“Use the bar!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

Enjoyed the few days we had here last September. The hotel itself was great, positioned about as well as it could be with everything you need for a holiday. One hint though, if you want washing done (and we were travelling around Greece and needed fresh laundry) take it next door, there's a laundrette there.....which is used by the hotel anyway who add their hefty charge)
My only criticism is of the guests......... the hotel has a great bar, forget the name of the barman but he's very professional and a great host. The bar prices are competitive, try it out, you might be surprised

We were while it was not very hot so the pool was cold but it's nice.
The staff is not the nicest I met - we had a problem with the luggage and a beg we lost and we had to find it so they said "call from the room" instead of calling themselves one of the times.
They're English is bad.
The rooms are nice,
Nice location. 5-7 minutes from the beach and 10 mins. from the old city.

Title says it all- almost. Large, clean rooms, good beds, in the centre of the (new) town, near pleasant shops, terrace restaurants, libraries, all you need. Old town at walking distance. Big outdoor pool, sunbeds on terrace with bar, whirlpool. We liked the two stops we made this month.

We stayed 11 nights in Hotel Plaza. The room was comfortable and spacious and the balcony, too. The breakfast was very generous. Once we had a nice lunch in the restaurant, also the dinner is served. The swimming pool area is beautiful and sheltered. The hotel is situated just a few steps from the Mandraki harbour and close to the official buildings of the city. Also the beaches are very near. Although it was not the high season the hotel seems to be very busy and have very many customers. There were voices from neighbouring rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: From the fourth floor room heading to the street you can see the sea.

The hotel located in the city centre, walking distance from the port and the old town, is a good three star hotel. The rooms are comfortable but noisy (especially the ones overlooking the street). During my stay besides that main street traffic, there was a group of very loud teenagers staying in the hotel that were partying in the corridor that made it even more difficult to sleep....The buffet breakfast was rich with both warm and cold items (the famous Greek cookies among them). The staff, not too friendly, try their best to satisfy the guests. I saw the pool off the lobby of the hotel but I did not use it. Rhodes with its history, architecture and beautiful resorts remains one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean- this city hotel has the ideal location to discover the old historic centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back of the hotel as rooms overlooking the main street are noisy

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on what to expect if you are staying here in the next week or two.
Don't expect a pool or any outdoor seating area/terrace ( even though the website states 'heated pool Apr-Oct'), no air con in your room, the hotel is located on a noisy main road and expect incompetent managers who refuse to acknowledge any complaints.

Certainly NO WHERE NEAR a Best Western standard.

We stayed at this hotel for a week over Easter. Expectations were not high due to the mixed reviews the hotel has received, however we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. We stayed in a junior suite which was very spacious with an adjoining room with a double bed for our son. The main bedroom was large as was the bathroom. OK the furnishings were a bit dated but overall we were pleased with the room except for a strange stale beer smell which hit us on entering every time- we mentioned this to the front desk- their response was to move rooms (into a much smaller one) and when we did not take them up on this they sprayed air freshner which didn't really solve the problem. Bit disappointed that there was a charge for use of the safe and there were only few TV channels even though we had 2 massive TVs in both rooms.
Breakfast was chaos with people milling around everywhere, tables uncleared and most times we had to ask for it to be set for us. The choice of food was reasonable but due to the chaos we chose not to bother twice and opted for a sleep in. Tip- get a cheaper rate by skipping breakfast- there are plenty of places nearby to eat.
Swimming pool: the hotel should make clear whether the pool is open on their website as it isn't, I even rang beforehand to check if it was open, they said its open from April and were a bit vague. As the weather was warm during our stay our son wanted to use the pool and indeed others were but the hotel said it was closed for winter. At first they didn't stop people using it and then after a few days closed the entire area off and proceeded to empty the pool meaning you couldn't even sit outside in the sun.
As others have said the location is great- I would opt for this area over the old town any day. Thereare nice bars very close by (try the Mauro) and a lovely Greek taverna 5 mins away (George & Marias Falafel Grill House- see my review) as well as the beach which is 5 min walk.
Overall our stay was fine, we got a large size room for a good rate, location was great but a few things let the hotel down. Not sure we would stay here again and would try somewhere else.

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms better but no sun in the afternoon. Ask for a room with a balcony. Junior suite go...
