The location of this Boutique hotel is in the centre of the old city but distant from the crowds.Alex as one of the owners with his family, brothers and mother are hands on and take an active role in this special place daily.Breakfast is a treat with fresh fruit and produce daily. After a long day exploring the old city and surrounding towns this retreat provides a quite relaxing oasis for a quick dip in the Jacuzzi before settling down for a enjoyable drink. The history of the rooms and the hotel is mind blowing and the work completed by the family in restoring this gem is hard to comprehend and can be seen in the photos from start to now.You are treated as family with there knowledge and experienced past on to enhance your stay .A must stay in a busy city.

Our family of five travels a lot and I am the planner of the trips. Also when we are away I tend to be the problem solver, finding repairs for broken things, medicine when someone falls ill, special food when someone is craving a taste of home. At Spirit of the Knights in addition to beautiful accommodations in a perfect location on the quiet edge of the Old Town all the planning and organizing was taken out of my hands. Alex and the whole family organized taxis, car rentals, found special restaurants and directed us to shops to repair our electronics. My 3 boys could pick from a wide array of delicious breakfast items and the milkshakes made to order in the afternoon where delicious!! The Jacuzzi, the courtyard, the library, the rooms and the overall atmosphere made this a favourite for all of us on our 3 week trip to Greece. If we lived closer we would be back very soon to relax and spend time with everyone including Earl Grey and Pizza!! Many thanks to them all!! Splurge and stay at Spirit of the Knights!!

Room Tip: There is no bad room. Remember though you are staying in a medieval town though so this isn't a...

The knights left hundreds of years ago, but if they were still here, I have no doubt who the Grand Master would be. His name is Alex and he is the heart and soul of the Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel. If you are fortunate enough to go to this wonderful island and lucky enough to stay within its historic city walls, let Alex be your host at this luxurious, elegant, perfectly located property. He takes great pride in meeting and surpassing the expectations of every guest. Great accomodations and a serene outdoor space to relax and dine help to make this a memorable experience. Enjoy!

We were warmly welcomed by Alex, manager and owner. Alex and its staff were very friendly and caring through the whole stay. Great room (pasha, equipped with a cool private hammam), but do not expect stunning window view, great breakfast, great place (fully restored just a few years ago with a marvellous taste). Located within the walls, far from the noise of the busier streets, which are walk distance. Strongly recommended to experience Rhodes!

This really is a great boutique hotel, thoroughly deserving of its no. 1 ranking in Rhodes Town. My wife and I have now stayed here twice, and it just gets better. Every room is individual and beautifully fitted out, and extremely comfortable, the breakfast area is great, as are the breakfasts, there is a lovely bar area, a great lounge reading area on the first floor with plenty of books to choose from, all account for a truly unique experience in the heart of the Old Town. The Greek/English family who operate the hotel are caring without being intrusive, Alex, Kyle and Duncan will organise anything for you quickly and efficiently, and they genuinely look after you. When our taxi didn't show up to take us down to the ferry to Symi, Duncan who waited with us just in case this happened, then barrowed all our luggage the approx. 1 km. down to the port, enabling us to catch the ferry with 5 minutes to spare. We would have had a real issue without him. YOU DO NOT FORGET THAT SORT OF SERVICE. So be assured, you will not regret staying in this hotel, it is terrific.

Room Tip: because of the individuality of the rooms, you need to look at them individually on the website, and...

We stayed in this amazing heritage building / monument for 3 nights in July. I don’t have one criticism and so thought I would point out the positives!!!

• Alex met us promptly at the taxi drop off and took our luggage through the winding streets of magical Rhodes Old Town to the hotel –it’s indescribable how unique the old town is – it’s a must visit and for more than a day visit – three nights was a perfect time slot and allowed us to see the sites in a relaxed manner and soak up the ambience of this special location.
• The boutique hotel is immaculately preserved and contains museum pieces and antique furniture.
• We stayed in the Rodos Suite which had a separate living room for our daughter and the room was well appointed with hand-tiled bath and dark, wooden furniture, plus unique Murano-style blown-glass light fittings and lamps. It was a little small compared to modern day suites in hotels but it didn’t bother us given the special surroundings. We requested a fridge and this was brought separately and did look odd in the traditional surroundings and so I can understand why they aren’t standard in each room but obviously available if requested.
• Breakfasts are delicious – the hugest croissants – we ordered one each day and it fed three of us with homemade jams on the side! Cooked breakfasts were made to request, coffee was delicious, plus freshly squeezed orange juice. Also you must order the yoghurt with honey and fruit – simple but so well done – plump juicey fruit and delicious Greek honey.
• The outdoor space is done really well. Hotels within the walls of the town are not permitted to have swimming pools and so Spirit of the Knights has a cool-water Jacuzzi which is elegantly sculpted into the garden. The ambience is peaceful with lanterns and candles, yet welcoming, we didn’t feel self-conscious with a three year old. Breakfast also takes place around the garden and is just a lovely way to start the day!
• Alex is a super "front of house" – he is calm and informative. His recommendations for eating were spot on – Marco Polo Restaurant is a must – we went twice, and also Wonder is a good restaurant but in the new town and we just loved the old town and didn’t want to leave!
• Compared to other hotels in the Old Town – there is no doubt that Spirit of the Knights is expensive but as the title states – it’s worth every penny for this truly unique experience. The fusion of modern comforts in a building steeped in history provides for a great holiday!

Reviews on Trip Advisor sealed our desire to make a booking. After six nights and five days in the Pasha Suite we did not regret our decision. All the reviews ARE true – Brothers Alex and Kyle and the very effervescent brother in law, Duncan – have it nailed. Firstly with their perceptive and unobtrusive attention to guests’ needs. Add to that the sympathetic and tasteful restoration of the building itself, the fixtures inside and out - and the oasis like courtyard (I understand their mother/mother in law had a hand in the internal decoration and the garden), it really is quite special and magical. A haven from the bustling Old Town just a few steps from their front door and highly recommended if you are heading to Rhodes.

The reviews are true, it genuinely is an extremely peaceful, welcoming, smoothly run oasis in the Old Town and most deserving of its Trip Advisor ranking. The time and effort the family must put in behind the scenes to make it appear so seamless is worth mentioning. I can’t imagine, if we ever returned to Rhodes, that we would consider staying anywhere else. To be successful in the hotel industry you need to provide not just the foundation, but the continuing attention to detail and these three young Brits have, as I said, nailed it.

Don’t bother packing something to read – they have a Library area, well stocked, with a broad choice for guests to browse and borrow. Feel like a game of chess? All set up, ready and quietly waiting, just like the three Brits who run this charming boutique hotel. Thank you Alex, Kyle and Duncan. We have been left with many pleasant memories (and photographs) of our stay.

Room Tip: The Pasha Suite has its own hammam, loads of hanging space with more than sufficient hangers (you do...
