This hotel simply is your home away from home. Brother and sister run this family business and they go all the way to give you the best possible stay. Their personal touch, their dedication to go all the way to exceed your expectations are impressive. The hotel is very comfortable, the rooms are fantastic. The location is perfect - nearly on the beach at Perivolos/Perissa. The beach is hip/happening but also quiet and laid back. You can pick your very cool beach club to hang out, or a more traditional place.
At the hotel they can give you great tips on what to do on the island and they will arrange it in the most perfect way.
Even if you do not have a car, you can visit Fyra and Oia easily by bus. They go regularly and are very reliable.
Around the hotel there are numerous restaurants, pubs and clubs. As said earlier - enough to do but it doesn't get too crazy.
At the reception you can get towels for the pool area or to take to the beach. Great service, right?

Stayed for 4 nights and pleasantly welcomed by Maria and her staff. Room had double bed, good air conditioner, both indoor and outdoor dining table and chairs, small kitchenette with cutlery, some cookware and a hob. Very cute studio style villa, TV has English language channels. Cleaned daily.
Pool area has plenty of sunbeds, friendly bar tenders and an all round good atmosphere amongst staff and guests.
Lots of nearby places to eat/drink, supermarket has free transfer shuttle and highly recommend the bakery next door to co-op supermarket.
Also recommend a visit to the nearby tavern Charlina, great food, reasonable price.
Would definitely stay here again.

We were impressed by the friendliness and great service by Smaragdi Hotel! From arranging to bring us the rental motorbike to the hotel, free beach towels, pick-up/transfer transportation, to a "welcome meeting" (to introduce the hotel and Santorini island and to discuss Greek food / santorini sites recommendations) and the friendly faces and smiles from the staff, we always feel welcomed and comfortable while staying there.

The swimming pool was great chill-out spot when we wanted to take a quick break from driving around to various beaches, and the hotel provided satellite TV and good WIFI. The rooms are reasonably-sized with a small kitchen and they are very clean.

The hotel is located a few minutes walk from Perivolos beach (which has a lot of restaurants) and we can even walk to Perissa beach from there. Despite its not in Fira / Oia, traveling there on a motorbike was relatively easy and not too long (~30-45min).

Smaragdi hotel is definitely good-value-for-money and we would recommend it to our friends who are looking for a budget but nice place to stay.

Great small hotel apartment complex, very attentive, clean, friendly relaxed. Pool clean and pool bar but only serves food until 3.00 pm. Quite location close to beach suites families definitely not a party spot. Beach bars are average, friendly and clean. All as expected for a great Greek holiday. More grown up and relaxed than party places like lagana Zante. Sea is not as clear as Ionian but still beautiful. Again plenty of space at beach, not hassled. Very very quite for August prob due to Greek adverse publicity on economy. That suites me.

I stayed here for 3 relaxing days. I ended up picking to do a few nights on the beach and a few nights in the caldera and was happy with the choice. The hotel is really in Perivolos and is a stone's throw to the famous black beach. You can also just take a left and walk into Perissa - also super close with more of the same - lots of restaurants with sunbed options on the beach. Perissa is cute because the "main" beach road closes down to cars in the evening and is pedestrian only.

I picked the deluxe studio, which had plenty of space, a newly done bathroom, and a nice balcony. I added on the breakfast for 8€. It was fine - toast, yogurt, a couple kinds of eggs. It was a basic buffet - nothing exciting. All in, it came to 100€ a night, which is a great summer time price.

The staff was helpful and welcoming. Everyone was genuinely interested in ensuring the stay was going well.

I found the numerous wifi connections to be great.

I would most likely recommend this hotel to families with younger kids. That's at least the vibe I had during my stay. As an FYI, the pool is smaller than in the professional photos. Also, the pool is run by the 10 and under set, particularly in the late afternoon.

Overall, this is a solid deal down by the beach and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Some of these rooms have multiple sets of steps to get to them... If you have young kids, you may wa...

Due to last minute planning we were only able to spend one night on Santorini, arriving in the morning, and leaving after midnight the next night. We found a very reasonably priced suite at the Smaragdi, and our experience there was fantastic! It started with a complementary pickup from the port, which was so nice after a night on the ferry with 3 kids. Our suite was great--clean, spacious, comfortable beds, great shower, kitchenette. The kids loved the pool-- the staff was very accommodating with towels, and there were lots of comfortable tables and lounges. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach and restaurants, and 5 minutes to a small grocery store and the bus to Fira. But what really made our trip was the amazingly kind and helpful attitude of Maria and the staff. They really understand what it's like to travel. They could not have been nicer about offering for us to use the hotel facilities after we checked out, until almost midnight, leaving our luggage, offering us towels if we wanted to swim or shower (they have a couple of shower rooms for that purpose), setting up our taxi, making sure we got off okay, insisting we call with any problems or questions any time throughout the day or night. I can't imagine a better base for the time we had there. I would definitely go there again if we ever find ourselves back on Santorini.

We wanted a place on the beach without paying for a place on the beach, and you can definitely find this here. It was a short walk to the black sand beach and a quick bus to Fira. The staff were so friendly and kind we felt leaving like we were family. The rooms were clean, cool and a great size. We stayed in the petit room and it met our needs. The pool was clean. The breakfasts were good. The driver, John, that picked us up from the ferry was great. Maria at the front desk was soooo helpful, friendly and kind. They helped us with navigating all the restaurants, bus schedules and planning activities. I was concerned at first about leaving my luggage out in the open after check out but there were so many staff it was safe and protected. I am so glad we stayed there and will absolutely be back.

Room Tip: We booked the petit room and it had a queen bed, a good sized kitchenette, washroom, fridge, safe, a...
