaining both to do and to observe, but the water polo is rather annoying for anyone not participating, because it takes up the entire pool, there's splashing out on the first couple of rows and then there's the risc of being hit by the ball.
Needless to say we choose to spend our days and the beach instead. The beach is pepples and the water gets deep rather quickly. The hotel works with another hotel called Forum Beach, it's a 3 minutes walk to that beach where there are free sunbeds. Go there if you don't like being crammed in like sardines around a average pool.
The hotel also has a car rental bureau in the lobby called Etos. We rented a VW Polo automatic. This was a mistake. First of all, we asked if the car had side airbags in the back, we were told it had - it did not. Second, the automatic gearbox was a best unreliable sometimes it just stopped working and let the car idle at 20 km/h. Third the engine was shot, the car had trouble getting up to highway speeds. Given the choice we'd go down the street and pay a bit more for the new model of the car.
Some of the staff are very friendly and helpful, while others couldn't care less about your wellbeing.
All in all, if you don't mind poor food, unpredictable staff, and airplane noise, and just want a cheap holiday it's a good place to go. We just had our expectations a bit higher than what we got.

Management response:Responded June 30, 2012

Dear Guest, thank you for choosing The Residence for your vacations. We are happy that you had beautiful vacations at the Forum Beach hotel. Regarding The Residence we would like to mention that we do not have the old building and the new building. Both buildings have the same renovation, however the rooms in the main building have a different design from the normal apartment and for that reason have also different price. We believe that your travel agent offer you both options from our different type of rooms. As you may notice we have our clients to have great vacations in our hotels, we pay attentions to their needs. Thank you again for your review although that we believe that a 4 will be more accurate :)
