With just one night in Rhodes Old Town we felt a bit under pressure to choose a restaurant, there are so many. You know how sometimes you think later - I wish we'd gone there instead-? well none of that here, It was a great setting under the big tree, the food was delicious and thoughtfully presented, we even got a couple of live artists singing and playing guitars. If I was more romantic I might have got down on one knee! The price was good too, about £40 for two including wine.

My choice was tasty but a little disappointing, a pot roasted veal dish from the specialities section of the menu. It was veal, potatoes and cheese thrown together in a pan then tipped into a cold clay pot. It went cold very quickly meaning the cheese just stuck everything together in one big lump.
My partner had chosen the winner of the night with a fillet steak, very good size and nicely cooked.
We found the restaurant to be one of only a few open till quite late, still serving up to around 11:00pm, hence our visit as we prefer to eat a little later.
The restaurant itself is visually picture perfect, with the outside seating set under large trees and amongst the high walls and narrow streets of the old town. the inside seating area is very clean and traditionally presented.
Price was a little bit more than average for the area, but worth it for the setting.

This was made abundantly clear by a hyperactive waitress. We assured her we wanted fish, and she settled down -- sort of. We like to eat a slow meal, so we thought it would be a challenge for this person to not to push us through the courses quickly. We made it clear we did not want to hurry, and she was able to oblige us.

The seafood was outstanding! We had a whole sea bream, which was succulent! Overall, a great food experience.

The marinated fish was excellent and the squid with oranges indeed delicious, as mentioned in the menu.

We stayed in Rhodes Old Town for two nights in mid-September 2013 and ate at Romios on our first evening. We liked it enough that we would have gone back the next evening, except that we wanted to try elsewhere (but found it very disappointing and wished we had indeed gone back).

We had very simple dishes -- grilled octopus, chicken souvlaki, and salad -- and found them excellent, both in terms of ingredients (quality, freshness) and preparation. The salad in particular was a treat as it had leafy greens (not that common in Greece) in addition to the usual lovely ripe tomatoes, feta cheese, etc. Beyond the food, we found the service to be both courteous and efficient, and the courtyard/garden atmosphere really lovely. Prices were not super-cheap, but compared favorably to those for similar items elsewhere in Greece.

Prior to venturing out to dinner, we had read general advisories in guidebooks to the effect that restaurants in Rhodes Old Town tended to be rather expensive and disappointing (hence had looked quite carefully at TripAdvisor reviews) and were gratified to find we had such a positive experience!!
