“The Only Place To Stay In Rhodes Old Town”
Reviewed October 6, 2008

I have just read the review 'beware of this hotel', with total disbelief. I have stayed in camelot several times this year including June. Camelot is a traditional hotel with a totally unique charm and personal service. I admit there are other 5 star hotels in rhodes that may appear superior on the surface but having stayed in some of them myself in previous years I have found that one is treated as a room number rather than a person. For example, breakfast is an experience in itself, all fresh from local bakeries that morning, mouthwatering croissants, fresh greek yoghurt, local produce (fresh fruit and cheeses) and homemade jam. I have stayed in every room in Camelot and have found them all spotlessly clean and comfortable. What can I say about Nina? She has a warm, friendly personality, helps each guest in any way she can and basically just has that 'magic touch'. We are among several guests form all over the world who re-visit Nina and her charming romantic retreat.

We decided to stay at Camelot in Rhodes after reading earlier Trip Advisor recommendations and were so glad that we did.
It must be the smallest hotel with the biggest heart in Rhodes. We arrived hot, grumpy and travel-stained and were miraculously revived and unwound within 30 minutes of dumping our bags on the cool flagstones of the little courtyard.
All we can add to the many earlier and very comprehensive reviews is that if you are daunted by the prospect of finding such a tiny place in the very middle of medieval alleyways, just use your mobile phone. As soon as you have a taxi, call Nina on your then hand it over to the driver.
You will be delivered to the door in record time for a very fair price!
We loved the 14th century architecture, the sense of living history, the comfortable room and the food.
It is an ideal base for exploring Rhodes, taking trips to the islands or simply spending a couple of fascinating days exploring the old town.

We stayed at Camelot between 27th August and 3rd September and completely fell in love with this charming little hideaway. It is delightfully set in the heart of the medieval old town, only a few yards from the busy main square and it’s numerous bars, shops and restaurants (although the best ones are to be found in the alleyways & side streets which form the endless labyrinth of this enchanting city). Despite the chaos and hullabaloo of the surrounding tourist magnet, Camelot is an oasis of tranquillity. It is owned and run tirelessly by Nina who made it her priority to ensure that we were always comfortable and gave us invaluable advice on sightseeing and excellent recommendations on wining & dining.
Camelot was created from a ruin by Nina, who took time to explain its most interesting history to us. Although small and relatively simple (far removed from the blandness of the big chains) the hotel is spotlessly clean with the air conditioned rooms surrounding a small courtyard where the famous breakfasts are served. Or if you prefer, there is also a cosy dining area inside which offers a cool retreat from the relentless Greek sunshine. At the moment there are just four guest rooms ranging from twin or double to a small family studio with self catering facilities although we understand that there are plans to add more rooms.
Camelot proved to be a perfect base for our holiday and although the old town is very absorbing, we managed to drag ourselves away to explore ancient Lindos and the impossibly picturesque island of Symi. If time permits, nearby Kalithea, a beautifully renovated Roman spa-style resort, with its tiny beach and rocky coves is an ideal place to while away an afternoon. Also nearby is Monte Smith, topped with the remains of an acropolis and a perfectly restored amphitheatre and arena, not to mention stunning views over Rhodes town.
If you really want to capture the atmosphere of the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe then Hotel Camelot has to be an excellent and different choice.

While in Greece this summer, we spent four days in Rhodes and stayed at the two star Hotel Camelot. It has only four rooms but they are spacious and immaculate. It was a ruined, historical house in the center of Old Town. The location is fabulous, just near the Marine Gate entrance. The owner Nina has restored it with a team of experts from the Museum. It has a lot of style and character. There is a wonderful quiet courtyard where you can rest and relax. Nina is exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. She has plenty of suggestions on where you should eat the best typical food and what to visit while in Rhodes. She serves a large, delicious breakfast. You won't be disappointed!

Camelot at the heart of Old Town is the best place to stay in Rhodes. Especially for young people who would like to enjoy both days and nights the island. It is a small boutique hotel with perfect location and the nicest owner. Nina was so friendly and prepared the best breakfast in Rhodes :))) We would definetly stay there next time and we strongly suggest Camelot. Thanks to Nina!!!

What can I add to the above rave reviews except to say they are all accurate. Nina is a wonderful hostess, and the only criticism I would have is the size of my waistline after one of her breakfasts! All Nina's recommendations were spot on and she always phoned ahead to tell restaurants we were coming, where we were then given right royal treatment. I can't wait to go back and I now consider Nina a friend.
