Just returned from this hotel, overall not bad, but not especially exciting either. We booked with Thomson who rate it 4T, while the local rating is 5*. Not sure who the local was who rated it, but it just about rated 4*, but only just.
So, whats right with it. Extremely friendly staff, nearly all spoke excellent english, well looked after in reception bar and restaurant, while the Thomson rep was superb, probably the best we have seen, and we have used Thomson quite a lot. Overall the hotel was clean and tidy, a good inhouse shop at what seemed very good prices. We only had a room facing the cliff, but it was modern and well appointed, clean tidy with everything you wanted, except the TV - more later. Yes we had no sea view, but what the heck, you only sleep in the room so who cares. Pools were really nice, 3 outside, one for children, and one indoor, never had any problem getting a sun bed any time of day, despite the last few days the hotel was full. Hotel also has its own part of the beach, although this was actually on an area just next to the beach. The beach itself is narrow and stony, if you want to lay on a sandy beach all day, go elsewhere.
Air conditioning is not throughout the hotel, some of the main areas had nothing, but worked OK in our room, the bar and restaurant.
Easy acess to Rhodes town, only 2.1euros from right outside the hotel, often a taxi will stop and offer to take you, share with two others and its only 8 euros, so same price. Also easy to get a bus back.
So overall pretty good so far, with a little thought, it could have been so much better.
There is a nice bar just off the foyer, but it is only open from 5 to 10, believe it is now open to midnight, starting the day we left of course. If you want a drink during the day, it is pool bar only.
Food was buffet style, which is pretty much what you expect with Thomson and most holiday hotels nowadays, breakfast was OK, but the same every morning, evenings were often "themed", but quite frankly struggled to see much difference, a reasonable choice each night, but not exactly exciting, the staff however were superb.
Entertainment - advertised as every night, usually in the bar on the 8th floor, which is small with no air conditioning, although there is a terrace, it is much too small for the size of hotel. Entertainment was usually two people dancing to the soundtracks from shows etc. She was pretty good, he was tubby and hopeless, more or less the same thing every night, although after 5 minutes the first time we virtually never went again. One night it was round the pool area, which was much better, entertainment was still rubbish, but the atmosphere was better.
Internet computers are available, we had no problems, but gather some others did. Wifi available, but at a cost, as pretty much every other hotel. All local bars have free wifi.
Back to the TV, the only english channel was BBC world, which gets a bit boring after a while, plenty of german, french, polish, probably other languages, and of course greek, not even radio. I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV, but even so this was dire.
So come on Thomson and the hotel, just a little more effort and thought and it would warrant the 4T rating.
Nothing to do with the hotel, but do not get caught by Aegean Blue, "It's not a Timeshare they say" - Oh yes it is.
