This review applies to the Alexis 4 Seasons not the Alexis on Socratous. We chose it for the last night of our holiday and asked our hotel (the Nikos Takis) to make us a reservation on the roof terrace. This they did and even had a second conversation the night we went as we were warned by them that this might not be open due to the high wind. When we arrived, however, there was absolutely no evidence that anyone had bothered to make note of our reservation and certainly no mention of the roof terrace. The table we were shown to was not even laid and still had a dirty cloth on from the previous people.
The service was atrocious: surly, disinterested and unhelpful. We were not "allowed" to have what we had chosen from the menu. No clear reason was given but seemed to be rather that they could not be bothered. We were told to select a fish (supposedly fresh) from the cabinet and told we could have it grilled or cooked in foil. We chose the latter. The first courses were adequate although nothing special. The fish (supposedly filleted) was full of bones and virtually inedible although my husband's piece was better. Afterwards we were then left for over half an hour: no one came to clear the plates or offer us anything further. Instead, all the waiters concentrated on clearing tables etc. There were not many customers left so they didn't even have the excuse of being busy. We finally managed to get the bill (which came promptly - the only thing that did) and left without ordering coffee or dessert.
I did notice a number of locals come in whilst there but they were all led away somewhere else (perhpas the mythical roof terrace?) reinforcing the impression created by the restaurant that tourists were second class citizens whose only purpose was to pay inflated prices but who did not merit a decent meal in return. We had been warned Alexis was expensive but this would not have mattered so much had the service been worth it.
