Just come back from 2 weeks AI at the hotel. Arrived Wed evening about 9pm at hotel only to be told overbooked and will have to go to hotel across the road. We were in a party of 5 people, the single room was ok and he went to his room. We argued with man on reception (who does need glasses to see!) but gave up and went across to other hotel. Receptionist there offered us an appt for 4 people for the night. Def no as our party was myself and my husband and 2 female friends. After more arguing she gave us 2 double rooms eventually.

Went back to Mitsis for drinks and until 12 midnight there were people coming in and getting their rooms straightaway. Anyway stayed in other hotel, went back with cases in the morning and had breakfast. No problem then and got our rooms. Hotel spotlessly clean, nice spacious rooms, we even had a slight sea view. Food ok and plenty choice.

After speaking to other English in hotel who had same problem as us first night, we decided to speak to the manager. No problem with him he let all 5 of us in his office. He apologised and gave us free safe and to keep our rooms at end of stay as we only left at 7pm. Also got drinks in fridge.

We also asked him about dress code for evening dinner. This is one thing that really annoys me, it states on the website men must wear long trousers also there is a sign as you enter the dining room saying the same, but the restaurant manager just let them in wearing shorts all the time. When we asked the hotel manager he said it was a problem but not everyone comes on holiday with a pair of long trousers and he did not feel you could ask them to go out and buy a pair. So what is the point of having a notice up then !!!

Because the hotel is in a town it does not have the facilities other hotels have. There is nowhere to sit outside at night, unless you sit on the wall as all other seats are taken every evening. Whilst we were there it was blowing a gale as soon as you go outside, but thats nothing to do with the hotel! Entertainment poor so quite boring in the evening and nothing to keep you there.

Staff, waitresses and cleaning staff no problems except for 1 guy in bar. My husband went for last orders at 11.40pm for 5 drinks, ordered 4 then barman waved his arms and said no more as it was 11.45 and AI finished. If we wanted to finish our order then would have to put money in the tips. We did tell the manager about that as well and he agreed it should not have happened. He must have spoken to barstaff as did not have any problems after that.

So, to finish, had a brill holiday, but would not go back there. Would not go back to Rhodes again also.

Just got back from a fortnight stay at the hotel booked through Cosmos as a package. On arrival at 5pm a grumpy receptionist told us and another couple there was "a problem" and we were not staying in the hotel that night, and had to walk to another some 500 metres away with all our cases etc. Never found out the reason why we could not stay, but Cosmos were not aware we were even being moved,so whatever it was it was down to the hotel.

We returned to the hotel first thing the following morning and to be fair we were found a room within half an hour, this being the good bit,the room. A good sized, clean room with views of the sea and the Turkish coast. We found the beds OK but we do like a hard mattress. The rooms are cleaned daily and are the best bit of the hotel.

We were upgraded to all inclusive but didnt use it that much, we prefer to spend our evenings in the local bars, not drinking small beers in a hotel bar listening to people try to sing.

The resturant is a farce, run by the most useless head waiter I have ever come accross. There are signs saying no shorts at dinner and no taking food away, yet depending which country you are from he just laughs and lets them get away with it. He goes missing when people are waiting to be seated leading to queues outside, or people just pushing through and seating themselves. He has his favourites, and places room cards on certain tables, thus reserving the table for them, leaving it empty whilst others search for somewhere to sit. The food is Ok but gets a bit boring after a bit. There is a big play on the wood burning pizza ovens, and the pizzas are good, but its the same three pizzas everyday!!!. By the last few days we'd got fed up of the food, the queing, being barged into whilst queing that we ate all our meals out.

One the last night my wife went to switch the bedside light off and received a shock up her arm, a bang and all the electrics going off. I switched the fuse switch back on and found that the socket for the light was actually hanging away from the wall with all the wiring clearly visable. I took a photo and told reception only to be greeted with a shrug of the shoulders when I pointed out how dangerous shoddy electrics can be.

To sum up, a bad start which the hotel struggled to recover from, the room we had was great, the staff, apart from the bald headed guy on reception and the headwaiter are very friendly. The hotel is in a great position for the beach and the old town, but sorry, wont being staying their again

Overall I was happy with the hotel.
The location is perfect for the beach and for walking to the old town.
The rooms were clean.
Towels are changed daily, sheets every 2-3 days.
Food was plentiful, tasty, but a little lacking local color excepting the dinner on the" Greek night". Also we were not so happy with the fish offered- it was "modest!" Instead, we liked especially the cakes.
If I would have to give a grade to this hotel, I would note it with 8.50 out of 10.

Stayed here for 2 weeks AI and found everything as expected with the food and drinks, wasn't 4* food but a very good 3*. Good variety, nice salads, perfect Pizza, Something for everyone. Restaurant was small but everything ran smoothly, didn't have to wait long to be seated and the staff were brilliant, we tended to get a table down near the dessert counter and had a waitress called Tasoula, she was brilliant, very efficient, friendly and caring. Tables all nicely set with clean cutlery and glasses, much better than the canteen style find a table and grab your cutlery scrum we have experienced in other AI.Much more refined here.
Drinks were not bad either, not the best quality but drinkable. Have been AI before and not been able to drink any of it, so can't complain. Red wine was awful but the white was fine, beer ok too. Spirits not the best quality but ok with mixers. Cocktails not very strong but reasonable variety to choose from. Bar staff were good, especially Voula, she was so friendly and helpful. We never had to wait long to be served as they were all quick. No restrictions on how many drinks at one time either and all served in glasses, apart from plastic ones for round the pool.
Rooms were a good size and very clean, beds very low and would be a problem for some people. They are a bit firm but not too bad. Bathrooms ok, only problem here is the hand held shower, but this is a water saving thing, stops you lingering under it and wasting water. Balcony was small but adequate with a table and 2 chairs. Not the prettiest of views but we knew there were no views to be had anyway so not a problem.
Pool was quite small, no children's area or anything to entertain them, so not a child friendly hotel. Didn't bother us ours are all grown up. Sun loungers have seen better days, not very comfy and we found quite a few broken, but we managed to get one every time we wanted one. There was a toilet by the pool which was kept spotless by the maids, and bins around the pool emptied regularly. Nice touch everyday was a waiter offering iced tea for everyone who wanted it, morning and afternoon, even the half board residents. They came all around the pool area, and then came back later to collect the empties.
Reception staff were great, always had a smile and were very helpful when we swapped rooms, we swapped because our original room balcony was shared with the a/c unit so the staff offered us a swap immediately and even wanted to help us move, brilliant. How many hotels offer that, you are lucky if they offer you a swap in the first place.
So all in all we didn't expect too much but were pleasantly surprised by this little hotel, the staff make all the difference. Only 2 nights entertainment a week but it is enough, there is plenty to do around the hotel. Lots of shops bars and restaurants in the area, and best of all only a 15 min walk to the old town.

Oh dear! Thought previous reviews re all inclusive we're just comments by never satisfied bunch but... True I am afraid! Drinks on AI package not worth having! Got pulled pint from non AI pump by accident n this actually tasted of lager! Food v. Mediocre! Seems hotel is trying to please all nationalities but failing! Please stick to local specialities.
Good points as said by others; cleanliness, room size and good ish location to old town n beaches!
Best thing; young woman on reception- so helpful and pleasant (needs a pay rise)! Worst; male bar staff! In essence you get less than what you pay for!

Disappointing after reading reviews prior to our stay here. I've divided my comments into three parts:

1. The Good:
Spotlessly clean hotel and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Bar staff fantastic and generous drinks.
Perfect location for Rhodes Old Town which is fantastic and a must to visit.

2. The Bad:
Restaurant too small and gets overcrowded. ( Even though staff do their best) Leads to a frantic collection of plates by waiters as they 'need' your table for the next. Hold onto your plates as they'll take your food away before you're finished!

Food: Oh dear! The best thing was that it was hot. But, monotonous and boring. Our party got to the point by day three that we knew what to expect at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you'd sent us in 'blind-fold' we could have found the dishes we knew would be there! No prizes then for variation/imaginative cuisine and so bored were we that we ate out three times at night. Definitely not 4* food.

Not enough chairs and tables in bar areas which leads to people behaving like removal men. I watched as five tables became emptied of chairs as larger groups needed the extras! Funny, but, annoying. The bar areas are overall too small.

Pool area adequate but very small. Again, just about enough beds for low season as we've just experienced. What would happen in high season? Pool itself very, very small.

Balconies: On the road side appear to be normal, as you would expect- decent sized. Ours, on the pool side - what a joke. Not only are they micro, but, rickety old wooden and frighteningly supported by one lower support beam. Not for the faint-hearts. Our friend who is a Health and Safety Consultant will be making a full report of advice to the travel agent.

The Bad:

Poolside view of buildings in ruins, one of which used to be a hotel as we discovered. Not exactly your usual scenic balcony scenery. Also, those balconies!!

Food, though edible, boring.

O.k. This is probably the first hotel I've not rated highly. So here's my Conclusive Points:

Hotel management are probably aware of the overcrowding problem in restaurant/bar as they have a restaurant manager who seats you at your table to avoid parties of two taking a four seat table; and one night, after failing to find our own seats in bar we sat in lobby by cards/computer tables only to witness waiters removing some of these chairs to the bar.
The hotel has unused spaces either side of main entrance which could be incorporated into restaurant and bar areas. This has already occurred anyway which becomes obvious when you stay there and you see the existing layout. ( An over-spill extension already exists to both restaurant and bar)

Food: Vamp up your turn around of cuisines, creating a more varied choice. There is nothing wrong with the standard of cooking just the variety offered.

Balconies: On poolside need to be updated. View from poolside....oh well..!

Verdict:

A good 3* plus not a 4* based on the problems we encountered.
4* cleanliness, rooms and friendliness of staff makes this a pleasant hotel, but, I've stayed in much better for the same money.

Point of Interest: The buzz was that the 4* Mitsis Grand Hotel was even worse on the food and drinks but, the setting/facilities were much better. We walked to look at the hotel and the pool/gardens/ lounge bars were gorgeous. It was the same cost to have stayed there. But, at least our food was edible.

Room Tip: Hmm... stay on roadside, high floor.
