My husband and I have just got back from Matina hotel, sadly ( we wish we could have stayed longer)... The hotel is exactly how it was described from booking.com. The hotel has great facilities, our room was cleaned and towels changed everyday, clean rooms with A/C as per our request, Monolis and his staff were very friendly and available. The staff made us feel very welcome and we had some great times chatting at the bar!! The pool is lovely although we spent most of the time at various beaches suggested by Sokratis who works there. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, about a 10 minutes walk from Faliraki town ( not noisy) , there is a lovely beach too in walking distance. We hired a bike for the first few days and then we hired a car to travel around some amazing beaches. All car and bike hire was done by Matina which is cheaper. We went to some great greek tavernas too..I suggest 'Nectar' the food is excellent and good value for money. All in all for what we paid our stay was more than we expected ..the only thing I would suggest is to make sure you book the rooms with A/C because the evenings are really hot. I hope to see Monolis and his family soon! we'll surely go back to Matina again.

My family and i have just from the matina and i must say we had a great time. Weather was extremly hot as we expected because we checked before we went away. Thats why you go isnt it? Hotel set back abit from the action which is fine if you want peace and quiet. Car with aircon a must as walking in heat although a short walk is a sweaty experience. A few english people but lots of loud italians.staff wiere nice because we where. We went half board and i must say breakfast wasnt my taste but more continental. Dinners were a choice of two dishes which were hit and miss. Rooms abit outdated but suffient. You wont be cooking a sunday a roast with the two cooking hotplates. Beds beware. Made of wood and my family stubbed their toes daily. The onsite shop is a convient option although some things were expensive. An earlier comment about english and italian kids breaking rules was not accurate. The eldest english child there was 12 i know because i met them all. The italians were in their late teens alittle more noisy but it is a mixed hotel for ages. No fighting and all nations their got on well. My only real complaint is no pool bar after 3 or 4 and no music playing so take your own. We had fun and got what we payed for. Go to the waterpark great value and take some shoes the ground will burn your feet. 10 euros their by taxi.buses are packed to the limits and its very hot on there. Remember heat makes you tired so plan wisely. Falaraki town busy and fun no where near what it was like. Bars offer cheap booze. Cheap fun and we all came home tanned. Thankyou matina and thankyou rhodes.

We were in Matina two weeks, the weather was burning hot hole time there. We shoud have a honeymoon, but we tought then to cange it to my husband´s birthdaytrip. The reason was, there wasn´t doublebeds, only two beds were put togeather. And between them was huge hole.

Staff was exellent. Voula was a little bit serious, but sometimes we get a smile too. Nikos was so polite and everything was "no problem", he was so wonderful! But I don´t know why the pool bar attendant was so unfriendly and rude for us? We asked for something cold to drink, so he has only bier and vodka, even there were lots of bottles there!!!

Swimming pool was wonderful. It was so big and clean. Sometimes there were peaceful, but when the Italian and English yougsters came, they didn´t care about pool´s rules.

One thing in the room was strange. When you wanted to go to toilet, the door opened inwards. The door took the door to the toilet luck and we had to infiltrate through the gap there. I was glad, I am not too fat for it.

The weather was hot those days, all times the temperature was close to 40℃. It was so wonderful to come in the room, when it was so cool. We didn´t needed almost at all clothes, my husband needed only three shirt, because we washed them in our kitchenette. In the balcony was a clothes line, so laundry dried up there soon.

The room was clean, even the toilet. I was hoping that tables would sometimes wiped, but it didn´t happend.

The holiday was still nice and funny.

Room Tip: The view to see and swimming pool was nice from our room. If it would be on the other side of corrid...

i stayed at matina with my girlfriend and we can both agree we had a great time! the hotel is owned by a very friendly and caring group of people! manolis, tzampika, spiros, socratis, voula and everyone else was so kind and helpful and just made us feel as comfortable as possible! our room was nice and the pool was perfect! there is also a very usefull mini-market in the hotel that offer a very good selection off products, essential for holidays. the bar is also very well priced and also offers a good selection :) would reccomend it to anyone visiting faliraki and is a good distance from the nightlife yet still peaceful and within a short walk from beautifull beaches!!

we wish them all the best!
love kostas and josephina (: xxxx

6 years ago ı found Matina tru internet and its been my home since than.Owner Manolis,Voula at the reception,Nikos everywhere and Michalis at the bar and all the rest of the staff make you feel nothing but you are at home. It's a wonderful family run apart hotel with a little kitchenette in the room where we prepare our breakfast and dinner sometimes if we are too tired to go out.The rooms are medium size but all have huge balconies where you enjoy sitting in the evenings.Swimming pool is very clean(ı get up early and watch it deeply cleaned every morning),deep , has lots of sun beds around and has a snack bar w good food. The beaches of Faliraki are 10-15 minutes walk and many guests go there which makes the pool area usually quite.Looking forward to be there again for 3 weeks soon.Thank you all making me feel at home.

For the price we paid for the 2 weeks HB we can't really complain.
Rooms are dated and very small, but we didn't expect luxury, you don't go on holiday to stay on the room. The only problem was cleanliness - yes, towels and linen were changed daily, but apart from the floor being swept almost every day, the bathroom was not cleaned at all, sink and the toilet were not touched within our 2 weeks stay.
Also food wasn't exceptional, especially breakfasts, which are the same every day. There is no air con or fans in the bar and the dining areas, it is soo unpleasant to sit there (we were in July when temperatures hit over 40 degrees some days).
Thats negatives. A big plus of this hotel is a very friendly staff, nice big pool and a location in a quiet part of Faliraki, only 10-15 mins walk from the beach and town. If you have a pool view room on the second floor, you can see the sea and the beautiful sunrises if you get up early enough :)
Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but on a self-catering basis, and not in July-August when it gets extremely hot and the bar and the restaurant areas are lacking in air con. Also walking to the room through boiling corridors without the air con was unbearable!
Be careful when booking with Hotels4u!!!! We made our booking in March when they advertised on the website that the air con is included in the price of the room. Upon check-in we've found out that we need to pay additional 70euro for the air con, cos in fact it wasn't included in the price. The hotel description on hotels4u website was also changed at the time we arrived in the hotel....We made a complain to them and still waiting for this to be resolved.

I stayed 10 days in Hotel Matina during a Wing Chun seminar held by EWCA (European Wing Chun Association) and I have to say I was not disappointed at all. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The food is very good whether it's at the restaurant or by the pool! There is a small convenient shop inside the hotel which is very useful. The hotel is at walking distance of Faliraki town as well as Anthony Quinn's bay which is a beautiful spot. I had an amazing time and would definitely go back next year!
