“Not petit and definitely not a palace”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

Not really sure why they choose the name Petit Palais. This is a quite large Med. resort.

I hotel has a nice location, quite close to the beach (windy side of Rhodes), shops and restaurants. A 5 - 10 min stroll to the harbor and about the same to the old city.

The room I had (211) might possibly be one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. No place to have my suitcase without blocking anything. But since I stayed in a single room it was no big issue. I peeked into some other rooms - and they looked quite spacious.

The room had a OK balcony facing the sea, sunset and with a nice ocean breeze.

The room did also have a fridge, a small tv - and a OK bathroom.

My main issue with this hotel is the limited space in the common areas. Both the restaurant, reception and pool areas where crowed. Also the WIFI in the reception area did not work for any practical purpose.

All the sunbeds where occupied by towels at nine. Most of the people did not arrive until a few hours later. If the management had followed up on their "Do not reserve" policy - there would probably be enough sunbeds.

The staff was really friendly - and together with the location they are the hotels biggest asset.

The food was on the better half of All Inclusive.

This was our second stay at Petit Palais, and we were not dissapointed! The hotel is placed perfectly in the northern part of Rhodes city with only about 100m to the west beach and 5-10 min walk to our favorite beach, Elli Beach.
The rooms are quite big with aircon and a fridge available for your use (making a cold drink at the balcony in the evening possible).
The restaurant food included in the all-inclusive option is fairly good. A large selection of not bad, but not excellent food.
But what really makes us come back is the wonderful, serviceminded attentive staff.
The sincere smile and greetings from the receptionists, everytime you pass by them, lights up your day!
Take your time to talk a little with them. They are all interesting, clever and nice persons!
Only minus is no internet in the rooms, and the free wifi in the reception area is slow and very unstable to say the least. I hope they fix that for our next visit, because I'm sure we'll come back to these wonderful people!

I came with my family to Rhodos for vacation last week and I stayed at Petit Palais Hotel. The thing that was the worst was one girl who was at the reception who was not smiling at all and was talking very bad to her colleagues. She had a tag-name on her suit. She was not having the best attitude especially when she thought no one was looking and she was very lazy and sent stressful and negative vibes, while her colleagues was alone and always doing paperwork. However all the other girls were very polite and nice with a great smile. We were impressed by the good Swedish skills! The food was very good, the waiters very polite and the location very good.

We stay at the hotel between the 1st Oct-15th Oct this year and apart from a poor start when we were put over to the sister Hotel La Vita just across the road for the 1st night. This seems to happen quite a lot as they tend to over book the Petit Palais as its a very popular hotel in Rhodes.
After I complained and we got to our room in the Petit Palais they had left us a bottle of wine, and a basket of fruit as well as the safe key at no cost to make up for itso cannot moan about the service.
The Hotel is fine large room with sea view as we had ask for when we booked. The room was very clean. The restaurant was fine and the restaurant manager would show you to your seats each meal the food was good and lots of choice the people who moan about the food must eat really well at home to beat this.
The hotel is well locate and within walking distance of the new and old town the beach is only 100mtrs away.
The only complaint I may have is the pool is quite small and not a great deal of sunbeds so I think you would have trouble in the peak season.
All in all a very nice break and would use this hotel again should we go back to Rhodes

Room Tip: rooms at the front with sea view seem to be bigger than some of the others

We were very pleased with this 4 * hotel. We arrived very late on the Saturday evening and were offered salad rolls and cake in the bar area as we had missed our evening meal. The hotel is very well located, being in the centre of shops and restaurants, a five minute stroll to a very nice beach, and a fifteen minute stroll to Mandraki Harbour and another five or ten minutes from there to the Old Town. Bus stops are nearby and the Casino five minutes away.
The reception, lounge area and restaurant were very nice and welcoming and the bar was fine,, although more seating would be good. Both lifts worked throughout our stay
Our room was pleasant and large with a good sized balcony with side views to the pool area and bell tower and nice balcony furniture.
The room had a fridge and an older tv, with poor reception. The only English channel was the News Channel. The air-conditioning was free but quite noisy, but most ac units are!
There were two large single beds pushed together and as I suffer from arthritis and have a replacement hip, I found the bed uncomfortable and sleeping difficult and tried folding the bedspread under me on the second night. To my absolute delight, on our return to the room at the end of the second day, the cleaner had put memory foam mattresses on both beds. I cannot express how delighted I was!
The staff, including the cleaners, the hotel manager, reception staff and serving staff in the restaurant were absolutely wonderful. Polite, friendly, efficient and anxious to help in any way they could.
We were staying half -board, but the hotel does do all inclusive. The breakfast and dinner buffets were large, very varied, well cooked and delicious, with a variety of greek dishes in the evening,, pastas and a choice of pizzas cooked in a wood oven.. Coffee was served at the tables in the morning; in the evening we had to purchase drinks to accompany our meal, with coffee available to purchase in the bar area.. The restaurant manager greeted each guest as a rule at the door to the restaurant and seated them, but didn't mind if they had a particular preference and it was available. Children were welcomed and the waiters chatted to them, but there were no specific children's meals or facilities for children in the hotel that we noticed. Their website says there is a playground next to the hotel, but we didn't see it.

We didn't use the pool area, but it looked nice and was kept very clean - we could see the cleaners scrubbing the loungers and tiles every day.

Entertainment in the bar area consisted of Greek dancing and singing on one night and karaoke on another night. These seemed popular. The bar area was well used up to midnight, when everything stopped - we were on the first floor at the opposite end of the corridor, and could hear the noise, but it didn't disturb us, and I am a light sleeper..

We were allowed to keep our room until 6.30 pm on the Saturday we flew home, at a cost of 35 euro, as we had a 10 pm flight.

The hotel was used by all nationalities, and by Greek holiday makers too.

I would strongly recommend this hotel to couples (maybe not honeymooners!), groups of adult friends, and singles, Families with very young children perhaps, but not for school age or teens. However, we went in mid October, the hotel was closing for the end of season the day after we left and it may well have other facilities in the main months and more things for older children during school holidays.

As we had booked this hotel through On the Beach, we got a very good discounted rate. If we ever returned to Rhodes we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Perhaps choose a room not over the bar, or at the bar end of the corridors, unless of course, you in...

the hotel wasnt that bad. we booked it because our brochure said it had double beds and we were on honeymoon. no double bed given and no flowers or anything. food was very basic. noisey air conditioning in bedrooms and you can only use the wifi in in the reception area. on a plus note, if you sit in the bar in the evening, tip the 2 barmen a tip and the drinks will flow all night lol
