We where staying in the Old Town and we had rented a car when we visited this beach. It was recommended to us by local friends! There are actually two beaches really close to each other! When we went the first time we ended up at the 'wrong' one which wasnt bad anyway but not as impressive as we expected. On our way to the parking lot we saw that there was another beach on the other side of the cliff which was a lot nicer. We visited it properly the next day!!! (The fact that we made the effort meant that we liked what we saw!!). The beach is really good for snorkeling as there are plenty of rocks on the sea bed! Its very green - full of pine trees which is rather unusual for beaches in this part of the Aegean. Perharps the reason, me and my friends liked it is because beaches from the part of the world we come from are usually arid!!! There is a kiosk at the top of the cliff where you can buy snacks and drinks and fresh summer fruit (eg cold slices of watermelon). It was a really nice day out. If you stay in the old town and you are looking for a nice beach to go for a swim you might like this one!!! Have it in mind! Its about half an hours drive from the old town and the drive is interesting! Lindos is a lot better but a bit further way from the old town (around an hour away)!
The beach got its name from the famous actor Anthony Quinn, who loved Greece so much that, after filming The Guns of Navarone in Rhodes, he wanted to buy this bay!
