We stayed on honeymoon for a week. The hotel is fabulous, stylish and romantic. The garden in the evening is rather like you hope heaven might be! The family that run the hotel are lovely people, friendly, welcoming and accomodating.
Rhodes Old Town is full of character and we just strolled here and there, stopped off for a drink and decided where to eat in the evening. Romeos was excellent, but all were good. Never tired of wandering and enjoying the ambience.
Back to the hotel, with the most fabulous rooms and lighting and the highlight of the whole week, reading in the library (well one of the highlights!).

The Spirit is amazing...

After reading such wonderful reviews I was a little apprehensive as I didn't want to be disappointed as it had big expectations. The reviews are 120% correct!

We got dropped off at the gate and Alex met us with our enormous amount of luggage and wheeled them to the hotel without every complaining and with a lot of good humour.

We then met the rest of the family and was even offered a welcome drink. Breakfast was a feast fit for a king. The service and level of cleanliness was outstanding.

The family made our family feel very welcome. Our children loved coming down in the morning to have a chat and everyone took the time to talk to them. We never once where made to feel that our children didnt belong in fact the opposite was true!

We can't express how much we loved the hotel (and no they are not paying us to write this review). We look forward to our next stay..

We booked the Spirit of the Knights Boutique hotel for the last leg of our 3 centre Honeymoon in Greece. The first two centres, respectively central Athens and Santorini (Imerovigli) provided us with 5 Star experiences at well known hotels (the Grand Bretagne and The Grace Santorini), and so we were intrigued to see how this small, family-run, establishment would shape- up in comparison.

First, may I say that Alex helped me to book in at very short notice and suggested that we might like 3 nights in one suite and 2 nights in another.

We enjoyed three lovely nights in the Grand Master's Suite and then moved across to the Pasha Suite. Each suite exhibits a contrasting (yet entirely compatible) style and the Pasha boasts an excellent, fully functioning hammam bath as well as a separate bathroom lined in an exquisite  green veined marble.

A lovely touch in each suite is the "gift wrapped" selection of bathtowels in each bathroom... Truly novel and delightfully presented.

Breakfasts also were immaculately prepared and presented... The "country sausage" is a reason in itself to return asap!

Mrs Marshall, (better known as Felicity!) has created a masterpiece here in the backstreets of the medieval town of Rhodes. Her artist's eye for detail is apparent throughout this gem of a hotel. It compares very well indeed with our other excellent experiences on this trip.

What contributes to the pleasure of staying here is Felicity's willingness to open her heart to us, her guests. She is well supported in this venture by her extended family...comprising her beautiful grown -up children, Kyle, Alex and Keira as well as by her son-in-law, Duncan... As I sat in their peaceful water gardens composing this report I could hear the sound of laughter from family members within the house.. People obviously happy in their chosen vocation.

The family do not come from a professional hotelier background,  and that is a large part of their charm. They adopt a refreshingly 'different' approach to running a hotel. They treat you as they would wish to be treated themselves. With respect and friendliness so often absent in other places we have visited.

Unfortunately, due to unforseen family circumstances my new wife and I had  to cut short our honeymoon at very short notice. However, Felicity and her family rallied around us with every support, even finding a taxi that could pick us up from within the "no drive zone" of the old town to reduce our journey time to the airport.

Thank you Felicity and your lovely family.  Our short stay with you was absolutely wonderful. Your Spirit of the Knights hotel deserves every success.

We would love to return to stay wirh you during the low season, when the island reverts to its Greek roots.

Our cab dropped us off at one of the gates of Old Rhodes. Alex, one of the family owners, was there to meet us immediately. We had lots of luggage but somehow Alex was able to move it all through the cobblestone streets of Old Rhodes while we followed. Hotel is situated away from the noise and congestion of Old Rhodes. Upon arrival, we were treated like valued family guests. This is a family run hotel and they could not have been more accommodating. We were greeted with complimentary drinks in a serene garden location with the sound of water running from a fountain. We were then taken to our rooms where we had a sound nap and then proceeded to visit Old Rhodes. Room was beautiful, beds were very comfortable and when we were ready to go sightseeing, they recommended an excellent restaurant as well as places to avoiid as tourist traps. What really sets this hotel apart from other boutique that I've stayed at is the family hospitality which was the direct result of a closely knit family running a stunning small boutique hotel. No request was unmet. As the hour grew late, we returned to the hotel to recharge and perhaps hit the bars of New Rhodes. However, there was no need for that because a wonderful little impromptu cocktail party was going on wiith the other guests and the family. It was a fun and lively evening with a diverse group of very interesting guests and the family that runs the hotel. Our only regret is that our itinerary precuded us from staying for more than one evening. At the end of our stay there, we felt like we were part of the family. One cannot go wrong with a sojourn at this unique and beautiful hotel in the heart of Old Rhodes.

Spent a great week her for this year’s holiday. Made our own way there, we were advised where to get a taxi to and to call the hotel. The night porter met us and carried our bags to the hotel through the old town. Pointing out places of interest as we went. The room was great, very spacious and very clean. Great decor and as good a sit looked on the web site.
I found the breakfast selection good for me; I recommend the fruit, greek yoghurt with honey as well as the omelettes.
The hotel is down a small lane and is in a quite area of the old town but only 3 minutes from one of the main squares.
Staff were friendly and very very helpful, it’s a family run hotel and as they all live close by the can recommend bars and restaurants from personal experience.
We had a great stay, found it ideal for the old town. The staff helped organised excursions for us, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. A number of hotels in the UK could take a leaf out of their books !
We will be going back for another relaxing stay again as soon as we can.

As we were on a last minute reservation schedule, we called "spirit of the knights" to inquire about our next day stay and were accomodated 3 out of 4 nights.

This place is located in at the end of a small alleyway; arriving at night, and despite the kindness of those helping us with our luggages from the towns's gates, we were fearing the worst of tourist traps until reaching the door: we arrived and were taken by the charm of the lighting and the grandeur of it all: rooms set in a former knight residence reconstructed by the current owner and views on the fortifications.

But what really stroke us was, beyond kindness, the good spirit of the staff...or should I call it the familly ? The Lady owner of the place, having adopted and fostered in England some (many) years ago, found herself with a rally of support when she took the challenge of rebuilding this residence, consequently, there are links between all here.
Besides being taken care of by highly educated persons, there is a sense of warmth not found elsewhere.

After an incredible night's sleep in the sumptuous beds composed of 4 or 5 layers of different mattresses, Breakfast is individually prepared and served on the veranda surrounded by a superbly well designed water trickle under the shade of trees.

Needing a hotel for the one night where they were fully booked, the staff went on calling all known locations for vacancies for 2 hours until we could secure a room at Rodos Suite just outside of the old city walls.

After that "night out" we were pleased to get back to "our" place; entering our 5 m high room, we decided to stay on the premises at night and not go out: we enjoyed the open air Jacuzzi before being served, complete with candles, the food they ahd brought us, with no extra fee, from our chosen restaurant.

What we experienced at this place goes further than "value for money": if you go there, you will know what to do when checking out.

Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from a (far too short) week in Rhodes. After spending a few days in Lindos, we wanted a night in Symi (highly recommended), and after this we planned on spending our last two night in Rhodes Old Town.

To say that we had great service would be an understatement. Before we had even arrived, Alex (the Manager) was kind enough to meet us off the bus from Lindos and transport our bags to the hotel so that we wouldn't have to carry them all the way to Symi for our single night there - and this was before we had even checked into the hotel. On arrival in Rhodes the next day, Alex once again came and met us personally at the walls to the city in order to guide us to the hotel.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we found it to be a little oasis in a peaceful part of town and with a view of the wall to the old town. You could literally spend a morning reading in the tranquil garden before a days walking through the city.

Our room - the Grand Masters Suite - was impeccable. Definitely the nicest room we stayed in on the trip, and done to perfection. Our only suggestion would be to add a small fridge in order to have cold water at one's convenience.

However, the staff (especially Alex) of the hotel were wonderful and full of advice on where to go and what to do. The breakfast was ample and the lodgings fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Rhodes, and I hope one day to be able to visit it again.
