Wonderful place, historical attraction. Here you can feel the greatness of old times. I have been few times there to get some inspiration and it did always have a magical influence on me. Good for everyone-a tourist, a historian, a writer...

The palace was built in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes. The Knights had occupied Rhodes from 1309 to 1522. The palace underwent restoration during the Italian occupation of Rhodes in early 20th century. Though palace is quite big, it is not so beautiful or tastefully decorated in comparison to many palaces that I’ve seen in India & Turkey. It may be something to do with the nature of the palace. It looks very strong and might have been used as a defensive fort. The palace has very interesting and beautiful floor mosaics belonging to medieval period. The courtyard is big and one could visualize knights assembling here in the distant past. The Knight’s prayer room is another interesting room in the palace. The palace reflects one chapter among many in the chequered history of Rhodes.

Very beautiful place close to the city center, a must see when you are in Rhodes. A place to take many memorable photographs to remember your trip to Greece.

We stayed in Rhodes old town, so this site was almost unavoidable. But don't miss it if you are in Rhodes, especially if you are a history buff. This is very unique piece of Greek mediaeval history.
