“Blue Sea - The Best!”
Reviewed October 18, 2010

I have stayed at the Blue Sea Hotel Rhodes many times. Although most websites address it as Faliraki I can assure anyone it is well away from that resort and situated in the Kallithiea/Epslon shopping area. Faliraki can be reached via the little train outside Epsilon Centre, a 15 min walk, or via taxi €8. The Hotel has always been good even before it was fully refurbished. Now fully altered and smartened up it is fabulous. Food excellent with lots of choice my only criticism would be if there for two weeks it can get repetitive but there is a choice. Restaurant staff helpful and friendly. As are the main bar staff Dimitri & George are professionals in the job remembering your drinks, names & if they have time, a chat. Pools x 2 and gardens relaxing and some trees if you require sun shade. Animation this and the last three years very good the team of two work very hard and the shows are entertaining. If you wish to partake games aqua aerobics, step etc are all available. There is a small gym and a indoor pool just in-case the pool hasn't warmed up at the start of the season. The reception staff could do with a welcoming smile they do seem a little miserable and for new guests my find them unwelcoming but I can assure you it`s smiles from then on!

the hotel was very clean the staff were excellent.food well cooked slightly repetitive but that is the case in most hotels.there was an outdoor dining area which was nice.two good outside pools and plenty of sunbeds and nice terraces.it was a hotel to suit all age groups.the only fault was the public toilets in the hotel were down a long flight of stairs or very steep ramps there was another toilet which was a long way from the terraces.

We stayed here from 18 Aug to 1 Sept 2010 as a family of four with young children. We were transferred to the Blue Sea when we arrived at the airport as our original hotel had been overbooked. After getting over the shock of being sent to Faliraki we quickly realised that this hotel was in the nice part and actually much closer to Kalithea.

LOCATION
The hotel is located on the ourskirts of Faliraki, closer to Kalithea. It is set back slightly from the road. The bus stop is a 5 min walk where you can buses to Rhodes Town and Faliraki. Price to Rhodes Town Two 2 Euros one way per adult and slightyl less to Faliraki. Next door to the hotel is a small shopping area with a variety of gift shops, cafes and supermarkets. A Cash machine is also located here although the hotel cashed 100 Euro Travellers Cheques for me taking 2 Euros commission which was worht it for the convenience. The Water Park is a 15 min walk away. There is a Car Hire desk in the hotel and the prices compared favourably with the car hire frim down the road. We used the hotel one and they were great.

CHECK IN
Check in process was a bit complicated because our voucher had a different hotel name on and we were just abandoned by the rep but we got it sroted eventually and after being sent to the wrong end of the hotel by one of the males on reception eventually found our room.

ROOM
The room was spacious and clean and had the following amentieis: flat screen telly, a phone, a built in safe which was huge, a fridge, aircon included in high season, nice bathroom with toiletries, double balcony as we had a family room, double bed, single bed and a very confortbal sofa bed. We did not have a Sea View but were in the main building right at the end so had no loud music or other disturbances. Room was 126. The only criticism I would make of the room was storage space i.e cupboards and such was a bit limited for four people, but that is only a minor niggle.

CLEANING OF ROOM
The room was cleaned 6 days out of 7 and towels would be changed every day if you wished. Beds were changed every two to three days. Cleaning staff ever so pleasant and obliging and they never stopped. They work so hard.

POOL AREA
The pools were fantastic. One main rectangle pool which is probably only 5 metres short of being a 25 metre pool and deep enough to dive at one end. One infity pool which flowed over into another pool lower down with waterfalls and other features. These two pools were surrounded by decking, sun loungers and palm trees. A truly lovely setting to lunge around in. There was also an indoor pool (about 10 to 15 m) and a jacuzzi / bath. The water in these felt cold but it probably had something to do with the 90 degree heat outside!!!

OTHER FACILITIES
The hotel also has a gym, mini market (reasonable prices), a fur shop, a hairdressers, a gym and beauty treatments place. I only used the mini market and found this to be reasonably priced and well stocked. Also there is a snack bar on the beach and the hotel has its own private sandy beach. There is a children's play park, football pitch and badminton court. My son loved the fotball pitch even in the 90 degree heat!!

ANIMATION TEAM
There is a Kids Club May to Sept which runs 10-12 and 1500 - 1700. They do a variety of activties, T-Shirt painting, arts and crafts, outdoor games, pirate day and treasure hunt etc. The Minin Club staff were superb as my kids don't usually do mini clubs but they loved this one. Special thanks to Zhivka and Georgia who run the club and speak about 5 different languages fluently. There is alos a mini disco every night from 2045 for 1 hr. The kids got a CD of the mjin disco and we have had to endure it since we got back many times!!!!!
Zhivka and Georgia are also part of the Animation Team which includes two guys. This team work 6 days a week and never stop whether it is water Gym, Aqua Aerobics, Pool Games, Darts competitions, Beach Parties, Show nights, Quizes. They are truly a fantastic bunch and always have a smile on their face and a kind word for everyone. There is no prssure to join in but if that is your thing then they will welcome you with open arms. They even had us singing the damn hotel song after the first week!!!

FOOD AND DRINK
We were all inclusive which didn;t end until we left the hotel and not when we checked out as is the norm in some establishments. The main hotel bar was slow to serve you and one of the bar staff in particualr was rather surly. The lady at the pool bar deserves a medal, she runs it on her own every day and is lovely. They need more staff at the pool bar as she is run off her feet and you can wait a while at busy times.

The food was execellent. I was rather worried that I would get bored being AI but can honestly say I didn;t although I couldnlt have done three weeks of it. All the food was well cooked with the exception of the beef whihc was a bit "hit and miss" and could be rather tough!! Breakfast was the full continental option and the english cooked options. Loads of cakes, pancakes, bread, cereal, salad type stuff, meats, cheese, fruits, eggs, bacon, sausages, beans tomatoes, you name it and it was there.
Lunch was salas stuff with hot options but no soup or bread. Dinner was the full monty Soup, bread, about 10 salad dishes, some of which varied each day some of which stayed the same. 7 to 8 hot dishes, one or 2 fish dishes, mixed grill usaully with pork, chicken and beef. Lots of veal dihses, a greek speciality or 1 and a pasta dish. Also there would be special cooked table which was doing either a dessert option or a pasta or savoury dish. Desserts were fresh fruit and then a select of very sweet cakes, ice cream, yoghurts and angel delight (I joke not!!!). Crepes with Liquer were cooked specially on a couple of occasions and these were to die for. The pasta was always cooked to perfection. Really couldn't fault the food or the restaurant staff.

GENERAL
The hotel is mainly occupied by Russians, Czechs, Greeks, and other continentals. Teh Brits are few and far between whichc actually suited us just fine. The only down side was the kids would have probably made more friends had there been more British kids there however they made lots of friends even though they couldn;t always speak the smae language!

IN SUMMARY
If you want a lovel hotel, right on a lovely beach, with great food and entertainment then this is the hotel for you. I would most certainly return again.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week. The place was wonderfully clean, the Hotel was absolutely gorgeous, and the cocktails served at the bar incredibly delicious. HOWEVER, this place felt very much like a family resort, possibly not the most ideal place for couples. There were events set up especially for kids and such, so if you are travelling with small children, this place is ideal. However, if you are a young group of people looking for some British banter, this is not the place for you. The hotel was filled with majority German customers, which I quite enjoyed, as it gave a detachment from the home life of Britain, though some people may find this a deterrent as they are looking to make friends from home.

What I mean by 'not very Greek,' is that the stretch that the resort was on went straight from 'Hotels' to 'British invades Faliraki.' The staff in the hotel were mostly Eastern European, therefore leading to a lack of Greek personalities and the typical Greek atmosphere you find on other Islands (while I'm here I recommend Kefalonia), and when you get past the Hotels and into Faliraki town, everything turns very British. So if you are looking for the Greek Culture, I do not recommend this place.

But if you're looking for a nice break in a beautiful hotel, then go for it. I forgot to mention also, the swimming pools are gorgeous!

The hotel is of a decent quality and cleanliness, the food is okay as it's the first time I've managed to eat all week at a hotel without feeling like a 'groundhog day' at meal times, varied and as much as you can eat.
Its a short walk to Falaraki and to be honest I made it only twice and the second time was only to check if the place was as dingy as I thought the first time, aye first impressions are usually correct as it's past whatever it's best was and it's in dire need of makeover.
Rhodes Town is a short bus ride and worth a visit if your into shopping and a bit of culture with the old town being surprisingly large and habitated, a nice wee port.
Take the trip to Lindos as it a lovely wee place and the walk to the Acropolis is worth it.

We have just returned from spending a very enjoyable holiday at The Blue Sea Beach Hotel in Rhodes. The hotel is situated in the North of Faliraki in a picturesque and quiet location and only a short distance from the very attractive Kalithea Springs.
Buses run from close to the hotel into both Rhodes Town and also to Faliraki and Lindos Town.
We had a room with a full sea view which afforded stunning views.
The rooms are pleasantly furnished and very clean. Adequate supply of toiletries are available in the ensuite bathroom. Towels and toiletries are replenished daily or as required. On most days the rooms had been made up before lunchtime.
A good selection of shops and restaurants are also available within 50 metres of the hotel. A childrens entertainment complex is also within a short distance of the hotel.
The hotel also has much to entertain children within its own grounds.
We found the hotels staff all extremely friendly and always willing to offer help and advice when required. We found visits to Rhodes Town and Lindos Town with its Acropolis extremely interesting. A vist to Kalithea Springs is strongly recommended as being one of the highlights of our holiday. In addition we would also recommend taking the ferry over to the picturesque Island of Symi with adequate time to look round the town before the ferry leaves and calls at the monastery in Panormitis before retuning to Rhodes Town.
A little Road Train runs from outside the hotel into Faliraki and also to Kalithea Springs.
Food in the hotels restaurant is quite good although we did find the dishes a little repetitive. This hotel is ideal if you wish to have a pleasant holiday and are happy with the entertainment provided mainly by the hotels Animation Team.

This hotel is absolutely great 4 -star hotel, worth every cent spent there. The rooms are spacious, basically furnished but very clean, with a nice terrace where you can sit and enjoy sea view if you are on the side overloooking the sea. The food is great - tasty, delicious, so many various dishes for all tastes. Restaurant has a terrace overlooking the sea, very romantic at dinner time. Everything in the hotel is spacious and very nice, there are three swimming pools with animation activities - aqua aerobic, children's activities etc. There are trees around and it is very green. Hotel has a great location - at the sandy beach with very clear, clean, calm and warm sea. A bus station with regular connection to the town of Rhodes in one, and Lindos in another direction is only 50 meters from the hotel. If you prefer to explore the island on your own, the best is to rent a car (you can park a car for free in front of the hotel) and there are great beaches only 5-10 min driving from the hotel, some of them sandy and the others pebbly or rocky - for everyone's taste. Also, Rhodes' water (aqua) park is located only few minutes from the hotel. If you travel with children, there are animation activities for children at the hotel. The hotel also has a spa centre, but we did not use their services so I cannot tell you more about it.
Faliraki is a great location because the sea is very calm, clear and warm and it is easy to reach the town of Rhodes or any other spot at the island (and there are many interesting spots to visit).
In summary, excellent four star hotel at the great location, which would visit again and reccomend.
