Boukia Boukia (Mnoukia Mnoukia) was our best experience of a real Greek taverna as it should be. In Platonos Street off Socratous Street. You'll find hundreds of smarter, more 'designer', more expensive places in the Old Town ... and there are waiters calling your attention elsewhere in the main squares. None of that hassle here. The Boukia Boukia is an authentic small family run restaurant, and recommended by many of the small hotels in the Old Town for its cooking. Brother and sister, Filimonas and Dimitra run the place - and they invited us into the kitchen to choose what we would like. No pretension, no high prices. We paid £20 for a lovely meal for two which included half a litre of retsina. Filimona and Dimitra were both very friendly and helpful and obviously took pride in their local tradition and cuisine. If you are looking for same-old, same-old with hordes of crowds - go elsewhere. If you want to try local and traditional - then Boukia Boukia and a handful of other places in the Old Town still offer this kind of charm and authenticity. I will definately go back. Really worth supporting a business like this I feel.
