Regular beach, with black sand from the volcano. Easily accessible from fira by bus. Has a big church in town

The beach is a natural wonder. Black sand from the lava. Great to have beach banana lounges with service to your chair with food and drinks. A great day to enjoy the beach and get relief from the heat in town. One problem is the tourists have trashed the environment with cigarette butts and rubbish. We were swimming in water with butts and rubbish floating all around you

We visit Perissa Beach as part of a guided tour every time we visit Santorini.
It is lovely area with restaurants, and an organized black sand beach.

The town is also accessible by bus or private car. Perissa is a small village with shops and various small hotels.

We caught a bus from Thira to Perissa expecting to spend a few hours on a pretty black sand beach with an attractive selection of restaurants.

We didn't expect to find row after row of sunbeds on the beach, music blaring from the depressing line of restaurants and ugly concrete apartments and hotels. To make matters worse, a steady stream of ATVs were being driven up and down the strip. There was no shade, apart from the sun lounger umbrellas, and only a few scrubby trees to break up the ugliness.

How anyone could spend their holidays in this type of environment when the stunning villages and towns on the caldera edge are there to be explored is way beyond me.

We strolled up and down the street and then caught the next bus to Thira. To make matters worse, the following day our tour of Santorini dropped us off yet again at Perissa so we had to again try and occupy ourselves until it was time to continue with the remainder of the tour.
