“Friendly, relaxing, affordable!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

My husband and I stayed at Mark & Joanna Studios for 3 nights in July 2013. Anastasia, the owner, is friendly, gracious, welcoming. Our studio was clean and simple. No breakfast is provided, but at Perissa Beach a short walk away, there are many tavernas that serve great breakfast. Need a car or other transportation to get anywhere around Santorini from Perissa, but that also means your night is quiet and peaceful, with only occasional sounds of church bells. A great choice for a super affordable, quiet stay near one of the best beaches on Santorini.

Stayed at Mark and Joanna for a week in September. The location is good, there's an amazing bakery at walking distance from the hotel. It's a family business little hotel. The owners are very friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere. It's simple decorated, nothing too fancy, but it's clean and cosy. We had a lovely little terrace out our bedroom, and the fridge in the room is very handy. Lots of little shops around.
The pool is tiny, but the sea in the island is so beautiful that we didn't care, we never use the pool when we are on holiday so it wasn't a big deal at all for us.
We rent a car nearby the hotel as well and we loved it, highly recommended, it's the perfect option to explore the island.
Overall experience, pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with terrace on the first floor.

These quiet studios are so lovely for a relaxing break , You may hear the sound of church bells and chanting from the chapel next door but this just reminds you are priveliged to be sharing a wonderful culture.
The pool is literally a splash pool but ideal for cooling down in.

The daily cleaning and fresh linen and towels is a lovely surprise for a budget apt.
The staff are very friendly and accommadated us when a member of our party was injured and allowed us to hold a birthday party for her under the terrace that evening. God's garden rest delivered a meal for 10 people with no problem.

We were in room 19 which was perfect for our needs, a room with a view.
The others in our party also had great rooms all with different features.

While we were there a Cretan violinist was staying in room 18 and was often heard to rehearse from his balcony. Very haunting.

A steep walk back from the town in the heat but not far enough to require transport.

Water park still a great day out and a nice change from the beach. 7euros with slides and 5euros for pool and entrance, Good cheap food and drink available and delivered to your lounger with a smile. Toilets very clean also.

Many good restaurants, look out forr 3 course meals for 2 with wine for 18 euros!
Volcano, Gods garden and Aquarius all our favourites, catering for all tastes.

Soul bar and Magic bus friendly bars as where most places , plenty to choose from!

Water taxi to Kamari worth the visit and still only 3 euros, just make sure you get the last one back, check with driver as times vary, prob not a good idea on a windy day.

Local bus to Thira from outside Magic Bus bar 2 euros each way, Good idea to go early in the morning before cruise ship passengers arrive,

Bakery at bottom of the hill open 24hrs and very good.

we are sure whoever visits Mark and Joannas will have a lovely experience.

We stayed at the Mark and Joanna Studios in Perissa from June 2 to June 16. The apartments are situated at the back of the resort close to the path to Ancient Thira and under the little church that sits part way up the rock. This was ideal for us at it was quiet and about a 10 min walk to the town and beach.
At first site our room in the accommodation seemed rather small and lacking in natural light (we were in room 16) but hey we were only going to sleep in the room. One room had a double bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet and dressing table. There was aircon, TV and a hair drier (we did not use the aircon, fee payable). Space was so tight that the TV was on a bracket up high. Off was a small kitchen with small window, cupboard, fridge, two ring hot plate, coffee maker (no kettle) and half size table and two chairs. We did not cook as we always eat out just having a simple breakfast. Knives seemed a bit odd and limited for eating. I think that you would struggle to have space to eat anywhere inside in this accommodation. Off this was a bath room with again a half sized shower, full width but half deep, my shoulders would not fit across without touching the wall and curtain. Again a half size hand wash basin but a full size toilet! Outside (actually at the top of the access steps) were two chairs a table and a clothes hanger/drier.
The fridge comes stocked with juice, beer, water etc with one bottle of water free the rest you pat for as you use it.
We saw inside one other room(s) and this was what you would expect to be and a normal size so perhaps we were just unlucky.
The towels and sheets were changed about every 3 days and it was very clean.
Some of that sounds rather negative but in fact it is a very friendly place and the owners(?) were very helpful and we did not ask to be moved because it just got to feel like home (we are very adaptable!).
There is a small swimming pool which was very nice just to have a dip after the walk back from the beach.
I can not understand the comments by other on the lack of parking. There seemed to be loads of space for parking all around the building.

Thomas Cook's description of the word 'apartment' is very loose! Very disappointed and certainly not up to the standard i would expect from Thomas Cook.

We found these studios as we were island hopping in2006 as indipendant travelers, and have now stayed twice and are going back this year.
Rooms are excellent as are the staff, who provide all the help you need.
