We first stayed in the Orion for 2 weeks in July 2001 just after the property was opened and everything about it was great ! We have just returned from our 2nd stay at the Orion (Aug 17th-31st 2011)
and what can i say the property has been well maintained and is kept spotlessly clean. The food and drinks in the pool bar are great, Orion cocktails are especially good!!
Maria,George,Paul and Michael are working in the pool bar this year.
Pool bar is open from 9 am till late (Usually until the last person leaves)
Serving Breakfasts, snacks and a selection of Greek and International dishes.
The English breakfasts are lovely,i tackled a few on my 2 week stay.
Orion Restaurant has new additions since our last visit ,they have a new Bar
and new outside decking area at the bottom of the restaurant for dining Alfresco.
Open from 0800-2330 Kyriakos aka (Charlie), Zoe,Paul+Maria are working the restaurant this year. The food and drinks here are great, they even have Strongbow cider on draught which was a welcome sight when we first arrived in 30+ degrees let me tell you.
Friendly staff, good atmosphere, wide selection of cuisines, great quality .
Good value for money !!!
I asked would it be possible to have Greek style potatoes as they where not on the menu,Charlie got the chef to make them specially for us the following evening and they where worth the wait mmmmmh.. I can still taste them !!! oh and you have to try their Apple pie+ice cream (best i've ever tasted !) Orion Mixed grill was my favourite it was massive.
"No problem" is the family saying whenever you ask for something .
We where sad to leave, we both wanted to stay longer.
Until next year ....

Hope this review helps others enjoy the Papageorgiou family Hospitality as we always do.

Overall the hotel was good, basic but clean and you get what you pay for. The rooms were simple, but cool and clean. The self catering title or the room however meant little more than a hob that didn't work and very minimal and random cooking utensils and no overn, so cooking a meal was not an option. Didn't ruin the holiday tho - there's plent of decent cheap places to eat. The pool bar at the hotel was very god value for money and the woman running it was lovely - although never actually tried the Orion restaurant. The hotel is in a good location - supermarket 20 metres away, beach also not far and the strip of bars very close, with Bar Street (the main strip) within easy walking distance. Always enough sunbeds and a decent size pool, even with all the bar workers that hang out there during a day. If your're on a couple or mates holiday, I would definately reccomend.

Room Tip: Apparently the hobs on the cookers work if you have a ground floor room.

I have spent 1 week here with my boyfriend, and this was one of my best holidays ever.

We have not spent many time in the hotel, but we have been very satisfied with it. Our studio was in the second building, the balcony was overlooking the garden, there was not much noise, except when the drunk English 16 years old boys and girls have walked on the street shouting at 5 am. I cannot really understand English people: how can they let their children go for a holiday with no adults at all at the age of 16?? But this is not connected to the review.

ROOM
It was big and clean, the bathroom was recently renovated. The cleaning lady came everyday to change the towels, take the rubbish away and she usually changed the bed linen as well. The kitchen was equipped with the basic things, the refrigerator worked very well. We have paid for the airconditioning, it was switched on immediately after we paid, and it was very silent.

FOOD
The hotel has its own restaurant: big and airconditioned, with fair prices. We have not tried it, and we have not even had breakfast there, but it is good, as I have read in the previous reviews.

BEACH AND POOL
The beach is about 10mins of walking, sandy, shallow water, really nice. You can rent 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for 8 euros, but it is not obligatory.
The pool seemed clean and warm, we have not tried.

To summarise, I would recommend this hotel for young couples, who want to stay in a nice small aparthotel, close to Faliraki center, but at a quiet surroundings. It is an ideal place from where you can explore the whole island even by car, bus or motorbike.

p.s: it is highly recommended to go to Rhodes city, Lindos and to the nice sandy beached south from Faliraki.

Stayed here July 2011 - what a lovely place. The staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. Our room was lovely, spotless with good shower and large balcony. All rooms are basic in greek islands but this had tv & hairdryer plus kettle, fridge, sink /cooking rings. Air conditioning is not as strong as you would like but everything else was great. The pool is lovely and the whole place is beautifully maintained. Can't say enough about staff, especially Maria in pool bar who goes out of her way to make you feel looked after. Great food with plenty of choice. Close to beach and to shops and bars but far enough away for quiet nights sleep. We will be back!

Room Tip: Garden rooms in rear building quieter but even by pool once balcony doors closed you cannot hear any...

I am sat awaiting my coach transfer to airport and thought I would use some time to write this, after living in faliraki and having seen most of the properties here I can honestly say this is one of the best. The rooms are pretty basic but what else would they be? They have a bath with shower and decent size balconys. The pool is very big and clean, the location is great and the staff are brilliant. The Orion restaurant is really good and serves a wide variety of food including Greek and English. I am coming back in July and will be staying here again!
