“Great holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2011

Just returned from the kassandra apartments and had a great time. Me and my partner went last year and returned again this year as we think it's a great place for a holiday. Rooms are basic but kept very clean, the cleaners do an excellent job. Prices bit more exspensive this year but we expected that. One thing I would point out is if you've paid for aircon and you are planning on going out for the day try not to let the reception staff see you as they sometimes turn it off this happened to us and when we turned it back on it was warm air coming out so we had no sleep that night. The next day we went and told reception and he came straight up and had a look but he couldn't fix it and said he couldn't get anyone out to fix it as it was a Sunday, on monday no one turned up so we got moved to an apartment which was so much better. The pools were always kept clean and resturant staff very friendly, we always had our evening meal there as the food is excellent and cheaper than anywhere else we found. If you come out of the reception and turn left it will take you to the beach and if you turn right to the main road and turn right again it takes about 5 mins to get to trianda, when you get to the cross roads turn right again and there's is loads of bars, resturants, shops and cafes and if you keep walking down it'll lead to another part of the beach. There's a side road of the left as you walk down and if you go down there there's even more places to eat and loads of shops. It's a lovely place and everyone really friendly would definately recommend this for a holiday.

My friend and I have just returned from a week's holiday in Rhodes. Having read the previous reviews on Kassandra apartments, we were expecting the worse, however, we have had a fabulous time and for the price we've paid, we can't fault it. Yes, the deco is a bit dated, however it's all very clean. The staff in reception, restaurant, cleaeners etc have all been great, helpful and friendly. We had booked airport transfer, however unless you are in a group or have children I would recommend that you take the bus, there are several buses that stop outside the hotel and it's just 10 min away ( €2.10 one way). Food and drink are just as expensive and as good as anywhere else, so don't bother shopping around, that's Rhodes, expensive !! Kassandra is just a 10 min bus ride from Rhodes City, so very convenient. The beach is not far but don't count on going for early morning walks, it's not that easy with the pebbles. All in all, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kassandra and we'd go back any time.

Paid only £38 through Olympic holidays for a two-bedroom apartment for a week, we were not expecting much, so were very pleasantly surprised with what we found. The reception area is good, although the staff could be a little more friendly. The apartment was very well cleaned each day, but basic. Beds were comfortable, but watch out for mozzies, shower was less than luxurious, with hot water being hit and miss, though the towels were of good quality, replaced daily. Cooking facilities are not worth bothering with, being two electric rings, but a kettle was a bonus, and not always supplied in Greece. Our room looked out onto a neighbouring block of private dwellings, which were only twenty feet away, but the balcony got a lot of sun in the afternoon. The two pool areas were good, very pretty with plenty of sun loungers and no sign of the towel brigade, but it was still early in the season. On-site taverna served good, reasonably priced food, with pleasant staff. If you go to the main road from the entrance and turn left, there is a great bakery about 300 yards away, or if you want something better, visit the "cake box" on the main street in the town between the traffic lights and the sea - fantastic cakes, sandwiches and coffee. A gem. The resort is not much to write home about, but it grows on you. All four of us loved our week at Kassandra, and would have been happy paying a lot more. Great no frills standard for the money.

Room Tip: Pool view room is the best if you can get one.

OK let's get things in perspective. I knew we were back on a Greek island (went to Rhodes about 5 years ago) when I went to the loo at Rhodes airport. No working air dryers nor paper towels; bare wires where an airdryer had been removed and an overflowing toilet paper bucket in the cubicle. Funnily enough the facilities in departure have all been renewed and it's very clean and generally comfortable.

Yes, Kassandra apartments as everyone says are tired but they are kept clean... the two very nice ladies who "did" ours were very hard working and attentive. We had a 2-bed apartment and it's typical of the holiday industry. The second bedroom was originally a lounge and by erecting a wooden partition it became a 2-bed apartment thus earning more money. I didn't like the jagged remains of the original shower sticking out on the side of the bath and the enamel had long ceased to be pure white but the cleaning ladies washed everwhere and changed all the towels (we got 4 - 2 large and 2 hand towels) and bath mat every day.

The whole holiday was cheap and the weather was glorious - hot but not unbearable and it rained one day for precisely one minute (really!) when we drove up to the Seven Streams in the mountainous area. We pre-booked car hire and picked it up at the airport so we were free to do what we wanted/whenever. We've found this is the best way to enjoy holiday islands over the years and once away from the commercialised resorts we found nice places and nice people. You know you're not being ripped off when most of the customers in a restaurant are locals eating from the same menu!

We went self-catering (always do, it gives far greater choice) but were pleasantly surprised by the quality and cost of eating in the taberna although with the pound having fallen like a stone since we were last there, everything was more expensive than we would have liked.

The add-on costs at Kassandra are typical of Greek Islands/Cyprus etc. We decided that we wouldn't pay €42 for a/c and thought we would hire a fan then saw they wanted €15 per week so we bought one in the Auchan supermarket for €18 and disassembled it and brought it home.

Footnote: If anyone looking at a brochure produced by any holiday company believes a 3-star rating they must be very naive!

Overall, we would go again. For what we paid we had a good break.

We stayed for ten days at the end of september arrived early am the front desk staff give you a key point to where you should be going and thats it they dont really speak again sometimes you can force a hello out of them sometimes not. Having said that we had an issue with our room and we asked for another and a different one was offered staight away. Be prepared to pay for everything a/c 42euro per week safe 18 euro per week , the safes are a bit dodgey keys snap, locks seize trapping all your belongings inside as with us the night desk said he would sort it for us . in the morning a new safe was given to us but he had left passports return tickets in an unlocked un supervised 'safe'. The weather was stunning. The pools we found were superb very clean just full of mad germans and scandanavian people but not a problem like some reviews. Best to eat out supermarket food a bit dear. The bus to Rhodes 2euro 10 very crowded but part of the fun just keep pushing down the bus. Some great places 20 mins away head to beach and turn left a whole new resort is round the corner.Be on the lookout for Blue Agean reps they hassle you all the time guess what youve won a prize just go and claim it, never thought we would be hassled by british reps in Rhodes? All in all a great time but only due to weather-pool-beach.

we booked a cheap deal with olympic it was £647 for the 2 of us for 2 weeks like others i read some of the reports and thought we wont be in the room that long if its that bad, but like others we were pleasantly surprised, we found the reception staff very helpfull, as after 1 week i wanted to change rooms as ours only had a small balcony with no sun (room 232 ) and i thought they may be funny with me , just the oposite, they allowed us to view a different room (102) and it was sooooo much better. We also took the advice of another review and took a toaster with us ( £3.50) value from argos we were going to leave it there but its so much better than our expensive one we bought it back with us ( i know that is sad ) .The bus to Rhodes town is on the opposite side of the road from the hotel and is only 2 euros 10 and it runs every 15 minutes and gets you there quick and on the way back the driver shouts out the different hotels so you dont have to worry about missing your stop. Yes the rooms are basic but no different from any selfcatering we have stayed in greece and the hot water issue is the same, you need to get in early before everyone decides to have a shower in the evening and you are ok , before 6 and it is piping hot. One issue with olympic was the flight times we were flying at 6am but were expected to vacate our room at 12noon the previous day, but after enquiring at reception was told we could pay 30 euros to have our room till 7pm or 40 euros till we were picked up, we chose the 40 euros option and it was money well spent . just one more thing either take some jellies (shoes) with you or buy some beach shoes over there as if you like to go in the sea wearing them will stop you looking a right muppet as you try to walk over the stones getting out.

We've been to many Greek self catering places and the Kassandra was great. You do have to have an open mind whilst in Greece.

Food at taverna on site was brilliant at lunchtime and evening. the rooms were spacious although the aircon was above the front door nowhere near the bedroom, but it did eventually cool down. We were in the main building with a huge balcony with a view of a huge rubber tree, as I said you must have an open mind, I didn't book the Kassandra for stunning balcony views, it was quiet and we had everything we needed, you could also hire a toaster for I think 6 euros a week. Bus stop a stones throw away, we went into Rhodes town twice and the bus was easy and cheaper than taxi. The beach was very windy so we never ventured there, only 10 minute walk from main Trianda where all the tavernas and bars are, we ate in San Allotte because it was welcoming, good food and a fmaily run little taverna, Dimitri and her husband Nikos. We booked a trip for 30 euros with Captains tours in Trianda instead of the 42 euros Olympic wanted for the same trip.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions.
