The hotel was clean and staff were pleasant. The rooms were of average size and the bathrooms were clean. The beds were made every day ( although mine wasnt too comfy as the mattress had seen better days but it was ok) and towels were changed daily. The worst thing about the room were the blinds that didn't work. The breakfasts were good. There was a choice of cereal, tinned peaches, fruit salad, apricots, fresh water melon, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, French toast, tomatoes, cucumber, selection of cold meats and cheeses, bacon on some days, sausages on others, pastries, selection of breads, freshly made pancakes, fried eggs, tea, coffee, fruit juices. In my opinion there is enough choice there to satisfy most people. We never waited for a table and the staff worked incredibly hard to clean and tidy the tables quickly. The evening meal was taken in the Grand. There wasn't a separate queue for those staying in la vita if you turned up at the correct time. In fact we never had to wait at all. the front of house staff worked very hard to ensure no one waited long. The food was fantastic and varied. There was a wide selection of salads, fish, meats, grilled meats, vegetables and deserts which included lots of fresh fruit such as peaches and nectarines. There was always a selection of cakes, jellies, ice creams and baklavas. It was hard to choose as it was all yummy. Every night there were different choices. There were always breads, salads, fresh home made burgers and pork gyros. Each night there was a choice of 2 soups too. Food was hot, the queuing minimal and again the staff worked hard.
The pools at the grand were great, clean ( thanks to the staff) and sun beds were plentiful. Again we always got one.
The location was great. There are lots of bars locally. The harbour, old town etc was a 15 min stroll which was flat. The old town was stunning with lots to see if you like culture and history. The new Market was great with one bar becoming a favourite. The locals were so helpful and friendly. They would invite you into their shops/bars etc but if you said no, they were pleasant. There was always a breeze which was most welcome in the July heat.
So to sum up, the location of the hotel was good (I should have told them about the mattress not being good), the food was great, the hotel was clean, no extra charge was made for air con, the prices in Rhodes were good ( worth shopping around before buying things). Would I go back? Most definitely, a week wasn't long enough, it felt safe and I shall return as there is so much of Rhodes I haven't yet seen. The Mitsis group have got a lot of hard working staff who keep the hotels clean and hospitable.
