“Relaxed, friendly, scenic location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

We stayed at the Marianna Hotel for two weeks and had an amazing holiday. Maria (the owner) was fantastic! She was incredibly helpful and always around to assist in any way that she could. The swimming pool was relaxed and quiet, spacious, with ample comfortable sun beds. The view from our terrace was gorgeous-blue domed church, the sea and mountain backdrop.
The room was basic, but clean and spacious. We had air-conditioning, which we didn't have to pay any extra for! There was a secure safe in the room which costs 10 euros per week.
The location was good- 300m from the beach, bars and excellent restaurants. We were self-catering and the nearest supermarket was a good distance away if you have to carry heavy water etc, but there is a great system where the big supermarket in Perissa (The Coop) will come and collect you from the hotel and take you back with your shopping (only a 5 minute car journey). Maria rings them for you and they come straight away. The local bus stop is only a 5 minute walk down towards the beach.
We would really recommend the Marianna-would definitely go back again! Great holiday!

Hotel? very basic, I was glad we only had a week there. Was given a sob story about some guy complaining about the noise from the bar at night so that is why it had to close at Midnight, personally I think it was that the barman didn't want to be there. He ran out of Beer and lemonade the first night we were there, and during the day there was no atmosphere.
The shower room is an accident waiting to happen, with an open shower pan and glazed tiles on the floor it was like an icerink. Also there was a hairdrier on the wall and with the close proximity of the shower and no curtain I wouldn't have liked to use it.
The pool was excellent but with no facilities ie. snack bar etc. you either ordered from the bar and it was delivered or you went into town which had better choices and more atmosphere.
Got sick of Greek Spam for breakfast and weak coffee if you were late.

Room Tip: room 25 is next to the road and can be noisy. Maybe better booking a studio or apartment.

My husband and i have just returned having first stayed at the Marianna in Sep 2009. Maria as always greeted with a friendly welcome. We had a nice room overlooking the pool as we had requested and Aalez supplied us with drinks and a snack upon arrival at the pool bar.
The pool area is excellent and clean. The rooms are kept clean and the free air conditioning is a real bonus.

If i were to say anything I would suggest that if Sami did something more with the Pool Bar more people would spend much more time at the Marianna. If a small kitchen were set up to provide snacks round the pool area, such as sandwiches etc during the day that would be a huge bonus, even selling ice creams would be good.

The pool bar was quiet some nights and especially on our last night - apparently most of the Marianna people were at a bar in town. I think that is down to the fact that there is a slight lack of atmosphere and i appreciate that a complaint had been made hence the bar closing at midnight but i think there is a majority of people who are fine with the bar being open later, take a vote!

I think if food was advertised, more snacks, [peanuts with drinks in the evening], refreshments throughout the day. We even thought how nice it would be to hold a BBQ Night one Evening around the pool - all things to encourage people to spend more time at the Hotel.

However, please dont think we didnt enjoy our stay - and we will definitely be back one day but there is just a lot of things that could be done with the bar to improve its money making capability.

If people are preferring to spend the end of their evening somewhere else then that should be perhaps a consideration, especially given todays economic climate, surely the more business you get the better.

Oh, bit of a nightmare when you do spend time at the bar and it runs out of what you are drinking.....!!

As always, thanks Maria and Aalez.

We have been here a week so far, Maria & her staff have been" brilliant". The views from our balcony are quite spectacular, to the left we can see a church halfway up the mountain to the front the sea & the pool. The pool is large with plenty of sun beds & plenty of space around you . The location is spot on nice and quiet but still within a 5min walk to the beach. The restaurants are plentiful but our favourite so far is Gods Garden just nice people and great food.
Santorini is a beautiful island so much to see & do. We hired a quad from Mikes Bikes and we have traveled around the whole island AMAZING. Alex the bar man is nice guy looks after you well.
We are certainly thinking all ready that we will be back next year

We stayed for a week in July. Although we have stayed in Kamari before, this was our first stay in Perissa. Less tourist shopping than Kamari, but that was a positive, as quieter than Kamari. We were extremely pleased with the hotel. We stayed in a self-catering apartment, which had lots of space, a balcony overlooking the mountain and a bathroom with shower. Free air-con. Everything was extremely clean, bedding and towels changed regularly, refuse removed every day. There was a two-ring cooker, sandwich toaster (which we didn't use), electric kettle and fridge. The sink and cupboard area had all crockery, cutlery and pans needed for self-catering, athough there isn't alot of space to prepare food and meals. The hotel is spotlessly clean, also the pool area, which was fabulous! Wooden sunloungers with comfortable cushioning, with loads of room around the pool and views of the sea and the mountain. The pool was nice and big and we were often able to swim by ourselves. Bliss. Alex reigns over the bar area. He is a lovely, helpful young man, with plenty of anecdotes and stories for willing listeners! Santorini is beautiful and always draws us back, as will the Marianna Hotel. Thank you everyone for a lovely stay.
Tip: although public transport is plentiful, we always hire a car, which gives so much more flexibility to see all of this small, beautiful island. We also recommend the newly reopened visitor centre at Ancient Akrotiri - absolutely fascinating. There are good supermarkets in Perissa and a fabulous 24-hour bakery down by the Coop supermarket. You will be spoilt for choice!

Room Tip: All rooms had good locations - we were at the rear, with a mountain-view. It was lovely and quiet.

I am really sorry about the incident but I hope you do understand that anybody can claim that s/he lost anything from his/her room and I cannot just give money without any solid proof. I did it the first time that somebody reported missing money from the room and it was a mistake. The whole situation makes me really sad, the stuff of my hotel, the only people who have access to the rooms apart from myself, have been working here for nine years and during this period I never had any problems of that kind.
