We stayed at Spirit of the Knights hotel for a week at the end of October 2013.
This is a unique and truly beautiful hotel, brimming with history, character and style.
In the building's re-birth as a hotel, much love and attention to detail has been given, with stunning results.
Alex Marshall, who is a truly delightful and charming host and for whom nothing is too much trouble, explained to us that it was his mother who embarked on this mammoth task of restoration and construction and showed us photographs taken during the project. What courage and vision!

We travelled back in time in the Ottoman suite . It was heaven to sink into the huge and supremely comfortable bed and look up in awe at the 600 year old beams.

The courtyard garden is such an oasis of calm in the bustle and heat of the Old Town and so perfect to relax in after a day's sightseeing. At night, the garden was lit with candles - the effect was quite magical.

We were spoilt for choice at breakfast, which was beautifully presented. The yoghurt, fruit and honey platter was particularly delectable, as were the giant-sized croissants!

Throughout our stay, the service from Alex, Carl and Duncan was impeccable. All in all. a truly wonderful and unforgettable week.

A perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the old town of Rhodes. We can't speak highly enough of the attention and assistance in all matters provided by Alex and his family members. From directions, restaurant recommendations and even online airline check in, to all the comforts of the hotel itself. These included beautiful breakfasts, gorgeous rooms with an upgrade to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, peaceful, spotless and atmospheric spaces. Thank you Alex!

The thoughtful care and consistency guarantees a peace-filled, calm experience. The design of Spirit of the Knights is aesthetically delightful, the family attending to their creation, always warm and helpful, anticipating one's comfort and needs. Well located in the old section of Rhodes Town, the primary spots of interest are easily found through the maze of ancient stone paths. It kept me wondering how such an oasis could have been constructed inside the challenges of space and the services the family needed to employ to complete this level of comfort for a traveling guest. Breakfasts are deliciously tailored to individual requirements and beautifully served in the green filled courtyard, bubbling water providing a musical backdrop.
I should not forget the spacious library - common room, a plus for a quiet read, and the lounge attached to the bar, also comfortable and soothing. When we had an unexpected emergency, Alex, Duncan and the rest of the family quickly provided an efficient remedy. A wistful thanks, RT

This small hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable with a lovely shaded courtyard. While very close to the Old Town and it's bustling activity it is in a very peaceful location. Alex and his family provide an unobtrusive service, but are always available if you require anything. Very worthy of their Trip Advisor status.

It appears other guests have beaten me to a review of this delightful sanctuary. Completely agree with all that's been said. Alex, Duncan and Carl will have swollen heads and rightly so. Their friendly and excellent service extended so far as to indulge my request to rescue a distraught feline from a first story window of an adjoining building at 10pm one night. The valiant Carl, who is tall, shimmied up the ladder as the gracious Duncan and I held on tight below. Voila. One rescued cat. Thanks guys from me and the cat who ungraciously disappeared into a doorway toute suite. Just one more thing. Thanks Duncan for the best cup of coffee at 4am the next morning as we waited for our taxi to the airport.
