“Vero good everything except food”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

I stayed 1 week during summer holidays. The place is really great and big. It's like a classic resort like Club Mediterranee style: 2 big pools, places to eat and the beach is right on the front the hotel. I recommend to stay at blue sea and not the blue star which is in the front but from the other side of the main st.
I was with my boyfriend in a room front sea, very nice, quite and clean. And from our room we were very close to the restaurant.
The only problem was the food, they didn't vary a lot during the week and sometimes they served things not so common for an international restaurant like for example liver....

Despite the food I surely recommend this hotel, it is near Faliraki (stay at Faliraki center only if you are tennagers otherwise you will suffer for the noise) and in 30' you can reach the city center of Rodhes by bus with only 4 euros.

Room Tip: Bluesea in front of the sea othèrwise your view will be the main street of Rhode

Dear valued guest.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor as well as for your superb review.

We are delighted to hear that you had a relaxing holiday in Blue Sea Beach Resort and would like to warmly thank you for all the positive comments especially the ones about the Superior Sea View room.

We understand that the food is something very subjective and a matter of personal taste and feel sorry, to read that your expectations for the variety of the meals have not always been met.We are in the process of restructuring the entire food concept of the Blue Sea Beach Resort.

Our scope is to broaden the choices of our guests in the real Greek Mediterranean food, which is the epitome of healthy and delicious food. Your comments about the liver are not so clear, because the grilled liver is in our menu as a first course and not as a main course.

We take all comments very seriously and would like to assure you that your comments have now been brought to our Chef's attention for further evaluation.

Once again, thank you for your comments as well as for recommending our resort. We very much hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back in the Blue Sea Beach Resort should your future travel plans call for a trip to sunny Rhodes.

Best Regards

We were accomodated in the neighbouring Blue Star hotel but for dining, swimming and other activities we were using just this wonderful hotel. It has no mistake and I would like to recommend it to everybody who wants to spend in Faliraki a nice holiday.

Returned from two weeks holiday with my wife in October 2012.The weather was fantastic.
Pleasant hotel, very clean and the buffet meals provided were very good. All the staff were excellent and our sea-view room was lovely.
The holiday was booked through Saga as an 'all-inclusive' package but that did not turn out to be the case. The 'free drinks' were only available as a self-service option in the Saga lounge, to be fair as advertised in the Saga brochure when we booked.
Now, if you like a glass of froth when attempting to obtain a beer (of very poor quality),quite often a glass of water when expecting orange juice from the dispenser and the frequent absence of the plastic glasses for use around the pool area then this is the place for you. The lounge was, for the most part, very hot and stuffy due to the lack of any air conditioning and, apart from the cleaning lady, nobody from the hotel seemed interested in maintaining the 'bar'.
The only way to achieve a reasonable drink was to buy one elsewhere. That does not constitute 'all-inclusive' and the words should be deleted from the Saga brochure.
The weather was unseasonably hot for October yet the hotel had turned off the air conditioning in the bedrooms the day before we arrived. The excellent Saga representative was unable to alter this and eventually we asked for, and were provided with, an electric fan which was of very limited use due to the presence of only one electric socket in the room. This meant that it was possible to use the fan OR the mosquito tablet burner, NOT BOTH! Some guests resorted to leaving the door to the balcony open at night and were badly mosquito-bitten.
A pity, because we liked the hotel in many ways but would not go again due to this lack of care and certainly not with Saga again as we feel they mislead us and should not have booked guests into a hotel with no air conditioning in the bedrooms.

Dear valued guest,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience during your recent stay in Blue Sea Beach Resort.

Also, thank you for highlighting the Sea view room provided and the excellence of the staff.Rest assured that your generous comments will be brought to all of the Blue Sea team attention, as it is the greatest reward.

The hotel is supported with clima temperature control system. To this effect, the room’s temp.is managed electronically adjusting the outside temp.to room’s temp.We provided fans to any of the guests asked for it.We also provided mosquito table burners and the problem you mention, could be resolved with a multiplug (available at the front desk).

Choise had been given to our Saga guests during October,to get their drinks from the main bar as the pool bar was closed for two days, due to weather conditions(rain).

Once again, we would like to warmly thank you for your review and very much hope that perhaps, you might reconsider and return to our resort at some point in the future.

After thorough searching through this site and others, we decided to book a side sea view to this hotel, via our travel agent. When we got there we were offered a ground floor room, not at all as the one we booked. They called it a "family room" and it was obviously not refurbished as the other rooms in the hotel. It wasn't even side sea view, but directly facing the pool. The plinth was missing all around the floor, but the nails were left in place, so if you brushed your foot against them, tough luck! There was a rust spot on the window curtain, the veneer on the bottom part of the old furniture was chipped out, and the next morning I even killed a cockroach in the bathroom. Of course, I went to the reception and asked them to give me a room that I have paid for. The clerk said the only spare room will be available 2 days later. So I called the representative of the Greek travel agency that was partner with ours, and she said she will help me the next day, since it was too late by 4:20 (when I called her) because the hotel manager finishes his/her working day by 2 or so. So, we spent the first night there, and the next day the Greek partner representative told us we will be moved to Palladium. Then one clerk and one cleaning lady showed up to our door when they heard we will move, to see what the problem was. After showing them all the issues, the clerk told me that "actually we got an upgrade in that room for it was a family not a double". I really don't think this is funny, but rather she was pulling my leg. This being said we proceeded to moving, and when we got to the lobby they handed us a disclaimer note by which we had to acknowledge that we moved at our own freewill (no reason was specified) and that we waived any claim towards the hotel. I signed it and moved to 5 stars Palladium for the same money. Apart from this issue, the food was very nice, plentiful, and the personnel pretty kind. On the down side, there were lots of Russians, like an invasion, who lacked manners altogether, they came down for dinner in shorts, they all had small, noisy kids, but that is not the hotel's fault and it's anther subject matter. Bottom line: Beware of double booking since we are not the only ones to experience this (the owner of the car rental company we booked our car from said he's heard this is common practice at the Blue Sea).

Room Tip: I can't give you any advice. Whatever you book, chances are you will get a room like ours, or wo...

Dear valued guest,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for all the constructive comments concerning our beautiful resort.

We are happy to hear that you liked the food and the hotel’s services along the line.

Out of the 318 rooms of our hotel, there are very few of them which will be entirely refurbished at theend of the season. During the season we do not proceed to any maintenance works in order to avoid possible disturbance to our guests. Of course, specific shortcomings like the ones you mention in your comments are not excusable and we definitely feel sorry for that. We would immediately have fixed them, should we had been notified, right after you noticed them.

The front office manager on her own initiative, booked you in the hotel Palladium(5 stars hotel)and took over the surgharge aiming to satisfy you, inspite the fact that the room in the Blue Sea Beach Resort you were assigned is a sea view room, located in one of the most wonderful spots of the hotel’s premises. .

Once again thank you for your feedback and positive comments made about the resort’s food quality and variety as well as, highlighting the kindness of the personnel.

We very much hope that you might consider visiting us again should your future travel plans call for a trip to Rhodes.

Best Regards,

I travelled with my boyfriend in August for 4 days in All inclusive. Even though the hotel was full, the employees were very friendly and welcoming! We stayed in the main building, in a room with breathtaking sea view. I absolutely recommend it for Greek travellers. Great atmosphere, great staff, great location!

On checking , I was a bit apprehensive as on beach hols we generally like to stay in a hotel whic had beach bungalows. But when we went to our room which was at the end of the corridor I was put at ease. The rooms are quite spacious, nice large balconies which had a fab view of the sea, pools and the day time activities. Enough space in the 2 wardrobes for our family. Housekeeping was good and the ladies were cheerful. Lovely restaurant and Christos as the restaurant always tried and encouraged my younger son to eat. Before travelling we checked to see if the hotel could provide soya milk/ yoghurt for my older son who has allergies and the they very willingly provided for the same. Theo every evening used to advise me what my son could or could not eat because of the milk./butter issue. Food for breakfast was okay, dinner was better they had more choice and variety. You had all kinds of food, typcial greek, pastas, lots of grilled meat, bolognese etc However I was quite surprised in both the hotels that we stayed in Rhodes this time there was not much of a selection of fish, which was disappointing and even when they did have grilled fish there was no flavours to it.

Since we were a family, we were given one double bed, 1 single bed and the semmed a bit larger to be a single bed with the result my 2 children aged 8 and 2 years slept together.

The best part of the hotel that I enjoyed were its pools. Lovely pools and enough sun beds, which are available at any time of the day or evening. My children and I enjoyed the jacuzzi too as when it got too hot we would go to the indoor pool and jacuzzi. The beach was nice too, bit pebbly towards the end but there is sand in the sea as compared to Kiotari where when you enter the sea and for some time there are pebbles.

Childrens evening entertainment was not great. THe lady needs to buck up on the disco. Had a varierty of nightly entertainment including beach parties. BUt we were never disturbed with the noise etc.

Theres a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you to Rodos, Faliraki main bustling aread or even Lindos and Kiotari.

Sophia at the Reservations was brilliant and ever so helpful.

Overall we had a fab stay at Blue Sea and would definitely recommend it. I am a travel consultant and to please me is very difficult. The only thing is the hotel needs to improve its breakfast variety. We were at the hotel on half board basis.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 3rd floor above the restaurant which had a fab view. We were not disturbed at a...
