We stayed here for one night towards the end of September, and aside from the excellent location (right in the middle of the action) and the absolutely lovely rooms with a nice courtyard, the service provided by John (as echoed by many on tripadvisor) was absolutely exceptional. He made us feel like we were guests at his house and was extremely helpful and flexible with anything and everything. You could tell he really had a passion for making your stay in Rhodes as great as possible.

I would say that Zacosta Villa beats the Mandarin Orientals, Peninsulas and JW Mariotts of the world any day.

Thank you John, we could not have asked for more and will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights to begin our honeymoon. Upon checkin, we were surprised and thrilled to learn that John had upgraded our room to the Gran Maestro Suite. John proved to be extremely Rhodes-knowledgeable and a gracious host - All recommendations for activities, dining, and general guidance proved invaluable. The fantastic breakfasts in the garden at Zacosta are a great way to begin a busy sightseeing day, and the garden courtyard also serves as a relaxing locale to wind down with a bottle of wine. John and Zacosta Villa Hotel are top notch. Highly recommended!

In the heart of crowded Rhodes old town lies a quiet, clean and stylish villa. We intended to have a lazy vacation with lots of comfortable sleep, long and rich breakfasts and a cozy atmosphere. We didn't care for swimming pools or open-buffet stuffing so this hotel fullfiled our intention. The hotel owner John never seems to sleep, always upto something, he is really a hardworking and helpful person. I strongly recommend this hotel to the people who are planning to stay at the old town and looking for a clean, stylish but not extremely luxurious place.

My partner and I stayed here in August 2013 and we were delighted with our stay.
Its is located in the old medieval part of Rhodes, and our room was immaculate, breakfast was wonderful and the garden is excellent for winding down after a day out and for the breakfast.

The host is ever so helpful with recommendations and directions, and also came to collect us from the taxi(a good 5 mins walk from the hotel).(Taxis are not allowed access to all parts of the medieval city as it is a UNESCO heritage site).

I can highly recommend this place and the people running it, but would say it is fractionally at the higher end of the price range for accommodation in this locality.

The excellent rating is well deserved and everything you have read about John and the facility was borne out during our short two night stay. He responded immediately to an email about how to find reach the villa hotel, we contacted him from the taxi, he guided the driver how to maneuver through the narrow lanes of the medieval town, met us at the taxi at the clock tower with a hand cart, toted our bags through the narrow cobblestone alley, openned the door leading us into the beautiful courtyard and up to our second story room. The room was exactly as in all the pictures, the frig was loaded with bottles of water, and John laid out a map of the old town pointing out the major attractions and answered our questions about restaurants with live Greek music. He had unlimited patience and a cheerful attitude and made us feel we were honored guests. As we subsequently discovered the hotel is in a great location for leisurely exploring the sites in old town. The breakfast in the patio was one of the highlights of this visit, so relaxed, and table loaded with local specialities. We particularly enjoyed the Greek yogurt and John showed us on the map where the local grocery store in the old city was located and said if we couldn't find it he would go himself. We found it and bought a few cartons to bring home with us.
Initially we had thought about a full board stay at one of the hotels along the coast, but changed our mind and opted for an inexpensive charter flight and an upscale stay at Zacosta in the old city. We were very happy we did so. On first night we ate at Romeo's where there was live Greek music. It was about leisurely ten minute walk from the hotel. The second night we ate at Symposium which even closer to the hotel. My wife had Sea Bass cooked in Salt and she enjoyed it very much.
John told us that he would be increasing the size of the villa hotel from three to five rooms soon and even increasing the size of the room we stayed in. We thought it was fine, but it could really use a bit more space. The only thing my wife didn't like were the narrow wooden stairs leading up to the second floor rooms.
If we come back to the old city of Rhodes again for a break we would certainly stay here again. We can also highly recommend it if you are just passing through for a single night, as some of the guests we meet at breakfast said they were.

I echo the sentiments of the majority of comments. Great location. High attention to detail. Amazing courtyard. John the owner/host provides great service. Comfiest bed we slept in during our 3 weeks in Greece. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Our stay at the Zacosta Villa Hotel was one of sheer bliss. As many other reviewers have said, John is a wonderful host - constantly attentive and willing to answer any queries levied at him, though not pushy at all. My partner and I were relatively quiet and kept to ourselves for the majority of our stay, and he was fine with that - he didn't press us into making conversation, but was more than willing to talk if approached. It made for a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The room that we had initially asked for was the Giardino, but assumedly due to other people booking the same room and the fact that we'd asked to stay for a week, we were given a free upgrade to the Raimondo room. When adding in the discount that we were offered by John upon booking the room, we ended up with a really good deal for our money.

The Raimondo was spacious, with all the amenities you would expect - bed-side lights, a dresser, a wardrobe, a mini fridge, an air conditioning unit, etc. In addition to this, we had free bottles of mineral water that were restocked every day in the mini fridge, as well as a complimentary bottle of wine (that we never actually tried in the end!) The bathroom was decent, featured a bath + shower attachment, free shampoo and shower gel.

On an extremely minor note, the walls in the Raimondo did seem quite thin. If other guests staying at the hotel are speaking loudly in the courtyard, you'll be able to hear them as clear as day. John isn't at the hotel all the time, only showing up at certain hours outside of the morning, so he isn't available to keep a tabs on things if one of the guests is causing a ruckus (which is unlikely to happen, since there are only three rooms in the hotel as it is).

John asked us when we wanted to have breakfast every morning, though we didn't alternate too wildly from around 8am during our stay. The breakfast was delicious - the highlight being the three different kinds of local savoury pastries. The dessert pastries were also very nice. As well as these, there were a selection of fruits, different breads, croissants, muffins, jams, butter, honey, Greek yoghurt - we were truly spoilt for choice. Usually we felt so full from having breakfast that we ended up skipping lunch!

The location of the Zacosta was fantastic, nestled neatly into a side street at the pinnacle of Rhodes Old Town. The sights immediately around the hotel were very impressive, with beautiful winding streets and architecture. As well as being within a short walking distance from all the major sights of the Old Town, the bus stop of Rhodes town allowed for travel practically anywhere else throughout the island - and the harbour was full of ferries offering trips to other islands, or other parts of Rhodes.

All in all, we were incredibly satisfied with our stay at the Zacosta and cannot recommend it enough. We really didn't want to leave!
