“Great hotel , Great staff , our best Greek holiday .”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

We stayed at the Matina from 30th of May 2012 to 13th June , i booked it with Asda holidays after finding it online and we wanted to go back to Rhodes again as it is our favourite Greek destination. After last years problems we had in Corfu (Elly beach hotel) i was still concerned about going but all the Matina's good reviews on here came good and the check-in was great , we were in our room almost instantly . Everything about the place was very clean , our room was perfect for what we paid and better than most others we've had on other holidays. The beds and pillows were very comfortable , the balcony large , very private and really quiet at night with a nice view inland . The fridge was ice-cold and we had all we needed to self-cater .
Sheets and towels are changed every day which is a bonus and we always had hot water , the air-con was good as well , it got up to 35 degrees in our second week so the 5 euro a night was well worth it . All the staff were so helpful and very friendly , thanks to Socrates , Voula , Manolis and everyone else at the Matina .
Outside the pool is spotlessly clean and nice and large with plenty of space around it . All the food we had from the pool bar was great , very good value as were the drinks , great frappe's , cold beer and the best cocktails . The chicken gyros pita at 2.70 euro is a must -have (thats only about £2 ) . The shop in the hotel is good also , you can get a bottle of wine for 3.50 euro and the same for 20 cigarettes if thats your thing ! The whole feel of the place is very laid-back and relaxed and you feel at home straight away . It is about 8-10 minutes easy flat walking to the beach , which you should go to as the sea is so clear ( 8 euro for 2 sunbeds and umbrella for the day) and the same to bars and restuarants , a couple of supermarkets are probably 5 minites walk . All the food we had in the local places was superb , Mario's by the harbour , Victoria on the beach and Pete's place up in Faliraki across the road and round the corner from the "asda" supermarket . If you want a taxi just ask at the desk and one will appear in what seemed to be aboout 2 minutes ha ha , Rhodes old-town was 18 euro each way but there were 4 of us so its not bad value considering your there so quickly . We will be going back to the Matina as soon as work and money will allow , having stayed in lots of Greek hotels this was by far the best for the money . You could pay a lot more and go all-inclusive but you get watered-down drinks, poor food and sleepless nights due to too many drunks etc , the Matina cost us for two weeks slightly less than an all-inclusive including our spending -money and for that your getting great food and drinks , great people , no loud drunks and peace and quiet etc at night and round the pool during the day . Can't wait to go back .
Matthew Ker .

Room Tip: I'd have a room upstairs as the balcony's are more private than those on the ground floor.

The hotel is very well run, and everything is very clean: the rooms, the hotel, the pool. The staff is great and very helpful... The food good and it was a pleasure to lounge around the pool. Our room was basic but very clean and fonctional, and we had a lovely view. The hotel position could not be better. In a quiet part of faliraki, near a little harbour and no more than 10 minutes walk from 2 lovely beaches. We also walked to Anthony Queen cove. It was breathtaking and took no more than 30 minutes. It was an easy walk and we are in our 60s. From the harbour, we took a ferryboat to Rhodes town. So much better by sea than by road. The old fortified town is well worth a visit. In the evening, the walk to the centre of Faliraki was about 25 minutes.
We would definitely not hesitate to go back to this hotel. One of the best we stayed in Greece...

I stayed in the Matina Hotel for a week from the 7th of June 2012 with other members of the European WingChun Association (EWCA) for our 10th International seminar and our 2nd at Matina. A short walk from 2 gorgeous beaches and with a well maintained pool and bar the hotel was a hit last year. As before the staff were very friendly and the relaxing family feel was much needed after the 3days of rigorous training. I think by the 3rd day the iced coffee Frappe was the only thing keeping me going! Very much looking forward to going back next year for more training and fun holidays!

My friend and i stayed here in may 10 2012. we have not stayed here b4 but i would stay again. The rooms are basic but clean and the staff are the best. Very friendly and went out there way to help. It was very quite here at this time but we had lovely weather and spent most of day by pool which was very clean.

I have just returned from spending a week in the Matina hotel self catering.
We had such a lovely time……….. Everyone is so friendly.
As other reviews have mentioned the rooms are a little dated but very cheap and clean. Cleaners come in everyday to tidy and change towels. Matina has different types of rooms from standard to deluxe. If you have a birthday or special occasion while you are away you can book the deluxe room for one or two nights direct with the hotel. I have seen the room myself and would defiantly recommend it.
The hotel itself is about a 15 mins walk from the centre of Falaraki but the beech/ harbour is only about 10 mins away. The harbour has some lovely bars and restaurant around if you want something a bit more Greek.
We went on a boat trip from the harbour to Lindos and another day took the bus to Rhodes town, both trips were amazing.
The people on reception are always happy to give advice and speak very good English.
We had a few meals at the pool bar and all of them were very tasty especially the coleslaw which they make fresh to order.
the pool / pool area was alway fresh and clean. plenty of sunbeds which is always a plus ++
We didn’t eat in the restaurant but heard people say it was nice food.
The hotel bar stays open till late and the bar man Michael is always there with a smile on his face ready to serve you.
I could go on forever but if you are reading this review and you want a lovely cheap holiday in the sun “get it booked” I will defiantly be returning very soon.........
Thank you Matina hotel.

I have just returned from a week self catering stay at the Matina hotel. The service was fantastic the staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The cheaper rooms are a little dated but they do offer more luxury rooms if you are willing to pay (you get what you pay for as the saying goes) however, the rooms are spotlessly clean and are cleaned daily and fresh towels are supplied, the same can be said for the outside pool area. The hotel is located a 15minute walk from several restaurant Manlios is a lovely little taverna with fantastic food at a great price if you want the real Greek dining experience. The hotel snack bar also offers great value tasty food and the hotel bar offers reasonable priced drinks and friendly atmosphere. Taxis cost 12euro return trip in and out of Faleraki centre if you don’t want to walk and you can catch a bus to Lindos or Rhodes town for 2.20euros each way if you fancy a bit of sight seeing. The week stay was a very pleasant one and I wouldn't hesitate to book with the Matina hotel again.

p.s during the stay a very friendly dog appeared, we named him Jack please take good care of him :)

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool are lovely when having a nice glass of wine on the balcony :)
