very hot -stayed her 26th august for a week. room very basic - like all greece really - but comfortable. air con was a neccessity. cleaners every day did a reasonable job, rooms just need a little bit of tlc from george (owner), however he never seems to have any free time. we asked for extra pillows and got the same day tho, one thing you do need to bring is a kettle !! we missed ours badly and it takes for ever to boil up water . thats all we do in the way of 'self catering' when we are away . perissa - was okay, just glad we didnt go any earlier in season as would have been too busy! would recommend the trip ' simply santorini' - it was a lovely day, and 'fira' is defo worth going to visit;
all in all a good week away.

This was the second year running that my wife and I had stayed at Phevos Villa, (previous two years were spent at other places in Perissa which did not compare at all to Phevos). The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis which other establishments do not do, nor do the majority provide a safety deposit box in your room FOC, a valuable asset. The hosts Georgio and Anna were excellent, always willing to go the extra mile to please. Whilst the cooking facilities were basic, to eat out in Perissa or Perivolos could be done for 18 to 20 euros per couple for a three course meal with a 1/2 carafe of wine. There was an ample supply of hot water throughout the day, something which is not always available at other establishments.
The swimming pool was excellent, always clean as was the area around the bar.

Phevos Villa was perfect for us .The room was cleaned every day by a lovely cheerful lady .The facilities were all in working order and yes we took advantage of the air con at 6 euros a day it was windy outside but very hot even at night.The lunch time tomatoe salads we had were delicious and the pool was very clean we always found sun beds and as previously mentioned by another reviewer our hosts were just right friendly but never intrusive.There are lots of paperbacks lined up by the pool to read and we cant fault the beautiful surroundings.The walk back from the tavernas is just the right length under the stars in front of a mountain back drop.
I arrived stressed out and tired and I left a very different person!.

This Phevos Hotel has comfortable rooms, a small bathroom with a hand held shower, The rooms are adequate, they do have kettles and a fridge, the cooking ring is a bit small, but who needs to cook? we never paid more that 30 euros for a meal with at least two rounds of drinks, you just have to look around. The pool is beautiful, its not huge but 20 people can swim at once, (its only a small hotel you are not going to get an olympic size pool now are you? and for the seasoned travellor how many of us believe what they see in a travel brochure?) it is located just a short walk from the town and the beach, for those travellers who holiday regularily in Greece then you know that you are not going to get 5* luxury. The Phevos is set is a beautiful location & is managed by Giorge & Anna with their two beautiful children. The menu is not huge however Giorge does a mean Greek salad, which is even better when he uses his home grown tomatos & cucumbers. The bar prices are what you would expect, 3 euros for a beer & 4 for a short (beware the shots of alcohol they are lethal, I had a number of whiskies went to bed at 4am, and couldnt move for 2 days) we met some fab people & had some great nights. The 24 hour bakery is out of this world, the bread & cakes are to die for. The beach is black volcanic sand & it gets exceptionally hot. Getting into the sea can be treacherous as the volcanic rock at Perissa is covered in algae, so my husband highly recommends the beach shoes with the rubber 'knobbly' soles. Get the taxi boat round to Kamari its worth getting wet for. We will definately be going back to the Phevos next June. Jammas

We spent a week in Santorini in June 2009 and stayed at Phevos villas. We were unsure what to expect after reading the reviews but we needn't have worried as Phevos was everything we hoped it would be.
We stayed in room 10 - a ground floor room with a large balcony - twin beds, small kitchen area with kettle, fridge, cooking ring and cupboards - lovely bathroom, (best we have had in Greece) well tiled - shower tray had a curtain and the hand held shower had good pressure. We chose to pay for air conditioning - it was 6 euros per day and well worth it. The apartment was cleaned daily, clean towels daily and bed linen changed at least 3 times a week.
The pool was large with a jacuzzi at one end, lots of sun loungers - never busy, sometimes we had the pool to ourselves!
Pool bar served snacks - toasties for 1 euro 50, greek salad etc
George and Anna, the owners were always available if you needed them but were never 'in your face'.
The location is quiet, away from the main centre, into the village - there are views of Mesa Vouno mountain from the pool area and Katefiani church - really relaxing!
There is a small taverna within 2 minutes walk (The Ancient Thira), a small supermarket less than 5 mins walk and a 24 hour bakery about 5 mins walk.
Our favourite restaurants were Acropolis, Volcano and gods Garden - but there are lots to choose from.
We visited Ancient Thira on top of Mesa Vouno - we took the plunge and decided to 'do the walk.' Don't believe people who tell you it only takes an hour and isn't strenuous - it only takes an hour if you are an olympic athlete and some parts are quite a climb - but it is worth it for the views on the way up over Perissa and the views at the top. Stunning!
Oia, Fira and Imerovigli are worth a visit for the views of the Caldera and of the white buildings that seem to be 'tumbling' down the cliffs.
Emporio village is also worth seeing - very peaceful with pretty buildings, very narrow streets and churches.

We loved Santorini and Phevos - wish we had stayed for 2 weeks - if we return Phevos is the only place we would stay.
